So the Celtics added salary. I don’t understand bringing in Theis
they're 6mil under luxury tax right now (apparently that's what having BolBol/Dozier in their back pockets was all about) but have two spots to fill in the buyout/FA market. maybe that euro PG from a coupla yrs ago who Dubs signed/cut and i'd like to get just-cut Moses Brown back altho they got a Korver type named Hauser they might promote from his 2-way

ETA: Horford needs a min reduction and Freedom was getting screened off his coverages too much to pick up the slack

And the Celts replaced Schroder with Derrick White, which is an upgrade IMO as far as fit on that team.  Very subtle but positive moves.

Freedom is done in green.

I missed Theis, super glad they got him back.  Now if they could just sign IT to a 10-day contract or something.

Hornets getting Montrez Harrell from the Wiz for Vernon Carey and Ish Smith.  Plus pick?
Good move assuming there isn’t a pick in there. Essentially a free rental since neither Hornets piece looked to be a factor in the rotation. Trez doesn’t really help their lack of a stopper down low though.

Y'all trying to figure out how KP fits in the Wizards rotation are funny. He fits in a white polo and khakis at the end of the bench, ready to toss out some high fives at the end of a run when someone calls a timeout.

I remember months back where I wrote I'm not going to worry about the Lakers until February or so. Well it's February, and I'm not worried. They're not going anywhere if they even make the playoffs, so, nothing to worry about this season. Probably nothing to worry about next season either. Excellent use of LeBron's sunset seasons.

LeBron picking Westbrook over DeRozan was quite the mistake.

Realize he didn't meet expectations in Dallas (mostly defensively) but Dinwiddie and Bertans?

I still don't know why this team ever dealt Seth Curry

Simmons should send Morey flowers and thank him up and down though because he sent him to the best possible place for him. Gets to just defend and find an open KD, Kyrie, or Curry instead of being sent to Portland, Sacramento, Minnesota, or Indiana.

Does Ben suit up March 10?  I can't even imagine how he's gonna face that crowd. It's gonna be nasty.

He might be too nervous to play anywhere outside Brooklyn.  Nets could just have Simmons play only home games and Kyrie play only road games lol
I’m surprised Simmons is playing at all.  He was struggling with mental health issues.  How do we know he’s ok now?

I often forget Kyrie is from Australia.  That's an awful lot of Aussies for one NBA team.  A real shame they couldn't Thybulle as well.

My random thoughts on trades:

IND has a nice back court in Hali and Duarte even though Duarte is 24. Getting a 21 year old who shoots 40% and defends on a rookie contract is a great deal for a team that didn't have a championship potential before the trade.

SAC will be mediocre at best with Vivek as owner. Player wise this isn't a lopsided trade, but is Fox and Sabonis really going to threaten anyone out West? Both are 25 so there's some upside left, but I doubt they maximize it with the Kings.

Being a Warrior fan, I actually hate this trade deadline. Bucks got better with Ibaka. 76ers and Nets became championship threats again. Harden gives Philly the shot creator they needed and Simmons gets to play the Draymond Green role with Kyrie, Seth, and KD.

The second half of the season will actually be pretty entertaining until the end. The Warriors, 76ers, and Nets are trying to gel before the playoffs and there's plenty of young teams trying for the play in tournament. Bravo NBA.

I think the Nets won this deal.  Anything short of a championship in PHI is a failure, and that's what will happen.  Harden will be asking out by Feb 20.

Harden picked up his 47M option WTF that is way too much for a decline player like him. The 76ers IMHO were 1 and done in the playoffs without a move because all teams had to do was double Embiid and force the 76ers other players to do well. Harris/Curry are just too inconsistent to rely on that. Harden is a good player but not worth what they gave up. Yes they give up Simmons bu they take another cancer in Harden with questionable defense effort instead of a guy with questionable offensive effort, who if they lose in the 2nd round like I see he's gonna ask out already. I think Drummond is a good back up and considering Joel's health (knock on wood hasn't had anything major this year YET) was a nice back up and also reliable minutes for Joel to rest. Now they have zero help there for him. Which is bad for a guy who's cardio has been questioned for some time come playoffs.

The also kind of lack a bench outside of Mills honestly

Man I feel for KD. Dude goes into this thing in Brooklyn probably thinking he poised for at least 1 title. Then Kyrie does what he does best, gutting an organization from the inside with stupid off-court drama (I've seen it as a Boston fan). And now Harden is dumped (even sound like he wanted to bail, if you believe the hearsay).

