To me, he's always come across that way. Like you said, basically the anti-Giannis.
Yeah, between the injuries and the short offseason, I fully expect that Bud will make liberal use of his bench at least through the All-Star break. Wouldn't be surprised to see them sitting around the 4-5 seed for most of the first part of the season.

honestly not coming in to troll, but i still stand by the idea that any team with Tatum as the #1 or even #2 is going to not win a championship. If the game ever goes to 1-on-1 Tatum could be King, but i think for the last 3 years or so you could see the C's are going to go all the way with current construction. right pieces he might get there, but i am not even positive what that would be

Great game between the Wolves and Nuggets tonight. Wolves came out on the wrong side, but the team is very different this year than in season's past. I'm encouraged.

After getting their first loss to NYK the Bulls knock off the last undefeated team in the NBA in Utah last night. Sound win too despite Vucevic and Lavine not shooting well. Both did make clutch shots at the end.
Also rumored that when Coby White comes off the Injured list he's a trade candidate. With Patrick Williams now unfortunately out for the year (I feel so bad for the guy because in his interviews you could see how excited he was to play this year) Chi needs a starting 4 to compliment Vucevic.

They should keep Coby. His shooting efficiency should improve in a non-lead guard role. They can use him off the bench right now.

naw, they should trade him to the Magic. Orlando is putting together an unprecedented all-chukker-PG lineup with Anthony, Suggs, Hampton & Fultz (with Bamba coming off the bench to play Maypole) to address the modern game and have a pre-injured PF in Isaac to offer.

love that theyre giving him a shot tho they havent really figured out what he is yet. i kinda like Alize Johnson, actually grabbed him in my 20-teamer before the injury, to take up the slack but they apparently dont

They have Alize as a center. He’s an excellent rebounder but is undersized with short arms. Tony Bradley seems to be healthy now and I think he’s going to take a lot of Alize’s minutes.
Javonte’s athletic hustle role fits in well with the four starters who get the ball. Donovan seems to really trust him. He won’t get starter minutes, though, as Donovan likes to close with Caruso.

Yeah, the C's are a mess. It seems like Tatum and Brown always want the ball, but Smart also wants to be the guy. So Smart on his own will start launching threes and can easily miss 10 in a row. Most teams would gladly let Smart bomb away. Tatum will eventually get sick of that and will play hero ball, trying to go 1 on 3 and ending up launching an off balance turnaround fall away as the shot clock expires. In those situations, Brown is usually camped out in the opposite corner . . . so there is little chance he could get the ball as it would take 2+ passes to get it to him (and they don't pass in crunch time).
The rest of the game, it just seems that they are far too in love with launching threes, and already this year I have seen plenty of times when a player had a lightly contested two point shot a few feet from the basket and instead kicked it out for a shot from distance. But that shot would clank off the rim and the other team would be off to the races and no one got back on defense.
Good Tatum is really, really good. But he goes cold way too often and then plays soft and won't even try to get to the line. Good Brown is also really good, but it seems like the plan is to make Tatum the star of the team and Brown can score 20 in a quarter and then they go away from him.
I don't know how they fix it, but in the same game they can have huge streaks / runs in either direction. They had ZERO defensive rebounds in the 4th quarter last night. How does that happen with Timelord and Horford on that team?
But they are last in the league in points allowed (119.7) . . . which is 4.7 ppg worse than any other team. I am sure having played 5 OT periods in only a handful of games explains part of that. But they are 27th in the league in defensive rating. It certainly seems like Smart and "teammate to be announced later" are due for a dust up in the near future. There is no chemistry on the team whatsoever.

What's worse, theyre just like everybody else now. We thought it was bad when they stopped listening to Stevens. Now, there's no one to ignore. Habsolutely no imagination being employed by the coaching staff - one reason for last night's collapse is that the Green have had a lot of multi-OT games lately and Udoka never subs anyone out after 7:00 of the 4th. No side2side anymore; no talking on D (which somehow results in all their switches leaving an open trey for opponents); Rob Williams should be having a dozen P&R dunks a nite but the only one who runs it with him is Smaaaat; theyre not even letting Stainhead be a pesty pesterson, when that's the only thing that turns his game on; the only flow happens when 35yo frikkin Horford (in only 6 games, he's proved that Philly & OKC were WRONG) tries to do sumn besides Jays on Ice (for iso): and wastes-o'-space like Richardson & Grant Williams get waaaay too many of the mid-half mins. There's nothing Celtic going on out there...

Sixers beat the Blazers last night without Embiid, Tobias, Simmons and Danny Green (injured in second half) -- so down 4 starters from last season. Maxey has really improved and the bench is much better than last season. Sixers fans were chanting "We want Lillard" even though he had a poor game.

This doesn't really mean anything in the big picture, but I found it funny that Smart made this comment after a game in which he was the only Celtic to play more than 1 minute that didn't have an assist.

