I think there are some good QBs but I think teams will also covet guys like Barkley, Chubb, Fitzpatrick and Nelson. I think maybe 2 or 3 QBs will go top 5.

I can’t see Indy moving out of there spot until they are on the clock. If 1 and 2 are QBs I don’t see how they could pass on Barkley.
If I am the Cleveland GM I roll the dice and take Barkley at 1 then at 4 you know there will still be 3 QB options there (or maybe even all of them).
For the Giants, I know (from reading posts in this thread) that they said Eli is their guy and they have many holes to fill but if I’m them, I still take a QB here. They have enough pieces (when healthy) that they shouldn’t be picking this high in the draft again. Rosen and Darnold are 21 this year and Eli is 37. That gives them 3 years to groom them and provides them with a backup. This is an opportunity and unless they don’t believe in any of the QBs I think it would be a wasted opportunity so solidify the most important position.
My prediction...
1 Cle Barkley, 2 NYG Darnold, 3 NYJ (trade with Indy) Allen, 4 Cle Rosen, 5 Denver Mayfield. Then the Bills trade up in front of AZ with GB and take Jackson.
*The Jets/Indy trade really works for both teams. The Jets get to jump Cle and Den but Indy sees they can gain extra picks without having to sacrifice any player options because of the likely QB run and Barkley is gone.

I don’t think the Bills will go after Jackson. They just traded a guy that is kinda similar to him. They want a pocket QB.

I have serious doubts that the Browns will take Barkley at #1. Dorsey has never used a high pick on a RB and they already have a similar guy in Duke Johnson. That being said, it's possible someone else trades up for him, though I have a hard time putting my finger on who that might be.

With the Giants (despite what I think) claiming they are set with Eli and Colts not likely to take a QB, there’s a chance that they get their QB and Barkley. I think there’s a much smaller chance that they get Barkley at 4. Plus, they have Tyrod to journeyman which ever QB they can get at 4. A strong run game, decent WRs and journeyman QB to teach/stop gap is a pretty good situation to put a prospect in. Plus, there’s no 100% consensus on the top QB from what I’ve read. If the Browns feel the same then they can let the draft come to them.
I think the vast majority of people would disagree with your statement on Johnson and Barkley. Your thoughts on Barkley may be the divide in our projections. It doesn’t really matter though because we are just splitting hairs with draft order. The fact of it is that if the Bills are looking for a pocket QB then they are probably going to have to get into the top 5. The Giants are the deciding factor. If they go QB it throws everything off.
It seems like the only other team that isn’t in the top 6 that I think could make a move is AZ. But I’m not sure they have enough draft capital to get into the top 3. The Bills have enough to outbid them easily.

Very interesting deal. Sure feels like the Bills are trying to get as high as possible for a QB. Glenn has been hurt a lot, but was by far the best OT on the team. Nice move by the Bengals given the lack of FA's at OT. Risky move by the Bills, but if they get the right QB, it will all be worth it.

Rookie Dion Dawkins started 12 games for the Bills last year and was PFF's #2 rated rookie offensive tackle. And he earned that ranking as he played really really well.travdogg said:

I feel pretty safe in saying that they don't intend to trade next year's picks. My guess is 12, 22, 53, and 96.

Obviously they're not going to sit tight at 12. They're pretty clearly positioning themselves for a move toward the top of the first round.
They theoretically shouldn't need to trade as many picks as you're suggesting to make that happen, but a lot depends on whether teams up top want to drop down.

Probably. Depends on if 4 is high enough though. My guess is that they are actually targeting 2 or 3 to insure nobody leapfrogs them and takes their guy.

Cian Fahey is getting absolutely roasted on Twitter ripping the Bills for this trade while seeming to have not realized that Glenn had probably already been replaced by Dion Dawkins.
I don't think it's a mistake by the Bengals, but I don't see how anyone can blame the Bills for trading away an OT with chronic foot problems in both feet who would have cost $16M+ against the cap this year when rookie Dion Dawkins played so incredibly well last year.

Broncos reportedly giving $18-20M a year to Keenum. Have to see the guarantees and how it's structured, but they may very well be out of the QB sweepstakes and another potential trade partner for the Bills.
And Sammy getting $16M a year from the Chiefs. I'm ok with the Bills not paying him that and getting what they got for him. With Sammy walking away from the Rams (and would have from the Bills too IMO), that trade looks even better for the Bills.

DT is a huge need, but I'm not sure If I love spending a ton of $ for a 29 year old DT who hasn't really lived up to expectations. Especially at what will surely cost them a 2019 compensation pick.
And while I know that these things tend to happen, I'm always skeptical when GMs/Coaches keep bringing in players from their previous teams at contracts that seem inflated.

Its a little worrisome too, that Carolina didn't even make an attempt to keep the guy. Maybe he'll be better reunited with McDermott, but he was awful for the Panthers last year.

I don't think the defense fit him particularly well last year. I would imagine he'll be better back with McDermott. But yeah, I really hope they didn't overpay.
One good sign is that there still isn't any word of the $ involved. If it's big for the player, that is usually out there pretty quickly.

Ugh. There seems to be talk out there that the Bills really like Allen. If they trade all the way up and end up with Allen they'd better be right because he's the QB I like least out of all 5 of the top QBs. Just no accuracy or consistency and, IMO, that trait is very very rarely learned and is THE most important quality in a QB. A QB will never be elite if he doesn't have accuracy. You can have an average arm and be elite with great accuracy. You can't have a cannon for an arm with no accuracy and be elite

I don’t think Glennon changes anything for AZ’s draft plan. Keenum to Denver is the rumour too but I don’t think he changes any draft plans either.
Bridgewater might. He was a Pro Bowl QB in 2015.

Totally agree that the draft doesn't change at all. Just that the Bills need someone with NFL experience even if it's just as a seat warmer or backup.
I was only thinking about the FA carousel, because the Bills need to pick up someone. Might as well do it for as cheaply as possible if the holes for Free Agent QBs are getting filled.

I think the Bills are playing the QB thing right. Move up to draft one and plan on him being the starter sooner rather than later. Wait on the veteran FA QB carousel to settle and grab one of the remaining ones at a lower price.
With the Cards throwing a bunch of money at Bradford and the Jets reportedly in negotiations with Bridgewater, that would leave just the Bills looking for a vet QB as a placeholder/backup. And at the very least, that leaves McCown and McCarron. I think Matt Moore could be a decent cheap signing as well.

I think Mike Glennon would be solid too, he would better than that group in my opinion. He never got a fair shake in Chicago, and I say that as a Bears fan.

McCown @ 6M guaranteed for 2018 with a 6M team option for 2019 sounds good to me. Figure out who like the best from the crop and figure out what it takes to get him. Hope McCown starts between 0-4 games this year.
