I watched him play really well in the 6A Missouri state championship game. Kid is a legit player. Maybe not quite on par with his dad, but he can play at a high level in D-1 college.

After a 1-12 (which progressed to 3-15) start, my Pelicans are IN the play-in baby!!! McCollum has really made a huge difference and as much as I didn't like the trade when it happened (bc I didn't want to lose N.A.W.), it was clearly the right move.
Oh, and not a peep from the national media who nearly all said Zion will never play another game in a Pels uniform: Stepdad expects Zion Williamson to play for New Orleans Pelicans this season (he also mentioned in the interview that not a single source...re: family member or Zion himself... has ever said a thing about Zion not being happy in New Orleans. I still contend Zion needs a better PR agent.
As I've said in here, I have mixed feelings about Zion playing in the play-in, and there's no word on his official progress other than he's doing court work still so maybe a moot point.

Portland will never compete for a title but I have to think they rank in the top echelon of all-time tank jobs for their performance the last month plus. Losing to that OKC team took a special kind of skill. Proud of our little team today.And yet they still won!24 & 21 for good ol' Jaylen Hoard. Nobody can out-tank the Blazers.

I think there's still a low possibility of a tie to move things around slightly, but according to our guy:
Lakers pick:
1-10 goes to Pels
11-30 goes to Grizzlies
Pelicans pick:
1-4 goes to Pels
5-14 goes to Portland
15-30 goes to Charlotte

The 2-4 seeds in the East bouta go crazy over this next week. Boston lined up against Brooklyn right now (I'm just assuming they beat the Cavs). Worrisome.
The 3 seed is extremely valuable I think. Get to avoid Brooklyn for the first 2 rounds, plus you get round 1 vs Chicago instead of Toronto.

Made progress from last year is all I care about. If PWill continues to trend up he's gonna be a force next year. If they can would love to move Vucevic for someone who fits.

The 41-38 Nets, who are still fighting to stay in the play-in and are losing right now to the crappy Knicks, are worrisome? Nah. The Nets are a paper champion. I don't care how good Durant is, and he is a top 3-4 NBA player for sure when healthy (whenever that is), but they are atrocious defensively and not a legit threat to win anything.

I would feel a lot more comfortable against the Nets if they had TimeLord available. Without him vs a motivated Durant/Irving would be a very tough series.
But Atlanta hasn't conceded that #8 spot to them yet and as you mentioned, they would still have to beat the Cavs. All this is far from a done deal.
At this point, I think the Celtics should still try to earn the 2-seed so as to get home court in the 2nd round. Too many variables in play to try and maneuver down to the #3. Of course if Milwaukee has the same idea and tries to win tonight, beating them at home without Williams on the second leg of a back to back is a very difficult task. Tatum only played 30 minutes last night and I don't think he played in the 4th at all but Brown played 35 and was in during most of the 4th qtr. I don't think Smart or Horford played in the 4th either.

So the Pelicans are due one pick from the Lakers, but also owe a protected pick to the Portland Trail Blazers from the McCollum trade.
The Lakers pick goes to Memphis if it falls outside of the top 10 and the Pelicans’ pick goes to Portland if it falls outside of the top-4.
So how about the New Orleans Pelicans just keep them both?
I did two spins over at Tankathon and got a simulation in which the Pelicans jump up six spots to the 4th pick with their own pick and the Lakers’ dropped one spot to the 10th pick, meaning they would keep both.
If the Pelicans get some lottery luck and jump into the top-4, there is a good chance they will end up with two picks in the top-10.
So I'm saying there's a chance

As good as Smart is, I think his rise to DPOY favorite has been a little comical. He was at 40/1 odds just a couple weeks ago, then RWIII got hurt and he immediately vaulted to the top. I don't think it should work that way!
Voter fatigue + Utah's recent struggles probably keeps this from happening, but my take is that Gobert should repeat as DPOY. As Tim MacMahon noted this morning, the Jazz have the best defense in basketball (105.1 drtg) when Gobert is on the floor, and a bottom-10 defense (112.3 drtg) when he's off. He's singlehandedly making that entire defense respectable yet again.

The more I think about it, I think this whole "ducking teams" thing invites negative karma. Bucks had the opportunity to duck Miami last year, but they played to win, and they ending up beating the Heat in 4 games.

I agree. Don't like the idea of Tatum sitting and it could come back to bite them.
That said, I watched the entire game because the Celtics gave Milwaukee fits with Brown, Smart and the JV squad. If they make one or two more plays down the stretch, they could have stole that one. Middleton and Holiday made some great plays and shots to save that game for the Bucks.
Joker....only player in history to go 2K-1K-500 in a season.....

didnt see that as a tank - although who wouldnt wanna face the Bulls right now - but resting the star & ol' man on their last back2back. it took the Green a while to forge their identity and move from several games under .500 into contention so they didnt have any winddown/gearup time and theyre one star down already. they can mebbe reconnect with Timelord's timeline if they dont lose another. and they were all-out to win once they got it close.Jayrod said:

For the season, he is 5th in points, first in rebounds, 6th in assists, 10th in steals, 8th in FG% (the 7 ahead of him are strictly play finishing centers). The idea that he is only getting his 2nd MVP because of his advanced stats is crazy. The traditional counting stats do him plenty of justice, the advanced stats just do a better job of highlighting how crazy it is to have a guy dominate across the board like he is.
He still leads the Nuggets in all five major categories (per game and totals) - the only other player I know that did that is Garnett in 02-03 (he averaged 23/13.4/4/1.4/1.6 and edged Nesterovic by 0.07 bpg).

