I know everyone is dying for my contrarian take based on 5 minutes of Youtube videos, but that chart FatMax posted comparing him to other guys at similar height/weight combos was pretty troubling. Unless he's a generational shooter or puts on 50 lbs of muscle to hold up as a switchable rim protector (like an Anthony Davis 2.0), there isn't any precedent for a guy like him being a superstar in the league.

So some bad news for Piston fans. They Pistons have been in the lottery 23 times, they have won the lottery or moved up once. Since they changed the lottery four or five years ago no team with the worst record in the league has won. I did research and this draft looks meh after Wembanyama. Miller could have legal troubles and isn't a great athlete for a wing, Scoot is like 6-1 and can't shoot and I am trying to do this from memory, but the 4th guy can't shoot either.
I'm not a draft expert any more since I don't really have enough time to watch college now, and I know even less about the non-college guys, but I am pretty sure I have read and heard that Scoot would be a pretty much slam dunk for #1 if it wasn't for Wembanyama.
He shot like 27 percent from 3

The win/win scenario if Embiid asks out is OKC. Chet, a boatload of picks, and salary to match. SGA, Giddy, and Embiid.
You’d need more than that for the reigning MVP I think. Chet has already missed a year and is a string bean.

I just threw it together off the top of my head. I don't know their whole roster and they have like 18 first round picks over the next 5ish years.

If Single A is harsh (and here I'd posit that Single A is where some of the best young baseball players get their starts) then would you allow Double AA?
What's the biggest contracts offered to A, AA, and AAA players?

I think that these players listed above are all $2+m/year contracts. There are MLS players paid more than that too, and not just European players at the end of their career.

I'm not even an MLS fan really, but the reality is that the league is not minor league baseball level by any measure.

Okay, but it's also not anywhere near the level of play in Premier League. The Portland Timbers wouldn't stand a chance against those teams. So if it isn't the best of the best, how is it anything other than minor league level? You keep bringing money into this - there are guys making $2+m/year in the NBA, MLB, NFL that you've never heard of. That's a paltry sum of money for major league sports.

The best young kids being developed in the minor leagues of baseball secured lucrative signing bonuses.

Scoot’s goal was to not get hurt. He was pretty much guaranteed to be a top 3 pick this entire year.

Man, Embiid is already 29. Assume Harden opts out, what is really the play here for the Sixers? I'm not being overly critical on his playoff performances and he was hurt, but it feels like he really needs someone else to be the primary offense at times. Harden did that a bit. Make a run at VanVleet or Middleton?
Seemed like they underutilized Maxey in this last series. I'd like to have seen the ball in his hands more than Harden's. I haven't seen a ton of 76er games, but can't Maxey be the #2 to Embid's #1?
Doc couldn't see it. One of many reasons he's out

I don't consider that a good thing.

He couldn’t hit a 3 after Game 5 it felt like. Sixers blew this after the really weird “redo” of the clear path free throws (even though maxey made them). The game just was off after that momentum paused and then they just dribbled out the shot clock and never got it to embiid (and went cold while tatum went crazy and averaged out the game for himself).

I generally won’t penalize any highly-ranked prospect for not being 100% serious about the year of meaningless basketball they’re forced to play before entering the NBA. It’s a dumb rule that creates a bunch of unnecessary risk for those guys.

Yeah, I’m good with top football prospects sitting out their (non-championship) bowl games too. You’re potentially setting up your family for generations - no need to put that at risk.

That is the difference for me. A game or two, is one thing. An entire season bothers me.

So tonight either Lebron goes balls out to steal Game 1 like he did against Golden State or he's going to coast and feel them out and try to figure out how to beat them and unleash something in Game 2.

How's that for hard-hitting analysis?

So either the Lakers win tonight or they don't? Sorry in advance if I didn't follow your post correctly.
I thought he was going the "even if they lose, they win" route.

I like Maxey, not sure he is at that level. We may get to find out by default.

An entire season on the G League Ignite developmental team. It’s not like he was even tanking for his team’s ncaa championship or something like that.

Yea. In general I just don’t see the Sixers moving that guy, even if it would be in their long-term best interests.

I don't either, but if they did OKC makes the most sense.

He’s just not versatile enough as a playmaker. He is pretty much always looking to shoot. If he could mix in more passing, he could possibly do it.
