2019 NCAA Tourney Thread: Nation has to watch Virginia again (1 Viewer)

Agreed I’m stunned the court is clean imho.  There isn’t once of us that wouldn’t be livid if that happened to our team.
Yeah. Glad my team sucks!

Regardless no one is talking about Guy. That dude hit some prayer 3 then hit 3 FT's. Amazing.

I listened to a lot of the game but only watched the last few minutes. So my question regarding the fouling is this: was it consistent all throughout? Because to me that’s the key. Is they’re calling these fouls consistently on both teams, then that’s fair. But if they’re letting them play and it’s a physical game, but then they suddenly call a foul on the last shot, that seems like a damn shame. So which was it?

So if this was G Tech you’d be cool with the ending?  Got it
No, it sucks to lose that way as I've pointed out a million times.  But they weren't screwed.   And you must not be familiar with GT sports we have plenty of craptastic painful losses over the years.  Someone could write a book on them

Screwed call on the double dribble, correct call on the 3 pointer and I wouldnt have called either but my team won so f it Im happy

I mean they were calling fouls throughout the game. Regardless, the last shot was so obviously a foul it had to be called.

Lot's of illegal contact happens in basketball that doesn't get called. And a lot of it shouldn't get called. If they called all illegal contact, the game would constantly be getting stopped. What contact gets called is a matter of degree.

Double dribbling isn't a matter of degree. Either you did, or you didn't. And if you did, it should always get called.

They said great officiating referring to that non-call?
No not referring to not calling that a double dribble. I think they were giving them credit for not calling it a shooting foul. Its just pretty stupid that literally 5 seconds after a missed double dribble the announcer utters the phrase "that's great officiating".

Bad calls in first round games of the NIT don't count.

And DD, travelling and other calls get missed.  Sometimes with :05 seconds left.  You can't pick and choose what calls count and which ones don't.

So we are in agreement that saying his fingers grazing his jersey before he DD not getting called is a stupid non-call to complain about.  :hifive:
I agree you can't see a hand grab but keep doubling down.  Or better yet, reply one more time so you get the last word and let's move onto TT/MSU.   UVA will see you Monday

Changed the entire game.
Well, Jerome got fouled near the hoop (no call, which was absurd) when it was 57-48.   Then he got pissed and picked up his 4th foul.  That's when Auburn went on a run.   So that bad call had a major impact too.

Stuff happens.   I agree the missed double dribble call was huge though.

Did he just try and flop on a collision from his own teammate?

ETA: Yep. Just rewatched it. Throws his hands up in the air and flails. That is not a normal reaction to getting hit in the head.
