Here's the simplest breakdown of our path to the playoffs (putting aside the few very remote/crazy 5th tie-breaker type scenarios):

Correct. I'm lucky enough to be able to watch the games with an All-22 feed present. I have to go back through and watch plays over and over, looking for injuries and notice open receivers etc.
I don't want to make it look like I'm slamming him for it but wish he made the play that was there. This was the same drive he fumbled on and he had guys wide open on nearly every pass. Not the "nfl open" you hear people talk about but a college/ HS version of wide open and he made things more challenging a lot. The first quarter was bad and some stuff shows better in the stats than on the field. The Goedert deep ball was another that comes to mind, great play by him but guys were uncovered on the play.
I mentioned it a couple week back but Sirianni continues to impress. He's getting better and better and guys are constantly open in the pass game.

Anyway ones like this are funny to me because the fan base is conflicted. They love Slay so it’s hard for them to now hate him cause of what he said.
And it is BS how fans boo Reagor when he’s back there. It’s an embarrassing part of being a fan of this team when things like this happen. He didn’t put himself in that spot but I’m sure the “knowledgeable fans” knew that already.

i have to kind of agree with them. not sure where all of this heavy boo'ing came in. i get it if Raegor wasn't practicing or trying hard, but it is just silly booing the guy at this point. his chase down to cause the fumble on that one turnover showed he is trying, and it is just silly to boo someone for trying.

Our media also is making me laugh today too but I expect it from them. Specifically the headlines and stories today about Hurts getting reamed out by Sirianni.

What makes them more impressive, in my opinion, is there seems to be so much more meat on the bone too. The potential on the offense is legit and outside of Kelce all pretty young as well.

$13 million right now, according to Over The Cap. $19MM if they cut Brandon Brooks and trade Dillard. Rest of the potential savings would be either cutting or restructuring Cox, Lane, BG, Slay, Hargrave, and Kelce (who represent $86MM next year.)
They have $22MM in dead cap next year from Alshon, Malik Jackson, and Ertz (all of the Wentz dead money was in 2021).

No, that $22MM is our dead cap in 2022 (players we are paying that aren’t on the roster (we had about $40MM in 2021).
So $13MM. That’s what we have right now.

I didn't hear the chant but I had some loud mouth idiot who was dropping N Bombs left and right from the moment the teams were introduced till he and his buddy left their seats after the 1QTR and never returned. Had he continued I was about to get security involved but they left so I didn't make a big deal. I wasn't worried about myself and some other people in the section I could tell didn't want the guy there. I was more concerned for the WFT fans of 3 sitting almost behind him I thought this dude would act like a jackass and get in a fight with them over something stupid. Dude definitely looked like your typical knuckle dragger meat head.
It's incredible childish too. Also annoying when ou see a post on Facebook or a tweet about something that has nothing to do with politics and some idiot brings it up. Like no-one wants to see it or hear about it. It's worse for those of us who didn't vote for either party and went independent. I just congratulate them on showing their insecurities and letting everyone know about their below the belt issues
I wouldn't be surprised if that guy listens to sports talk. I say constantly Sports radio in this town was the worst thing to ever happen. People just want to complain because it wasn't the guy they wanted running and want them to fail as much as possible. They don't care what Sirianni does or did. Despite the talent gap the Eagles are performing better than a lot of the high power offenses with better talent including Dal.

Wasn't an impressive win. Good playoff teams handle business like this they don't give a TD in the final minutes of a game and they easily should've been up by 20 if not more at HT. They kept a depleted team who had a QB just signed off the streets FRi in the game till almost the end giving them confidence that they could possible win. This game just proved to me a lot of my concerns about this team is still very real.
Yes the entire team was bad 1st QTR but this is a growing trend for Hurts of starting slow and then getting hot at the end sometimes too late. He made a few other mistakes he usually does too. I was inline with my seats with the view of the throw from the top that Goedert caught. Had the defender timed that better that ball is picked off. There were also a few times he threw it when I actually did prefer him to run especially in the first QTR. Most of Hurts Yards passing came on the 3 big long plays. The offensive line played solid but just showed we need more depth. Not even sure why Reagor is still on PR duty. Defense was allowing some big chunk yards still that shouldn't happen especially early. And the team as a whole is still making some bad mistakes. They need to learn to put teams away.
Yeah they did what they needed to do but thats the bare minimum of what was expected in this one. Was very underwhelmed with this win honestly.

He also forced a throw in the EZ when he had a guy wide open. A lot of this is why they aren't happy with Hurts sure. Fans like it but those who know what the coaches see will know thats not stuff their QB should do. Most fans just care about being entertained but that also has a negative effect and makes fans ignorant to the facts of the situations.
Perfect example is I was talking to a buddy of mine involved with the College level and has some NFL people he knows and High School. Patrick Mahomes drives these coaches nuts. He's making all these acrobatic throws that the best of coaches including his Own Andy Reid has him shaking his head as it's the exact stuff you are told not to do. Not everyone can do what Mahomes does and I also consider him very lucky on some of those throws too as they should be picked off. This isn't discrediting his Talent just saying a lot of kids see Mahomes doing this and think they can do it It's getting harder and harder for coaches to stop this. It might look cool to the fans what they do when it works but it's something most coaches ream their QB on. I know for a fact that Andy has gone after Mahomes for some of those throws but at the same time he can also live with it because of how talented the dude is.
In Hurts case he needs to do better. Not saying he's trying to do what Mahomes does but he isn't afforded those privileges Mahomes as considering the talent gap between the two. Just play better smarter football which includes better ball protection.

