2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (1 Viewer)

Seahawks Receive:

1st Round Pick
1st Round Pick
2nd Round Pick
2nd Round Pick
5th Round Pick
Drew Lock
Shelby Harris
Noah Fant

Broncos Receive:

Russell Wilson
4th Round Pick

If this is the actual deal I’m glad we didn’t do it. I don’t know much about Harris either but even with that said it seems like a TON and that’s before you pay him.
If we had done something similar, it would have probably been Hurts, Dillard, and Maddox, plus the picks. Nah, I'm good. With Wilson and Brady out of the NFC, I'll take my chances building around Hurts next year and re-assessing after that.

Denver cant develop any qbs so I guess this is what they feel they have to do.  but man Elway is gonna take heat if/when this doesn't work and they are stuck with an old crappy Wilson and no drafts picks for the next 2 years
I believe Elway is out.  His contract expired and wasn't renewed.  He's looking to latch on to be part of the next ownership group.

I'm sure somebody will tell me if I'm mistaken with that situation.

All we gotta do now is avoid trading for Deshaun Watson, and the weight is lifted about all these 1st round picks we have....and still have. Really happy we didn't do a deal like this for Russ.

Lot of names being linked to the Eagles for Free Agency, which is always a good thing. Hoping we can land maybe one or a few of: CB, WR, FS/SS. Probably won't be going after too much DL in free agency considering the reported strength of this incoming draft class there. CB looks like there is some good talent there as well, but signing someone like JC Jackson would be pretty awesome. Pair that up with a guy like Allen Robinson, going into the draft, would be super awesome.

Not sure  but besides manning he has pretty much sucked

I want Watson if the price is reasonable.  Guy might be crazy with the massages but he's an awesome qb

Den traded a whole lot to be the 3rd best team in that Division and maybe still not make the playoffs

Probably at least 2 1st this year, our first next year a 2 this and next year, Hurts, Goardet/Sanders plus Milton Willliams and a 5th. Yeah way too much. I heard one of Den's execs has had a pitched tent for Russel Wilson though since his draft year so credit to Sea for taking advantage of that.

What is he 33?   He might have a couple years left but honestly he looked really bad and disinterested last year.

Even the year before despite a good year he had the body language of someone just trying to go through the motions. Russ is a high character guy so I doubt we'll hear him bad mouthing SEA at all.

I don't see them taking him. The stuff recently about Howie sending PI's to Houston to personally look into this was something he did "LAST YEAR" not something recently. Howie isn't giving up a 1st let alone a 2nd rounder for Watson right now till things clear up. Andy Reid isn't here for this to make sense in terms of giving people a 2nd chance. Yes Lurie is here and signed off on Vick but that was a low cost high reward. This is highest risk and maybe even low reward in the long run. Just doesn't make sense for the Eagles to do.

Dang I'm happy we didn't pull this deal for Wilson. That's a hell of a lot of loot for a player arguably at the plateau of his career.

This might be unpopular opinion but I've kinda low key hoping we would sign Matty Ice. Our O-line gives us a lot of flexibility.

I honestly don't like how many teams feel like you must have a dual threat QB when it's been pocket passers winning effin Super Bowls.

Stafford is low key pretty mobile. He doesn't run like he use to but he's in the same category as Big Ben in terms of QBs who can move. I'd have have taken Matty Ice on a home coming a few yrs ago but his arm looks cooked.

Albert Breer reporting WAS offered multiple high picks the next three yrs but stopped when it became apparently that SEA wanted to trade Wilson outside of the NFC

I believe the DA will present her case to the grand jury Friday so that should make his situation much more clear moving forward.

Seeing Mike Williams numbers—would you guys be good giving him a deal like that?
Not really, his avg over the last 2 seasons is 900/7 but he did a little better than that last year so he is cashing in.

Not a lot in the NFL Draft vs what flew thru last year in the early 1st Round, think LAC was better off keeping him than losing him in the immediate future.

Still have Herbert on a Rookie deal next couple seasons.

Full terms:
Commanders get: QB Carson Wentz.
#Colts get: This year’s third rounder and next year’s third rounder that can convert to a 2nd based on last year’s incentives.

Washington is paying the full $28 million due to Carson Wentz this year, which includes a $5 million roster bonus due next week.

Reading between the lines they either have a distorted view of Wentz or they absolutely HATE this class of QB’s.

Ignoring that Jeff McLane wrote it, would anyone here be surprised if this happened during the Super Bowl run

Sometime before the championship game, Wentz voiced his displeasure with the Eagles’ success to a group of other injured players, sources with direct knowledge of the incident said. One of the players immediately confronted him and the two eventually had to be separated.

Yes. This is peak McLane suggesting he’s mad at our success. He’s earned the right for fans to dismiss anything he says.

Most likely and logical would be he’s upset he’s not playing. But McLane gotta get those clicks.

Not a chance it went down like that. Remember the separating Kelce on the sidelines that no one ever saw?

My guess is Carson lamented that it wasn't him out there at some point and it's being spun as "he's mad they're winning."
Makes sense.  I never trust McLane but it didn't sound impossible either.

I thought this was ultimately meaningless but interesting

When considering what the Eagles traded to acquire the pick for Carson Wentz in 2016, teams have now surrendered the following draft picks to land Wentz: - 3 1st-round picks - 1 2nd-round pick - 4 3rd-round picks (one could become a 2nd-rounder) - 1 4th-round pick

we can put it on stone now, Howie won this trade to the Colts hands down.