As a Fan of KD overall and as someone who is a part owner of the Union I feel for KD. He had to deal with Russ in OKC and literally the only one there who wanted to keep him as the face of the franchise was Billy Donovan. He at least went to GS and won a title. However he goes to Brooklyn to team with Kyrie not realizing how bat#### crazy he was and thought maybe harden changed for the better. Wrong. Now this guy has to play with a clown who made a mockery of mental health In Ben Simmons. No one in this league should want to play with that absolutely fraud. If I'm KD I'm asking out by the Summer.

Also I do feel bad for Joel because he goes from one clown to another who's gonna quit on him if he doesn't get his way either.

Starting a pool early favorite for Harden LA Lakers with Lebron. Now that would be a circus. Plenty of strippers in LA too.

Do we think New York/Brooklyn fans and media are going to be any nicer to Simmons than Philly?

I'm friends with Crossing Broad Kevin Kinkead through a mural friend. We joke a lot how the Philly Media are wannabe NY Media who want to act tough but then cry when teams fight back at them. NY Media is absolutely relentless. Simmons is gonna want to quiet ball all together if they start hounding him good. It's going to be a blood bath but must watch TV.

That is wild.

Simmons is a good fit with KD and Curry though.  Kyrie is still good at basketball too.  This is a very good team if Simmons and Kyrie keep their heads straight at the right time.
Yeah in the end I think long term if Ben works out to be even marginally good the Nets make out better in this trade. 76ers are basically in a title or Bust mode and if this doesn't work they might want to think about a retool at least, getting rid of Harden and Harris and trying to build something around Maxey if he becomes consistently legit and Embiid if he stays healthy enough. I don't think they can wait with Embiid's questionable health for another rebuild to happen and run with him.

I just don't see this team doing it because I'm really not a fan of the bench and I don't trust Harden at all. Plus Doc Rivers is still coaching the team. It should be an exciting finish but I think a lot of people acting like Harden is still the guy from 5 yrs ago haven't watched a lot of basketball lately either.

Joel was saying the right things publicly but someone in the know was telling me Joel told Morey he'd want out if he tried to bring Ben back on the team. He started to hate his guts after Ben became very distance. last straw was when Joel with Toby and others tried to reach out to Ben over the summer and told them to essentially F off. That's why Joel recently has been more vocal on his dislike for Simmons. Mills wasn't just a throw in either. He's a teammate on Australian National team with Simmons and wanted to leave if Ben was going to Brooklyn. This was a very bad situation Ben caused and there's talk he might be black listed from Team Australia in the future too. Jordan Mailata is now the most popular Philly Australian easily there now too.

Agreed - its at least market value on a player on an expiring deal who obviously didnt want to stay for whatever reason.  As a Nets fan I am excited to see how this team gels - there is no more big 3 but easily could be a better all around team....now if Kyrie could just play full time....

I honestly think Ben's Defense is overrated and I think his weaknesses were blocked by how good the 76ers team defense was. I think with the Nets bad defense he's going to get exposed more now on that end of the floor too if he ever plays again

Say what now?!?

He's a legit elite defender, that is a fact.

And he will play for Brooklyn and soon.

Also I was waiting to see if prices dropped on the Chicago game in Philly as I wanted to get tickets as close to the Chicago bench on the floor (usually where I sit and most of the Bulls faithful are during games) they didn't go down to my liking but at work when I heard the 76ers got Harden I figured let me just pick the best possible value in there now because I'm sure tickets will be super overpriced in a bit. Got floor seats row 17 like in the corner of the Visitors bench for $67 each with fees so I spent almost 140 total. Went back at the time I left for work to check prices on stub hub. 2nd level seats went from 15 to like 45 and my section more then triple what I had paid for seats WTF?

Super Glad I got the tickets when I did now. My former coworker who's also a bulls fan told me he could go now because of his new job he will be out of the area for a meeting that day and won't be home in time. So I'm asking my homer 76ers friend to go who said yes told him he had to pay the 67 for his ticket. I told him it was floor level but acted like I didn't know where the seats were and that my former coworker had bought them and sold them both to me instead. Boy is he in for a surprise. Hopefully Were surrounded by a whole bunch of Chicago fans in that section as there's usually a good bit there.

Happy that Dort gets some more cash though. He should get a bigger chunk of that 23mm. KZ Okpala is the big deadline day winner.

To Summarize:

1. Sixers suck and were gonna be out round 1
2. They gave up too much for Harden
3. Harden is awful and now I'll hate on him instead of Ben
4. The sixers are idiots no matter what they do and I was right about everything.