He totally missed changing the protections on the blitz. Had he made the proper pre snap decisions he doesn't have to keep a play long enough for the throw.

Sanders made the initial comment that set things forward. Slay commented to a fan who was pretty wrong who said Reagor showed no effort and should be booed. I think the dude has shown effort, saved the TD when Hurts fumbled by the WFT defender and forced a fumble that gave us a chance to get the ball back again, and I didn't think him getting stopped short was a lack of effort. I think Slay was more so commenting to the fan because he was wrong on the fact of saying Reagor lacked effort.

Miles seems like one of those guys who thinks he needs to give his opinion on everything. I remember after the last game of the season he played into McLane's BS narrative of a sideline altercation. But within the hour Miles had to take back the comments with egg on his face. Sometimes I think it's just better the dude not saying anything at all then to comment. I mean the comments aren't "Oh my god he needs to be suspended for that." but one of these guys think him trying to give his opinion on things not needed is going to get him in some hot water.

Speaking of 76ers when we left the game a group was selling T-shirts that had Ben Simmons on it with two balls on his chin that were being sold as Ben Simmons ######## shirts. I thought it was funny and considered getting one till I saw the ridiculous price they wanted. Plus they didn't have my size.
One thing I love about Philly is they make shirts for almost every moment good or bad. The shirts when worn in other cities etc become an inside joke between any Philly transplant you meet there too.

I think Noid said it but maybe it was someone else but Sirianni knows what players react too. Wentz wouldn't have reacted the same way as Hurts to yelling and getting in their face where with Reagor Sirianni just gave him the go get em next time.
I think it was Irving who said once that one of the reasons Jimmy Johnson was so good as HC for Dal at times was he knew how to react to players. Some guys reacted well to getting a father like talking too where other guys did better just getting reamed at and getting tough love. Need to know what players react to best to get the most out of them. One of the reasons guys tuned out Chip Kelly here was he had no idea how to talk to players at all. Constantly reaming every guy doesn't do anyone any good.

I don't think that happens tbh. Which is fine, if the Eagles finish 9-8 or 8-9 and miss the playoffs, I am still happy with how the team developed this year. This was a FOUR win team last year with almost no bright spots.

That an maybe signing cheaper players. Or guys coming off injuries that would've commanded a lot outside of getting hurt.
Two guys who fit this is Marcus Maye at Safety and Juju at WR. I think both could be had for cheaper deals. Juju for sure and Maye coming off an Achilles I believe it is in NYJ. I don't think NYJ is gonna franchise him again.

There's this and then also using Slay as a decoy. I like the creativity!
They also used a literal play thats in Madden. Not sure if it was with Slay or not but I think they Handed it to Sanders. The WR went in motion from Hurts blindside. It's called an Orbit route because of half circle in motion when completed looks like orbit around the sun/moon/ etc. I think you can run off the play, pass to the the WR in motion or hand it to him and then theres other routes on the play.
I do like the creativity though. I think going into Year 2 we'll see more stuff like this.
Also Srianni corrected a reporter in the press Conference after the game who called Slay Darrius and before he answered the question he told him "His name is Slay. He's referred to as Big Play Slay." before continuing. Sirianni seems to be growing into the role as time goes on

I'd also be interested in his initial assessments of Mailata and Dillard, since there was no football tape on Mailata to look at....and Dillard was so dominant his senior year in college. IMO, Dillard just isn't nasty enough to be a standout in the NFL. He was always a great pass blocker, but has had to be 'taught' the inherent nastiness that comes with dominant run blocking....something that usually doesn't work out. OTOH, with some more time Dillard could pan out. I just don't think the Eagles will wait.

This story touches on the pre-draft work he did evaluating Mailata:
Stoutland recalled Mailata’s pre-draft workout, and despite having to cancel his golf trip to meet with him, he couldn’t believe that a big person like that could move and change direction so well. He was so happy they had the workout with the inexperienced player, because Stoutland left that workout feeling like the sky’s the limit for him. He wasn’t sure if he expected Mailata to be the type of player to earn the contract extension he recently did, but he did feel like he could be special.
He explained that when he and Howie Roseman and the team are evaluating talent, they try and figure out what’s special about each player and whether that’s something that gives them a little more potential than someone else, and Stoutland felt like Mailata was extraordinary following their pre-draft workout. The coach remembered that they also had some classroom meetings — since he didn’t have any experience — and he drew something on the board, erased it, and told Mailata he’d be back tomorrow to teach it back to the him. Mailata later told Stoutland that after they left the room, he snuck back in to try and see some of the eraser marks. When asked how Mailata did the next day, Stoutland joked that it showed him that he needed to come to Philly so he could be coached.

Another interesting tidbit on how Stoutland was a key driver in getting Mailata was in this story (now behind a paywall). I think most people assume we took a flyer on him with our last pick but we actually moved from #250 in the 7th round up to #233 (by trading #250 and a 2019 7th rounder) because other teams were targeting him:
The Eagles knew they would have competition for Jordan Mailata as the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft unfolded. They had identified four other teams that could have interest in the Australian rugby player who had never played American football.
But Jeff Stoutland was fixated on the Steelers, who were four spots ahead of the Eagles, and for two reasons:
- They were the only other team that had attended the private workout the veteran offensive line coach had conducted in March.
- And they were the only other team of the five that had the roster exemption the league allowed for one international player.
"I later talked to the [Steelers] coach," Stoutland said, "and he goes, 'Son of a #####!'"
And the Steelers also hosted Mailata in a pre-draft workout, so we really did yoink a good one out from under them.