I'm happy we get to beat up on wentz twice a year.  Looking forward to it.

This is fun. There is a blurb also from Jeff McManus that seems to be from the same incident years back, and it appears to be Sproles that was the one that confronted him. Considering how quiet Sproles is (and of course *if* true) this would be significant.

Except that now Colts reporters reporting all the same issues McLane did... lack of leadership, doesnt respond to coaching, etc...

End of the day its not a bad bet for Washington. Two 3rds? We gave up a 3rd for half a year of Golden Tate, so sure. I doubt he's actively worse then Heinecke. Obviously the chance he turns it around is much less now - if Reich couldn't do it with him and the Colts bailed, the odds he puts it together in Washington aren't great.

They are paying a lot for him tho.  They must have panicked and felt they needed SOMEONE and didnt want to go the rookie route.

I would be because this is false. McLane conveniently puts this out there the day Wentz got traded? I'd take anything from Jeff with a grain of salt. He's been corrected by numerious reporters over the past few yrs. He's gotten so bad with the BS the team plays inside jokes on him especially at press conferences with "technical issues" and other things to try and annoy him. The best part is Jeff is either too dumb or full of himself he just doesn't realize it. Plus anyone who doesn't want to take up or hold up accountability want to be anonymous and it's kind of a weak move.

The problem I have with a lot of the Wentz disinformation is this cities fanbase eats this stuff up like a bunch of clowns and feed into their emotions. Despite most of the anonymous sources being discredited already and numerious respected former and current players from Jenkins, Kelce, Long, Ertz, Graham, etc coming to Carsons aide and even Nick Foles mentioning some good things. But the masses who hate Wentz will ignore it.

Is Wentz sometimes hard to work with? Absolutely but no worse then a lot of other guys in the league. Tom Brady is considered one of the greatest QBs ever but he's known as being one of the most difficult to work with as well. People in this city want to pain this image that Carson is no different then Ben Simmons. Only similarity was neither wanted to play here anymore. Carson was pretty professional voicing to the team and those who needed that he wanted out. Ben acted like a complete baby and used a mental health issue he didn't have to get out. Huge Difference plus Wentz helped the team win a super bowl.

I heard something a few months after the SB so my memory is a bit hazy on the whole story. Cliff notes of what I remember is Wentz said to a teammate rehabbing that he felt bad he wasn't out there helping the team win a SB and wished it was them out there and not watching from the sidelines. McLane misconstrued the whole thing.

This is no different then when he mentioned Lurie didn't travel to Cleveland with the team as he was upset about the teams play. The fact was and Tim McManus reporter Lurie with Covid was taking precautions and not going since he was going to see his mother in Boston for Thanksgiving.

Also convent this article comes out the same day Carson gets traded back into the division?

From what I remember it was miscommunication between the two. Wentz mentioned something how he felt bad he wasn't out there and asked if others felt the same way.

Also it's Jeff McLane McManus is Tim McManus who writes for ESPN and covers the Eagles and goes on 97.5 from time to time. Jeff writes for the Inquire which has most of their articles behind a pay wall now.

That wasn’t just McLane. That was nearly everyone. McLane was the one that said Howie had a “shrine and life size poster in his office of Wentz” that turned out to be a Super Bowl banner. He’s not a reporter in any sense of the word and is just a story teller and only goes for clicks. There’s so many examples it’s ridiculous.

Bingo

WAS is DESPERATE at QB but I wouldn't be shocked if Wentz becomes a pain in the ### for us and plays well similar to when DJac played against us and had his best games post Eagles career vs us.
I’ll be shocked if he plays 7-8 games before being hurt or benched.

Reading a lot of the articles they are essentially piggy backing off of what some of the Eagles reporters wrote and some of the Colts guys never gave Wentz a chance. One of my guys said Colts could win a SB with Wentz and some of these clowns in Indy reporting for the team would never accept him still. Most of his teammates have come out in support of him too.

Some hate the people that McLane writes about so much it clouds their judgement. Jeff has a little army that swings off his nuts too and will defend him. Only reason the Inquire still employs him is for these hot takes and it gets the website clicks. Because they are behind a pay wall it generates subs for them.

I was talking to another guy on twitter who knew someone who worked for the Eagles in some capacity awhile back. He had a good take on the fact a lot of sports fans are casuals who think they know more than they do. They will argue easy points but can't really dig deep for a healthy debate since they won't understand stuff. The Carson reports are just easy banter for casual fans. Reporters know how to play with fans emotions and Jeff has become an expert at this. He panders to the WIP knuckle dragger crew.

Didn't get hurt this year. I honestly think the injury thing is just random sometimes. stafford couldn't stay on the field for like his first 4-5 years and now he's been an ironman.

But being benched is definitely a possibility. No Jonathan Taylor in Wash.

I heard a story about Wentz's time in Philly through a friend of a relative of mine, so not sure it's legit, but it wouldn't be surprising with recent developments.

Wentz had hired a moving company a few years ago- I guess around the time he bought a house in the NJ area. One of the movers was a huge Eagles fan and asked for a picture/autograph, but Wentz did not oblige. Instead, he berated them since he hired them to do a move, and also called the company to complain about it and try to get them fired. Not saying that is legitimate, but seems like he would be the person to do that.
