I think Miami fights them hard tonight but Denver wins and covers the 8.5. I imagine not a lot of work is getting done in Denver today.
Nope. Here in Colorado Springs, I took off at lunch. Already planning a half day tomorrow.

I got some ribs to cook, beans and lots of beer.
I agree with you that Miami comes out motivated and makes a game of it, but Denver does one of their 12-0 runs in the third and we can :suds:

On a total side note, we are getting absolutely hammered here-weather wise. It has rained non-stop for over 12 hours, over five inches has come down and it is still just pouring down. We have a ton of hail coming down and it looks like it snowed in my backyard. Now, the tornado warning alarm is going off, but it looks like the rotation is 5 miles south of us moving east luckily. The game aside, I am glad I am home with my family. .

Five inches of rain is a lot of water! Flooding around?

I don't see how Miami wins tonight. The Nuggets have played like there B game the entire series and except for the 4th quarter of game 2 they have been able to keep Miami at arms reach and there is no reason to think that this won't continue tonight.

My whole office is pretty well empty. Tomorrow morning will be an easy drive in during rush hour, I expect.

Of the major sports, Denver has only won one title at home (Avs in 00-01) and the city rioted. Could be an interesting night as I'm leaving the game.

Be careful.

Didn't the Avs win like 2 years ago?

Last year but on the road. Same with their first Stanley Cup. Obviously the Super Bowl wins were elsewhere as well.

I think it could create a different atmosphere in downtown as 18k people roll out at the same time plus all the bars and whatnot.

I'm bringing my ski mask just in case I want to flip over a cop car or two.

Safety first.

Per Shams, the Pelicans are "seriously pursuing" a trade-up in the draft for Scoot. I'd love this for Scoot, since neither Charlotte nor Portland are great landing spots. Not sure what the Pelicans give up to make this happen though. Do the Blazers/Hornets see Brandon Ingram as their missing piece?

My bad I totally glanced past the home part. Carry on. Good luck tonight.

NBA Draft in 10 days. This draft is absolutely loaded. Especially at the point :towelwave:

Scoot is the no brainer #2 pick IMO. No matter who is picking.

Amen Thompson is as good an athlete as you'll ever see from the position. Love me some Anthony Black too. If he can improve from the outside, he's an All Star IMO.

I see lots of people speculating that Zion is the one who would be dealt.

I think either would deal for Zion's upside. Problem lies Zion's big money is already kicking in this season 🤣 Shockingly. His trade value is a lot less than it was on a rookie deal as a very very very oft injured star.

I wouldn't deal Ingram personally. I think they can still either draft a solid PG or move up for one that isn't Scoot. One of the best PG drafts in recent memory.

Portland seems hell bent on rebuilding with Dame for the 495th time. Might as well go big with someone like Zion.

In the end, I don't think Pelicans deal Zion.

Yes this is a good draft for sure. Lots of elite talent.

Totally agree with this. Vegas has Miller as the solid favorite to go #2 so I put a few bucks on Scoot. The "would be a #1 pick in other drafts" tag is overused, but Scoot deserves it - he would've gone first in the last three drafts, IMO. Compared to Miller, his upside is on another level, plus he hasn't been connected to any homicides.

I'm only about 3 podcasts into my draft research, but apparently Scoot and Thompson can't shoot, like, at all (especially Thompson)? Kevin O'Connor and Russillo were saying this draft is pretty bad outside the top 3 picks.

Scoot's shooting is probably underrated. 32% from the NBA 3P line isn't bad for an 18 year old, and he's gotten so good at midrange shooting that you could definitely see his 3P shot improving too. His mechanics aren't bad and he's solid from the FT line. Amen, on the other hand... :loco: Still a top 5 pick because everything else he does is so crazy, but that shot is definitely broken.

I'm lost at who Houston should draft at #4. We definitely don't need another iso guy who can't shoot.

Himmy Buckets shows up tonight.
I don't see the Heat extending the Series tonight but the Heat have proven many wrong including their fans all Playoffs.
Miami is 2-6 in their last 8 games
To be in the NBA Finals and be 2-6 in your last 8 Playoff games is mighty hard to do.
I think it shows how weak they are overall which makes the Bucks, Knicks and Celtics look even worse that they couldn't get past this team in the East

Miami needs to think about moving a couple players, maybe some well liked players or they are going to stay stuck in this cycle of ECF/Finals but no real threat to beat the West
I remember Barkley hyping the Denver Nuggets 2-3-4 years back and nobody wanted to hear him, wish he had more of a platform tonight, I'd like to hear his thoughts.
Good job Denver, let's see if I can congratulate you again in a few nights but it looks like the Heat have reached their limit.

haven't heard KOC or Russillo pods on the draft yet but the ones i have heard, and the info i've read, says the same. 3 player draft. everyone after that is a crapshoot.

of course the American players are freak athletes... but that's like sending the big kid off the bus first. sure he looks impressive but he might have 2 left feet and be blind in one eye.

Unfortunately the rain will have no impact inside the arena but in theory Miami likes the rain
Enjoy yourself tonight Jester, sounds like you have it all planned.
1 can of "Juicy Bits" by Weldwerks left in my fridge. I also have a sour from them called Bam Bam Rubble Rubble that I had been saving for tonight.

Not at home
I was there :(

Again, Gabe Vincent missing a floater in the lane, point blank from the paint, Miami just misses too many shots that have to fall and it's been a ringing theme the entire Series

Miami Bricks were briefly ahead 5-2, should have been 11-2

Heat are getting good looks, but it is brick city out there. Yikes.
2020 vs the Lakers again, they are just being bullied and outclassed.
Painful to watch, hope they can build on it and pick up a couple recruits for next season.
Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, Bam, Struss, Caleb Martin, all these folks need to be trade pieces of some kind or part of a package.
Not all of them but the Heat need to overturn the roster, BTW UD is retiring
If the Heat are getting smoked, I would let him play the entire 2nd half or as much as he wants in his last game in a Heat uniform

I'm still trying to digest the Struss dunk and no call when the ball even clearly indicated he was fouled as it bounce around the rim, WTBleep!!!
And yes @identikit we like hot takes in here. Won't be the least upset if the Heat win after saying Game Over in the 1st as they are getting dunked on

Hats off to the Heat for at least answering back here in the 1st Q and not rolling over and making this a total blowout before half time.
They still miss too many open looks

Well aware how this thread works

You're the irregular in here, soupy....

The hand is by the rules considered part of the ball and any contact directly on the hand is not suppose to be a foul. Most times NBA refs do call it though but this time I think they got it right.
