2022-23 NBA Thread: “you’ll never let me down like the Heat did”, Miami fan says to giant pile of cocaine (3 Viewers)

Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving “know” a trade is “unlikely to happen,” according to Adam Zagoria of NJ Advance Media.

After weeks of rumors, the Kyrie and KD trades have started to die down. Durant hasn’t changed his stance about wanting to be traded, but the star duo is preparing to play together again, per a league source. This comes around the same time that the Lakers star trio had a phone call to commit to winning together, so that may not be just a coincidence. We may see these failed super teams run it back.

Say what you want about Harden, but pretty team friendly deal when you consider what he could have taken from the Sixers.

(insert 7 page DJ letter about how awful Harden is and how bad that deal is)

Windhorst discussing LeBron Kyrie Westbrook Cleveland etc.

@TheSteinLine

The Lakers and Pacers have indeed exchanged trade proposals on a swap to try to bring Myles Turner and Buddy Hield to L.A., league sources confirm, but no deal is close. The Lakers' offer, I'm told, did attach unspecified draft compensation to Russell Westbrook's $47M contract.

This would be amazing for the Lakers if they can pull this off.

Agreed. Supposedly the holdup is the Lakers don’t want to throw in a second 1st. I’d definitely throw in the second pick as a laker fan. 1 pick = get rid of Russ’s contract, 1 pick = get Turner (Hield is a net neutral in my mind with his contract).

They could probably turn Turner into a late 1st down the road or use him to pursue Kyrie. Would Turner plus THT (and maybe a 2nd rounder or two) be enough for the Nets to trade Kyrie if he asks to be traded?

Some reporter, I think from the Athletic said that Lakers/Pacers deal is dead. Lakers won’t give up the second first bc they are dumb.

Yeah, as @Yo Mama, @Yo Mama's Moma, @Your Daddy, @Your Mom, and @Cappy's SandwichMakingBoyToy said, you have to give up that second pick here. If this thing keeps tanking like this Lebron and/or AD will be out of there as soon as possible and you aren't rebuilding with one pick anyway. This gives them a legit playoff team.

Of course, as a fan of the Favorite to come out of the West, I hope they're dumb enough to not do it.

I wouldn't get overly excited or upset over the 76ers arena plans. They know it won't move Forward. Josh Harris the majority owner owns the NJ Devils and already has the new Practice Facility for the 76ers in Camden. Howard Eskin a radio personality yrs ago said Harris would try to eventually move the team to NJ but a lot of people have blown Eskin off over the years on it. Heard from the same source who past down news to me on why Brown officially left and why Hinkie left that Harris goal was to move the team to NJ but location wasn't known yet. Said Harris would get his people to make BS renders and propose sites in the city he knew wouldn't be okay'd. That way after he "exhausted all his options" he can announce a site in NJ to build an arena for the team and defend it, with Philly couldn't accommodate us.

Seems like a post to distract everyone from the Wolves over/under being 68.5 this year.

Paolo Banchero looked REAL good in pre-season. He plays like a guard in such a huge frame. More athletic Luka type player?

Chet looks like he'll be good too. He'll be dynamic on offense and he seems to use his frame well enough on D. He'll still get bullied, but even if players get him under the rim, his arms are so long that it doesn't matter much. I thought he would be a bust, but he'll stay in the league a while health permitting. Not sure if he'll be a superstar due to his lack of strength.

I didn't get to watch much but I think both those guys will be better than Wiseman. With that said, Wiseman will be a HUGE factor for the Champs this year. He's going to get so many easy points playing with the starters and he's showed shot altering ability on the defensive end.  He still sucks at rebounding for someone so big and so athletic. Moody looks like he'll be able to handle more play making duties next year and possibly jump ahead of Kuminga in the rotation. JK showed his athleticism, but struggled having to create his own shot. Kuminga's one saving grace is he draws fouls, but his FT% is poor so it's not a huge positive. Overall, I liked what I saw for the 3 young guys. Although we lost GP2 and Otto, replacing them with Donte and J. Green was pretty much a damn even swap or close to it. I'm liking the Champs to repeat with Klay shaking off more rust with Poole, Wiseman, Moody, and Kuminga looking like they could improve!

Let's go!!!

Nets and C's said to be engaged in KD trade talks. Brooklyn apparently looking for Brown, Smart, a rotational player, and picks. Should Boston take such a deal?

Well, now that word got out, they might as well go all in with it. Brown only has 2 years left on his deal, and he’s seemed pretty unhappy with the rumors all offseason.

If you can get a few years of runs with Tatum, KD and Rob, that’s worth it IMO.

Jaylen Brown is a very good basketball player. He should be happy that he thought of as highly as he is if he is the centerpiece of a deal for one of the 20 best players to ever play the game. If he is unhappy about that then he needs to get over himself.

I would prefer to put White in the deal but would in no way be a deal breaker.

A White, Brogdon, Tatum, Durant, Al/TL lineup is pretty damn slick

Um, absolutely.  KD has been the best player on the court in every non-Lebron game he's played since he was 12.  I had teams go up against his PG AAU team.  We were way out of our league the couple of times we played them.  But he was a star then and IMO is still the best player I've seen.

Thought Banchero was the easy #1 pick. His versatility is very underrated. John Collins is probably a fair comparison but think he's better shot creator. I don't think he'll be doing as much of that with the Magic's 95 PGs alongside their franchise cornerstone Gary Harris. I've seen Julius Randle comps don't see it. There's a reason you can't win anything with Randle as one of your main guys. And that's not something that's changing.

Chet spends too much time on FBG but he looked solid in summer league. I think he's in a pristine situation with Giddey and SGA to where there's not going to be a whole lot asked of him to create early. Don't think he could have asked for a better spot to get drafted. Absolutely love Giddey. OKC might see to it that they don't win for awhile but I think it's sooner rather than later with another good draft next year.

Wiseman over Melo was an all-time blunder IMO but he's in a great situation if he ever stays healthy. If he can stay on the court, he's going to produce in that role. Pretty sure Zion has played in more games than him over the past 3 years of basketball. Love GS's depth with him/Kuminga/Moody/Poole.

I'm still a little butt hurt about Orlando drafting Banchero.  I was all set for him to raise the Rockets jersey and then the Magic fooled us all.   I don't think Jabari Smith will be a bust but I think the Rockets got a better player in Eason at #17.

You will be back. First game Tatum and KD put up a combined 80 points you would hop right back on that train

Nah u wildin for this one fam

This post makes me want the trade to happen.

I'm not doing anything stupid like burning my Celtics shirts or anything, but I won't be excited about it at all and not follow or root for them nearly as hard.

I'm not a lifetime Celtics fan.  I started rooting a couple of seasons after Brad Stevens became their coach.  Last season was the greatest season I've had as a fan since the 2011 STL Cards and I really, really, really just want them to run it back with what they have right now.

If I become disenfranchised with the players on the team, I'll definitely be backing away as a fan. Not sure what that looks like, but I'm not interested in winning at all costs and may find myself rooting more for the Bucks or the Nuggets.

Chet Holmgren's handles are fascinating to watch, more interesting than the blocked shots or pull-ups.

I can't get enough of the crossovers, and behind-the-backs.

He's undoubtedly one of the most fascinating NBA rookies ever. And Wenbayama is coming next year and he's like, Chet 2.0.
