Here's the thing. He's shown signs of unwillingness to be coached since day 1 even going back to college. There were reports about why he chose LSU over better College Bball programs because he "wanted to be the big man on Campus" in his respective sport which goes back to issues of the world revolving all the time. He's pouted when he's been called and then pulled the other stunts after the season. This is after the fact most fans have supported him since day 1. It's a pretty crappy thing for him and his agent to do and if he doesn't have a mental health issue this could end Ben's career and possible Rich Paul's. There's a co worker of mine who has some issues but she scams the system a ton and uses her "issues" as reasons to get out of stuff like working holidays and weekends. She goes out for 6-8 months do to "medication changes" and yes she's been put into a mental facility before but from mutual friends of her family I've heard quite differently about some of her stuff. So I'm really skeptical here when it comes to this for Ben

Trust me I'm right there with you on this. I have a boss now who says he's concern about others mental health at work but sometimes he just doesn't get it. has he said he doesn't get some stuff? Sure but at the same time I feel like he's undermined or acted like the issues aren't a huge deal. I'v dealt with this issue in the past. I think the issue with Media and athletes/celebs etc is the fact they don't view them as human like we do.

Anxiety is one of those things that should be viewed more on a spectrum, rather than an "on and off" switch. people think you have anxiety or you don't, and they think their anxiety is the same as everyone else's.

it's hard for some of us to take because theres a lot of people out there cheating the system. Ben has performed actions that make people not trust or believe in him that he might have a mental issue. My only question is if this is an issue why didn't he come out sooner. If he did what if anything have the Sixers don and if so it sounds like they went about it in such a bad way.

I was someone what believing him till I saw someone today point out the CBA rules. If he had these issues already a very weird time for him to come out with this already. I think people have a right to be skeptical of this guy saying anything until it's proven or not.

there were hints of it before, maybe started about 2 years ago after the one Boston series where Ben got utterly destroyed by Stephenson. i am pretty sure he mentioned seeing a therapist at that time (might be just a sports psychologist), but obviously some people are more open to discussing it then others. it is a shame that he hasn't made more progress on that front, and that may fall on him a bit for not taking advice or seeking more help. 

And I am also not suggesting Ben does not deserve any of what he is getting now.  I've known people crippled with anxiety who would probably have done more in the time period he has been here, and would have at least reached out to a coach or his longtime teammate. 

it is so hard to say what is going on with the kid. I do think he has a habit of surrounding himself with the wrong people more often than not, and that very well could have played a part with some of the pure head-smacking decisions he has made recently. 

I guess it is better than the Celtics though. Glad to hear Ime already coming out saying how the C's deserve to be boo'd and don't seem to care about the game already 2 games into it.

it will be interesting to see how much hate comes from Sixers fans now that the team has come out and called out quite a few people and are once again defending Ben. we will never know if he has a mental health illness or what exactly it is, but the worst part is i think we won't hear any apologies or anybody learn from situations like this that mental heath issues are legit and can be impactful.

The team is defending Ben for PR and legal reasons.  That’s it.   

 
While you guys beat the dead horse the Hornets move to 2-0.  Gonna to enjoy it before the injuries kick in.

Yup—and to try to manufacture any potential trade value in him.  Frankly—at this point—it’s in both the best interests of Ben and the Sixers to act like things might be getting better.  By acting out—he’s reducing his trade value and lessening the likelihood of getting what he wants (to get moved).

So far, the 75th anniversary year is entertaining for reasons I’m sure the NBA would prefer it not be. Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving, the Geriatric Lakers egos already imploding, all :popcorn: level stuff.

LaMelo is great. I wanted to not like him, but even in that yellow suit the other night, it is hard to dislike him and his play. 
 

If Simmons comes back, can he replace Danny Green in the lineup?  Maybe if they trade Simmons, package them together ….

Yeah I was just answering your question why some may not believe him. I've been around multiple people with mental illness and those who have tried to use it to get out of accountability as well. Gone through my own myself. So more so speaking from experience in this regard. 

If Ben does have an issue then I hope he gets the help he needs but he is not surrounding himself with the right people. If I'm someone looking for an agent and find out Paul isn't doing much to help Ben I might have 2nd thoughts of using him as an agent. People seem to hate Agents Drew Rosenhaus and Scott Boras but both have shown compassion for their clients among other things. Rosenhaus dropped Antonio Brown like a sack of potatoes and said until AB gets the help he needs himself he can't be his agent. This is after DR helped him. Boras has helped his clients too and even listened to Bryce Harper who praised Boras for letting him do what he wanted in FA. You can hate them for doing their job right but if I'm an athlete in either of these sports these are guys I'd want to be around or as someone in that person's family thats the type of agent I want my Kid to have.