It'll be interesting to see how the Bucks approach tonight's game against the Pistons and then Sunday's matinee against Cleveland. We know they don't have that loser's mentality where they'd try to duck the Nets, and they talked post-game like they want the #2 seed, but health is certainly the priority. Time will tell...

I could be wrong but I thought Noah did this for the Bulls that one year. Maybe Butler had PTs or Steals but I remember Noah was leading or close in a number of categories in his really great year.

Every Player GM Lebron let go is in the playoffs or at least in a play in game this year while LeFlop is sitting at home during the playoffs. Crazy and just shows what an egomaniac and how bad it is to listen to players. Great example why Players would play the game and let the GM/Coach handle the other parts of the roster. You can give your take and opinion but final call should be those who's actual job is to work in the FO.

Yeah, this Blazers' roster is really something. They were led in scoring by Drew Eubanks, an undrafted 6'9" Center from Oregon State. How bad is he? Well, I live in the state of Oregon which has just two legit NCAA hoops teams. Despite playing in my backyard, I had never heard of him until he signed with the Blazers. How is that even possible???
Rest of that roster....yeesh. It's not even Summer League material.

Not true. Kuzma is not in the playoffs, Hart is not in the playoffs, Julius Randle is not in the playoffs. Lonzo Ball and Caruso are in the playoffs by default—they can thank Derozan/Lavine for it. I understand that you hate Lebron—but making up fake narratives is pretty wack.

That's also what I didn't say. I said GM has final say on Roster Lebron can have his opinion but it'll be known he will get vetoed on some of opinions and everything won't be going his way. The dude completely destroyed a legit playoff roster just because he wanted his friends there.

It's not weak at all. Look at the History of teams Lebrons been on and after he leaves them. Leaves them worse for wear. He's nothing but a hired Gun at this point. These GMs need to grow some balls back and take some of their league back from these immature million $$$$ babies. Life isn't fair. I don't know how some of these guys made it this far in life. All they want to hear is how great they are and you stroke their egos for the most part. Can't give any of them constructive criticism. There's a lot more Ben SImmon's types in this league. Some have gotten away with it more then others just on sheer talent.
Lebron also plays both sides of the isle on issues you really don't know where he's at. All for social justice but won't say anything about the NBA's partnership with China who have child slave labors. Wants people to get Vaccinated but initials puts a meme up saying Covid is nothing more then the flu. Sometimes better not to saying anything at all then to make yourself look like a jackass

That would make zero sense, which to be clear does not mean they wouldn't do it. With only Westbrook's stretch, James, Davis, Reaves, Gabriel and minimum cap holds, they would have about $7.5 million in cap space. That's assuming they can find a home for Nunn (not without attaching a future second or two) and THT (he could probably be dumped but nobody is giving them anything).
They could probably play some cap gymnastics and buy a couple late second rounders or sign a couple undrafted rookie free agents for a little less than the minimum cap hold to squeeze that to $9M or so but what is that going to do?
I think they would be better off holding on to Westbrook, THT, Nunn and Stanley Johnson, using the tax payer MLE (it's $1 higher than the room MLE) and resetting after next season. There is very little chance that they'll get more value out of $9 million bucks than they will out of those 4. They'll just need to be really honest with themselves and with Westbrook and give him an ultimatum of either being a 20-25 mpg 6th man or they'll send him home until his contract expires.
With the mid-level, pray somebody like Gary Harris or Malik Monk takes it, then fill the roster with a better blend of young fliers (Kevin Knox, Bol Bol, Jarrett Culver, Moses Brown types), and old guys (bring back Melo and Howard, look to sign guys like Dragic, McGruder, Frank the Tank, Tristan Thompson to fill out the back end) and just hope a couple of the young guys hit and can make you competitive enough to get to the 2nd round so Lebron and Davis don't look to leave and then rebuild in the 23-24 offseason.

He was:
- 7th on the team in scoring (including a 10 game stint from Rose in his depressing return from the ACL injury).
- First in rebounds by 3 full rpg
- First in assists - Augustin was second with 5.0.
- Second in steals, Jimmy averaged 1.9 vs Joakim's 1.2
- First in blocks, he beat out Gibson by 0.1 MPG

It is a weak take because you just proved my point. I merely commented on your take that virtually all of his Laker teammates that he motivated the organization to trade away are in the playoffs. Several are not. You literally just made that up. When I called you out on it—you went on a completely different rant about why you dislike Lebron. Have not been into the NBA for a while... but a buddy had some great season tix for the Grizzlies this year... 5 rows off the court in the corner.
Got invited to join him for about 10 games, made it to 7-8 and had a ####### blast. This young team is so much fun to watch out there.
Shot the lock off the wallet and added a seat next to his for the 2022-23 season.
$4700 seems like a steal to be down that low for 41 games, and absent multiple major injuries this team will likely be near the top of the heap in the West for a while.
