Is the Heat playing better WITHOUT Tyler Herro?
He and Jimmy don't always make a good 1-2 punch, it seems as though the team is better off with 1 superstar
I hate to draw comparisons to Jimmy's idol MJ but that smile when he was running down the court, that nose to nose face off in the 4th, I saw shades of Butler's idol
I'm not saying they are anywhere close, not at all but the attitude and the way he's handling his business right now, just reminds me of someone I've seen.

Their coach is garbage and its not like theyre getting blown out.
I agree he is in way over his head and will almost certainly be replaced if they fail to get to the finals. But I was just saying we should not ignore the play of the players who definitely shoulder some of the blame for me.
To paraphrase Ted Lasso, a good coach should get the players he or she is coaching to be the best versions of themselves on the court.

Mazzulla is a terrible coach and seemingly is doing the opposite.

Yes, I agree. Kobe was like that too.

This is why insignificant role players should not be chirping at players who can take over a game. I don't know how Grant Williams can look in the mirror tonight and not say "WTF did I do?"
He thought "It worked against the Sixers" not realizing the sixers are softer than them.

They were the same team with Ime as well as same team with Brad.

They should have lost to the Sixers in game 6 if the Sixers weren’t just as soft as well.

Coach is easiest to fire and move on but won’t fix the issues they have had for last 4-5 years

Enjoying watching the playoffs but the last 4-5 minutes are painful with all the stoppage of play. With every TO they go to a commercial.

Ruins the flow and energy of the game.
How else do you propose they televise the game?

Too many TOs. Teams can save TOs and can use 4 each in the 4th quarter. At least limit that to 2 TOs in the 4th quarter.

I remember hearing Pat Riley once say that 75% of the the time after a play in drawn during a TO up it implodes the second the ball is inbounded because once the ball is in the play things get too unpredictable.

The Black Mamba when I lived in Los Angeles and he had the 1st run with Shaq, I was amazed watching him play
One of the best best ever

Yeah, oftentimes it's to give the players a breather

I agree, the Celtics just seem to be one of those teams missing that one piece that will get them over the top (don't ask me what it is, I don't know), but a great coach can often get a team to overachieve. Mazzulla seems utterly clueless.

I have said for years that timeouts should be limited once the game gets under two minutes left. If players and teams cannot execute plays without the coach having to draw it up for them in one of 33 timeouts in the last 100 seconds, then tough crap.

Us: Mazzula needs to take more timeouts

Also us: there are way too many timeouts
Play stops with every foul and every ball that goes OB.

It’s not just fouls that are a problem though. In the NBA, each team is allowed seven timeouts per game. That’s 14 stoppages in a game where fouls and out-of-bounds plays already cut into the action.

Jimmy Butler is a closer, the last 6 minutes, the 4th Q, that's his time and yes the Heat wouldn't have even been n range if not for the heroics of Caleb Martin and also Bam within an assist of a Triple-Double but the difference is Butler iclosing out games or is the closer where Boston does not appear to rally behind 1 guy, they typically are balanced and that wins them a lot of games. They beat the Heat in Game 7 last year, i don't think the Series is quite over and what happens if Boston wins Game 3 like Chuck eluded to in the post game last night.

The great ones were closers and Jimmy has never won a Title, still is great but the title or the desire to get one is what's driving him. I do believe he believes this might be his best opportunity to this point. And honestly, the Denver Nuggets on paper would blow the Heat out in 5 games, all these Heat heroics may be for not in the end.

But as long as the Heat can stay in games and get into the 4th with Spo's leadership and rally around Jimmy B, they's got a winning formula cooking right now.
Miami's 3-6 is what is keeping them in the game until the Superstars take over late however, Vincent makes a terrible foul, then quickly drains a bucket to off set and also drains free throws late to help ice the game. Miami is getting unbelievable production from their role players and don't discount leadership like Lowery and Love even if their skills have diminished some over the years.

Guess I've just gotten used to it.

Most all sporting events do it...

TO's are obviously important for TV sponsorship. Even when coaches don't call time outs they build them into the game so that they can show more commercials.

For me basketball is the best sport in the world when it is allowed to flow. But the game is not built that way at the highest level.

The ironic thing is that Williams was playing one of his best games in forever and now is taking so much heat.
Yeah. It obviously wasn't wise to chirp at Jimmy, but where is that fire from your two star players? No field goals from either in the 4th quarter. Very rarely is that going to be good enough to get a win in the playoffs.

Mazzula drives me nuts but it’s not on him .It has to be near impossible to win when Tatum & Brown end up with zero FGs in the 4th

I’ve just about given up watching most sports live - record and start 30 minutes or so in and skip commercials and halftime

We can't say Mazzula is a bust as a coach yet. He is still learning. I don't remember, but I bet people were saying the same crap about Spoelstra early on especially when he was helping the Heat blow a two to one lead in the finals against the Mavericks with LeBron, Wade and Bosh.

'Still learning' sounds awesome for the Celt fans, I'm sure

Dude is 34 years old, his first coaching job, and last I checked he is human. He is going to learn. And make mistakes just like everyone else.

If the Celtics beat the Heat in the series, which is still very possible, the narrative on Mazzula will be a 180 from today's. It's about making shots and Brown missed a ton of shots.

There's a video going around alleging that Butler could be Jordan's biological son. Butler grew up without a Dad in Houston (I believe)...Jordan played a game in Houston 9 months before he was born. They put up side by side half face pics of both and they look like they could be father and son.

It's also about playing Horford instead of Timelord for the last almost 8 minutes of the game with the game very winnable.

Sure Coach Joe will undoubtedly get better.

Haven't heard him say once that he made a bad decision.

And that includes watching 'The Town' 3-4 times a week

But he's done/not done a ton of things that an average coach would do to help his team win
I agree but for me it’s on Tatum/Brown
So Tatum after the game said "I felt a little tired with the late (8:30) start".

As a Sixers' fan, i could not be happier that Boston fans and media have anointed Tatum as the leader for this team, with the over abundance of Boston media keep hyping him to All-NBA.

So you like it when Philly fans and media hype up Embiid to help him win MVP, but dislike it when other fanbases and media do it to help their guy get awards? Seems odd.

I wouldn’t bury the Celtics just yet. They can win four of five against the Heat. I don’t think they will but they can.

I think if the Celts win game 3, this is going to 7 games. It seems a bit dramatic to call this 3rd game a big game for Miami after they just won 2 on the road but I think it is for them.

i know you hate the Sixers, but let us not pretend that the Philly media has the same pull as all of the Ringer employees having votes etc. Embiid has more to show for sure, and if he can ever stay healthy maybe he can.

I don't hate the 76ers other than Harden. It is just hypocritical to whine about media and fans propping up their guys. They all do it and yes some markets have more pull than others, same as always.

I am not sure what you mean by more to show. Right now I would easily take Tatum's career over Embiid's.

If I’m a Celtics fan (and I’m decidedly not, I hate them), there’s two things that worry me - Spolestra, who is just a fantastic coach and how worn out/banged up are Tatum and Brown?

Makes me start to wonder if the rumors about Brown and Tatum disliking each other are true and it is showing on the court.

I remember this Murray from that series against Mitchell and the Jazz. It was a long road, but welcome back Jamal. We missed you.