Right now they are doing it for PR and legal reasons. it'd be a horrible move for the team with todays culture to come out and say they don't believe him. They'll defend him for now until medical examination can determine if he's telling the truth or not. If he's not telling the truth all gloves should be off. 

My biggest issue here is I really question the timing of this by Ben to make this public now or tell people. Like why wait so long and right when the season starts? This should've been taken care of during the off season. not now. 

I also don't think Ben never wanted to be here. Someone did a deep dive on Jonathan Giovany scouting Ben Simmons and found a JG tweet about Ben meeting the Sixers before the draft. JG commented on it being interesting since Ben has made it clear to people about wanting to play in LA. The tweets and everything is just really interesting by themselves though.

Haven't seen a player fall off a cliff as fast as Danny Green. One thing that never declines in a guy like him is shooting and defense and he can barely do either right now. 

 
Lonzo Ball got his first Bulls Triple Double in the win last night. Lavine hadn't scored the whole first half till the 5:28 mark of the 2nd half and put up 10 straight points in 1:32. Scored 20 for the half. Really becoming a big fan of Alex Caruso too. Dude is just a flat-out baller and hustle plays constantly.

Not to mention it is the Philadelphia fan base he is dealing with. A smaller market like OKC, Sacremento, or even Cleveland could do wonders. Just not sure any team is going to move assets for him after what happened this week.

 
Bulls rout Det and had a Block party and steal city. AC had 5 steals and Lonzo with 4. Nikola Vucevic had 18 boards. Poor shooting night for Lavine but DeRozen and his trusty jumper were in rhythm and put Diallo on a nice poster as well. Onto Tor where they are Missing Siakim so possible another win. Then schedule starts getting tougher after D Rose return with the Knicks.

Yes, the defense has looked good even if the quality of opponents has been low.  A lot of pundits thought the Bulls defense would be bottom tier but I never agreed with that.  Ball and Caruso at point of attack are more than solid.  They have issues with rim protection but with no runts on the roster and the ability to switch 1 through 4, I think their defense will be average.

People underrate Donovan as a defensive Coach. I've been following Billy since he was at Florida and no matter what he's always had good defensive units. People just look at him as a pure offensive guy. Saw a stat from the Bulls broadcast I think first pre season game or 2nd and showing Donovan's defensive Numbers since being in the NBA. None of those teams was out of the top 15. Plus I think with Ball and others around him Lavine could be playing defense and with all these options doesn't have to be the guy anymore 

 
Bet the Grizz +5, watching the last 2:00 of game time (45 minutes of real time).  People watch this ish for entertainment?  It's concentration camp level torture.

I do agree that the ending of basketball games can be brutal at times with all the fouls and stoppages. I wonder if there's any viable solution for it?

They should limit the number of timeouts a team can take in the last 2 minutes. Maybe like 2 or something. Maybe go to 3 free throws on each consecutive possession with a non-shooting foul in the last 2 minutes.

Part of the issue last night (other than my vodka-addled brain) was they had two LOOONG replay reviews to determine who the ball went off of out of bounds.  When they are watching frame....by frame....by frame and rewinding and rewatching it's just ridiculous.  I hate review in all sports for the most part anyway, but it was really egregious last night.  Not sure that genie is ever going back in the bottle though so I'll just be over here shaking my fist at the clouds.

Teams can "only" carry 2 time outs in the final 3 minutes.  Nothing excites a head coach more than having 3 time outs left and getting to call one just before the game has three minutes remaining.  Like not calling it would be a huge waste, on par with benching your star player for the entire fourth quarter.  I swear I've witnessed a coach not smirk for an entire game, but smile like they just won the lottery because their defense grabbed a rebound with 3:05 on the clock and they got to use that time out.  So stupid.  Add in replay reviews and the end of basketball games are often the very, very worst part...which seems wrong.

 
Rough night for the threads favorite team. Defense was solid again for the thrid straight game which is HUGE for this team but the offense didn't show up. 34% shooting, 30% from three, 59 missed shots and only 11 offensive rebounds. UGH. The big 3 shot 23-61. Plus Beasley was just 1-8. Most concerning despite the overall good defense is Valanciunas putting up a 22 point/23 rebound night. If Towns can't take a leap defensively this team isn't going to make all my dream come true. These two teams played this weekend too and JV went 20+17.

i enjoy watching the bucks play but it would be nice if bally sports and spectrum didnt freeze for the fourth quarter take that to the bank brohans 

 
Toronto put up a fight but Chicago has their first 4 game win streak since 2017. 4-0 going into the contest with DRose and NYK. 

Speaking of DRose Thibs will be his best man in his wedding.
