Since I started both watching basketball, the 1990 finals (Pistons/Blazers) is probably the only one that didn't have a player most would consider a top 20 all-time player (Isiah Thomas was great, but probably not top 20; Steph will assuredly go down as a top 20 all-timer, so I am comfortable saying 2019 had a top 20 player), and this year could be another.  Depends of it the Nets make it and how high one puts Durant on the all-time list. Just fun to think about, if nothing else.

That is very possible, if he can stay healthy.  Feels like his upward trajectory on the all-time list has been staggered due to not playing a lot the last two years (played 35 of a possible 137 games the last two regular seasons).

It works, but if I am the Blazers I don't want Simmons. His shooting is too much of a concern and would he even want to be there. If I trade Lillard I am tearing it all the way down and being very bad for 2 or 3 years.

I don't think they're a franchise that can afford to tear it all the way down. They have 2-3 seasons of tanking and they might find the team in a new city.

I don't follow your logic here. If being bad for a few years in a small market gets you relocated then how come a third of the league hasn't been relocated?

There's plenty of stories out there already for the last few years that they could move when the team is sold. Add in a rebuild where fans are less likely to show up to games and that could be all she wrote. 

I think they need something to keep them somewhat competitive to keep the fans coming into the arena. Not saying Ben Simmons is that answer but he'd be better than bottoming out.

I don't think that is the case at all. Simmons doesn't keep them in Portland. All Simmons does is take them from being a bottom 3 team to a bottom 10 team. 

If the new owners are really basing on moving the team on fan attendance then they are as good as gone. Whether it starts now or 5 years from now when Lillard can't carry them. All teams go through rebuilds and low fan attendance.

It wouldn't be cheap and it would probably cost a little extra because you would have to and want to attach Eric Beldsoe to the deal. 

Depending on how long it would take to gel it would open a 3 to 5 year window of high level of play that could have them as a top 5 team. That is all you can ask for in today's NBA and I feel like you have that window you go for it and go all in.

Yep, sold! LOL if we can do it with dealing Bledsoe and keeping Lonzo, we have ourselves a contender, IMO.

Dame would be a perfect fit. We need someone who can turn it up in clutch time, and keep the ball out of Ingram's hands in those clutch moments.

I am not sure they could keep Ball and aquire Lillard. Understanding the cap is difficult.

Don't hate the Pels.  They just don't deserve Dame, and if Portland trades him for mid-late first round picks and cadavers the team will be gone in 3-5 years.

Yep, some explanations on twitter are exactly that.

Whistle for foul went at 0.1 seconds left, so clock stops at that point.  He was in the act of shooting so basket counts if it goes in even after the whistle is blown/clock is stopped.

That’s my understanding - foul was before clock hit 0 and it was considered continuation.  Lopez got very lucky.

Who can offer more that would? This is all speculation anyways. Pelicans first this year is lottery and they have future Laker picks that look like they could be nice.

Just as likely they get a better coach and a combination of new players and improved players (on their current roster).

Actually more likely imo.

A)  Blazers fans will take consistent playoff appearances and exits.  We have no expectation of championships.  But playoff and out is better than constant suckitude.

B) Constant suckitude will lead to the team leaving Oregon soon.  Don't want that.

Better coach? Sure. Better players? I doubt it. Portland just isn't a free agent destination. McCollum isn't going to fetch a better player in return unless you add too it. They can make some moves, but a major improvement on players isn't likely.

A. Is fine. Sucks to have to look at it that way. 

B. Is going to happen regardless then. Just depends when they suck. All teams go through years of suckitude.

Players do get better from year to year.

Especially with better coaching and a real defensive scheme.

What players? The players currently on the Blazers? They aren't getting that much better if at all. This is a veteran team, they are who they are at this stage in their career.

Some players get worse.