Maaaacus Smaaaat doesnt know how to do anything but what he instinctively knows how to do, which he does very well. Like Westbrook and wide receivers. When folks get in the way of that, he howls. It's funny except when it isnt.
ETA: btw, that's why he shouldnt be anybody's starting PG

Well this is definitely coming to fruition. Khris, Jrue, and Brook all out tonight against the Pistons, and it sounds like Giannis is probably going to sit, too, leaving Grayson Allen as the only regular starter who will even play.

He's not wrong . . . but it's not like Smart gives up the ball much himself. Last time I looked, he ranked 27th among point guards in assists per game. He's shooting 29% on the season overall (31% on twos and 28% on threes). That's worst in the league for any player averaging 30 minutes played per game. He's very much a part of the problem. Also interesting that he made comments about Brown and Tatum not passing the ball on a night Smart had 0 assists.gruecd said:He's not wrong.

So the Sixers are growing in frustration with Ben Simmons. Some of the headlines are misleading in this story though. Ben is getting mental help away from the team and individually working out with position coaches. However he's refused any advancement in help the Sixers want to provide nor is he updating the Sixers on his status with the help he's getting outside the organization. Per Romona Shelburn frustrating is growing inside the organization as they feel they should be getting some sort of status update at the very least. All he's said to the team is he's not mentally ready to play yet

Javale McGee and Frank the Tank go 35-8-3 in Aytons absence.
We've seen with perennial losers like the Twolves that paying a lazy hot and cold motor center max money isn't smart and you'll be going into hibernation 5 games into every season. Aytons had a very very short stretch where he's looked like an above average center.
Absolutely nuts to pay him anything close to max. He's looked completely replaceable but for a small stint last year

Just saw refs take points off the board a minute or so of game time after Bazemore made a few free throws in the 4th quarter when the refs realized they miscounted the number of team fouls in the quarter. Never seen that before. They didn't restart the game from the point of the mistake or anything, just took the points away and kept going. Bizarre.

It not surprising that we’re here. I keep going back to asking what the Sixers exit strategy is. Force Simmons to come back, gel with the team, and have strong play boost his trade value? Or maybe hope he changes his mind about the franchise? These always seemed far-fetched and are getting even less likely by the day. And, obviously, a trade for a player like Beal or Lillard isn’t happening.

every time i hear Ayton's name i'm reminded of the slobbering NBA media were doing over him during his best stretch.
Bill Simmons in particular was calling him a hybrid of Bill Walton, Shaq and Olajuwon and saying if he continued with his hot play he would be a top 5 all-time center.

Yeah, it odd that a player that didn't want to be there and still get paid is doing whatever he has to do to get those two things. Nothing has changed.
Exactly. Without something it should be a no pay situation. The "mental health" angle appears to be a calculated gambit by Simmons and his people. You don't see Calvin Ridley refusing to communicate with the Falcons.
The Sixers should play hard ball IMO. They paid a max contract to a player and that player is, in essence, now refusing to play. Eventually another team will get desperate enough to go after Simmons via trade. They always do...talent is just too tough to come by.

realistically at this point so far down the road between ben simmons and the sixers it does not surprise me one bit that he wont see doctors the team is telling him to see but i am surprised he is not giving some updates to the team i wonder if he is and the team just wants more and so on hard to know in this case expeshully due to hippo regulations and stuff like that take that to the doctor swc bank bromigos

this is where "we dont know how to talk to powerful black people" Syndrome costs these business titans a lot of money and basketball success. while it was fun for a while as fans to watch ballers make tycoons dance like saloon buffoons, it's the ticket buyers who pay the fare and suffer when it creates anti-winning climates.
perfect example is the 2nd contract. there is no business reason to offer one to any player who isnt a slam dunk franchise guy. but owners keep handing out these "show me you love me" deals when all they have to do is offer fair market value and, if the player doesnt like it, tell him to see what he can get on the open market, we'll match it if we dont want you to go.
because the owners wont deal with people they dont undertand (ie: respect) they've turned a sitch where you pretty much have a potential superstar for his 1st 8 yrs just cuz, into one where 2nd-3rd year guys are already yanking the Harden chain and merely useful players are clogging the cap with 9fig contracts
what's worse, it's created a climate where players no longer realize (never mind abide) that they are being paid in service of a franchise and its fans meeting goals, but just because theyre wunnerful. from Simple Simmons not knowing he had to do stuff to get a check, to the worst thing about modern ball - you cant sit a guy when he ####s up. dont run thru a screen, take a bad early shot, abandon assignments rather than hand em off, argue with refs when it doesnt serve team purpose? for 100 yrs, it's been "then ride the pine". a 2021 player wouldnt even know what you're talking about if you told him to have a seat. only cuz these financial geniuses cant/wont talk to black people.

Just coming in to say that there is nothing to discuss about the Celtics right now. They are irrelevant.
The Heat are the best team I've seen so far and don't really have a weakness with Lowry, Butler and Adebayo on the floor. That's 3 all-star level guys that are great on both ends of the floor who play hard all game for one of the best coaches in the league.

Heat seem to need another biggish dood. Chris Boucher would look so frikkin on sweet learning from this bunch
