2022-23 NBA Thread: “you’ll never let me down like the Heat did”, Miami fan says to giant pile of cocaine (1 Viewer)

In other news, the Lakers have jumped all the way to the top after last night's win as favorites out of the West.

The disrespect to Denver is.....something.
Told my buddy on Saturday this whole thing has a very 2020 rematch feel to it for the finals. Lakers and Heat are hot, getting some big performances out of unexpected players.

Denver is impressive in a lot of ways and it is awesome to watch Jokic just dominate at this level. I just wonder if they have the shooting consistency and depth.
The tough thing about LA is obviously you have their big 2, but there are at least 3 other dudes (Russ/Reaves/Rui...now kind of add Walker, maybe) who can (and have) popped off for 20 any given night. It's completely unpredictable who will be hot, and you have to adjust your gameplan on the fly to compensate.

Would Maxey be the third pick in the 2020 draft if they re-did it? Your candidates:

Edwards (1)
Ball (3)
Pat Williams (4)
Okongwu (6)
Haliburton (12)
Maxey (21)
Quickley (25)
McDaniels (28)
Bane (30)
Paul Reed (58)

whew, at least we got good officiating tonight. Sixers up = 10 fouls on them. Boston losing = 2 fouls called on them. Keep it up refs until the game gets close or even i guess

GP Jr. pulling a Paul Pierce?
Exactly my first thought. Ooops, poop.
Just saw a clip of Gary Payton Jr throwing up but keeping it in his mouth while he finished off the defensive possession …that’s why he ran off.
happened to me once. except i threw up on the court first.

and then got yelled at by the coach for being a quitter because i had to check out.

man, watching Embiid come out to try and get in the face of a 3 point shot has to be something. like a total eclipse when you think you have a shot

Hanging on Joel's arm like a little kid. No call.
what is good, is it seems like the Sixers knew the game would be called this way. so they aren't paying any mind to it and just playing. Glad to see that. hope they can keep this up

Man, Tatum can be good when he is driving so much. but he really lets the game get to him when the calls aren't coming yelling at the refs

and i know Harden gets crap for getting foul shots, but he earns though on the 3 line. funny how with his step back, sometimes he leans back with the shot, and other times he jumps straight up and collects a foul as the defender hits his arm. Was good to see Smart acknowledge it when Harden got him earlier.

Celtics looking cooked.

Damn. Turning point last game. All Jaylen had to do was take Harden seriously and stay within 5 feet of him. Good job.

lol this officiating. It is pretty much a guarantee if the Celtics don't take a 3 they will get a whistle if the shot doesn't go down. Sixers hold on... going to be a rough last 8-9 minutes

was a nice interview with Charles Barkley from a Philly beat guy today. he talked about his rookie year when he came into the league. 1st 2 pre-season games team is joking around in the locker room, and the 3rd game he gets to the locker room and everyone is quiet. Barkley asks what's up to the team and the team lets him know it is the Celtics so it is different. Game goes on and Dr. J and the C's let each other know they don't care much for each other

I think Maxey goes fourth behind

Edwards, Ball, and Haliburton. It's close between Maxey and Bane, but I think I lean Maxey for the upside

What a win
didn't see that coming. Was finally a great "team" win, with great games from Toby and Maxxey, and the bench chipping in a bit with Melton playing some good D and House cutting to the basket like a guy with no fear. Fun game and glad it didn't come down to Embiid or Harden to have to shoulder the load

Not sure Ball shouldn't be the 4th pick. He'll end up with the best highlight clips and a handful of All-Star games, but do you see him as a consistently winning ballplayer? Horrible defense, erratic decision making, and he always needs the ball to be effective. Give me Edwards, Bane, Haliburton, and Maxey over him.

The best part of being a Kobe fan is all the people who hate him for various reasons that have nothing to do with basketball. The same people talking about Kobe being inefficient are the same who say +/- doesn't tell the full story.

Comparing players who play different positions is weird. (Kobe vs Duncan, Duncan Vs Shaq WTF?)

Wilt Vs Russell - Early on Russell had a far better surrounding cast and played along side of each other longer. Russell also had a top 3 coach and probably the best GM of all time.

Julius Erving does not belong on any list except for incredible dunks. He was Vince Carter before Vince Carter. VERY good, not GREAT.

I would put Jordan at number 1 SG but Mike didn't play against a entire league of players who emulated Jordan as Kobe (and everyone else since has). That doesn't elevate him above Jordan by any means but just a piece of the puzzle.

Bird is underrated. He was a savage.

Curry is a fine player but yall are trippin if you think hes top 10.

Moses Malone isnt top 10 but he should be talked about more.

Kareem is underrated.

I know everyone is dying to hear my hot take considering I put Durant up with Bird in the top 10'ish of all time. I find top 10 too difficult. Prefer a top 15. Not sure where everyone shakes out, but I have 4 tiers.

TIER 1 WINGS
MJ, Lebron - These guys are top two. I still have MJ over Lebron, but it's close.

TIER 1 BIGS
Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Duncan, Shaq - I think I may have all these BIGS above any of the TIER 2 WINGS, but I waver on a few of these

TIER 2 WINGS
Magic, Bird, Curry, Durant, Kobe - Not all these guys are traditional WINGS, but Magic and Curry are too different from traditional point guards for me to have them in a PG category. Also think PG's while incredibly awesome, just don't have the impact on winning quite like WINGS and BIGS

TIER 2 BIGS
Hakeem, KG, Jokic - Love all three of these guys.

So gun to head

1. MJ
2. Lebron
3. Wilt
4. Russell
5. Kareem
6. Magic
7. Duncan
8. Shaq
9. Bird
10. Durant
11. Curry
12. Hakeem
12. KG
14. Jokic
15. Kobe

Great game by the 76ers. It may be their best complete game in the playoffs. Embiid's defense was fantastic tonight and Maxey was a difference maker with his aggressiveness on offense.

The Celtics offense looked out of sorts tonight. Still looks like Tatum & Brown are taking turns on offense. You expect that from Booker & Durant as they learn to play together still, but the Celtics look like world beaters one game and the next they look disjointed.
