2020-21 NBA *Playoffs* Thread: Bucks are the champs and you can take that to the bank bromigos (4 Viewers)

McMillan said it to his team post-game.

So far, this series has gone the same way as Philly (W-L wise).

I don't think it's as close to over as most think.
The Bucks are a more complete team, IMO.  Problem is that while we all thought Embiid was unguardable, he at least was slowed down by his injury and a little by Capela.  Not that there's anybody who can guard him that well in the league but Atlanta literally has no one to slow down Giannis.  They could just let him have his but the problem is they aren't going to score enough with Bogdanovic playing so poorly.  If they lose the next one then it will be Bucks in 5 most likely.

Last night they had a shot and didn't close things out.  I think they were up 98-96 and Bucks closed the game on a 17-4 run.

Bucks don't have a guy like Ben Simmons who's afraid to take a shot.  I don't think Atlanta beats Philly without Simmons disappearing like that.

I still say Bucks in 5, absolutely no more than 6.

Regardless of whether or not he "needed" to fall down, dude hit his arm.  That's a foul.
How hard do you really think his hand was “hit?”   Maybe a slight graze?   Honestly, when I saw it real time it didn’t look like he got hit.  It looked like a major flop - he over sold it - and that’s probably why it wasn’t called.

Overselling it sure doesn't stop them from sending Trae to the line...

It's actually a POE for them not to call the 'high five'.  Not sure from that angle if that is what it was or that was what he saw.  The shooter going down on contact way up top there screams flop though and that may have played into the no call.

Not just Simmons either, felt like nobody on the team would step up.

Atlanta would be wise to start fouling Giannis intentionally earlier in the next game. Crowd is in his head at the FT line.

if i was anteaternintendo and the bucks were up like 20 and had no way to lose at the end of the game and i got fouled i would see how long i could take on a free throw like maybe try for 20 seconds or something just to make everyones head explode take that to the bank brohans

Here's the thing about the FT times:

If you don't call it all regular season, don't call it now. And team should stop whining. Or are we going to start calling lane violations on upwards of 80% of FTs too?

If we find it that annoying, then next season it should be called every time someone does it until it goes away. Right now, you let a guy establish a routine for 70+ games, it's not reasonable to suddenly be all about it.

Following up from the GQ article, Scottie Pippin straight up called Phil Jackson a racist on Dan Patrick's show this morning for giving Kukoc that infamous end of game shot. Sour grapes much?

NBA has a rule that a violator can get back as long as they are in the proper spot when the ball is released and don't restrict the top of the key rebounders like HS & college.  They still are in early very often with no-calls (especially some shooters).

Connaughton is 5th all time in highest vertical leap at the NBA combine - was third until the 2021 combine.  Yes, this is strictly FWIW, which may not be much for obvious reasons, but still impressive.  Was also drafted by the Padres and played minor league baseball before going to Notre Dame.

Did he really use that word or are you paraphrasing here

DP called Pippen on his previous statement and basically Scottie said he didn't disagree with what he had already said

said he was around Phil every day for years and he wasn't going to back off his statement

Pippen's other examples were Phil retiring and then coming back to coach the Lakers... and writing a book badmouthing Kobe. it was a little weird. that said, he's smart enough to know if he goes on a rant on national radio he's probably burying his businesses and personal life even more.

i think he wanted to say more and be more honest, but he pulled back before going too far. he was getting frustrated and that was clear but he caught himself before saying what he really wanted and DP brought it back to talking about the draft day trade that sent Pippen to Chicago, etc.

Scottie with a couple drinks in him, off radio, talking off the cuff about Jordan and Jackson would be interesting.

there doesn't appear to be any love lost there.

Suns -5.5 seems about right to me.  Clips can easily win/cover if they can just hit more outside shots and keep up the defensive intensity.  Will be interesting to see if the Clips throw in the towel or show some character here.

Scottie Pippen indicates Phil Jackson is a racist.

DP: ".. By saying it was a racial move then you're calling Phil Jackson a racist..."

Pippen: "I don't have a problem with that."

DP: "Do you think Phil was?"

Pippen: "Oh yeah..."

Exchange with Scottie Pippen on Phil's decision to have Kukoc take final shot against the Knicks.

I dunno, to be fair to Scottie here these things said by Phil are really racist:

Twolves “badly” interested in Ben Simmons.

@Frostillicus
Just needs a change of scenery. He's only 24 years old and has made 3 all-star teams, one all-NBA team, and two all-defense teams. He just needs a coach or teammate who can get through to him. He does so many things well you just need to scheme properly to hide his shooting issues. He's passing on the olympics this year to work on his shot which shows how he's maturing and growing.

Or he scared to be shipped to Minnesota or Detroit.

Warriors said to be interested in Siakim for #7, Wiseman, and Wiggins
I suppose if Siakam regains his ‘19-‘20 form and becomes at least an average 3P shooter it would work better, but this season’s version of Siakam doesn’t seem like a great fit next to Draymond.

Nothing against this guy but he'll forever be known as the guy they passed on Lamelo for.

I think he'll be good player if he stay healthy/keep head on straight, but Melo-Steph-healthy Klay is an immediate title contender IMO and extends the careers of the latter 2 getting to play off the ball more and letting Melo do his magic. Just absolutely mind blowing to me how they missed that.

=======

I think that deal makes sense for Toronto. Get a young with high potential and Wiggins gets to play somewhere where a fan or two might care about him. Siakim hasn't been very good since the bubble started.

Siakim was great as a wingman, but he is NOT the go-to guy.  He struggles to get good shots vs top defenders, but he can feast in a complementary role.
