2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (3 Viewers)

Not a baseball guy (anymore...thanks to Angelos owning the Orioles pretty much my whole life) but definitely was watching that Phillies game. Nice W there (and even the Dodgers lost haha). Really looking forward to seeing all that energy transferred into tonight's game. Gotta believe the Linc might hit a decibel we haven't seen before.

GO BIRDS!!
After the amazing weekend the Phillies gave us, the Eagles have to continue the momentum! Hell, even the Flyers are 2-0!

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!! :football:

Best case: Total domination from start to finish, reminiscent of the 44-6 game.

Worst case: Repeat of the drubbing we took in Dallas last year, and a major injury to top it off.

well, if biggest competition is going to be GB or TB, i think the Eagles will be ok. both teams are simply not scary watching these 1:00 games

and after watching Kyler Murray again and some other games today, i don't see any reason why they don't sign Hurts to another contract. I think they do that, and can draft a QB in a few years if uncertain, but i don't think there will be anybody that stands out that i would want, and could conceivably be available, over Hurts after seeing the first 6 weeks of the NFL this year

Well we won but it wasn't pretty. We need to clean up the special teams issues outside of Elliot, hope the OL injuries aren't bad, good sign seeing CJGJ back in after that injury and getting another pick too, and we got to clean up this 2nd half ******** starting poorly. A lot to focus on during the bye week here.

I'd wait till after the playoffs see what he does then. Also Murray has been overrated for yrs and people are figuring out Kliff Littleberries fast. He'll be back coaching the college ranks in no time.

i saw Lane's was a concussion, so should be ok after the bye

Thats good not the Concussion obviously but it's not like season ending injury type.

Saints lost today so top 6 pick still. We need Pitt LAV, DET and some others to start putting a win or 2 together though. NO has kept it close in most of their games though.

Like my head coach used to say "offense fills the seats, defense wins championships."

Very impressed with our D.
I’ll be more impressed when they play a complete game and don’t turtle up in the 3rd Qtr. That’s all Gannon.
The first drive in the 3rd quarter they had 3 pass plays and 1 run before punting.
The next drive they had 4 pass plays and 1 run before punting.
The drive after that they got a TD (and started in the 4th quarter).

They didn't 'turtle up' in the 3rd. The plays just didn't work. Dallas had good pressure (especially with Parsons over Driscoll) and forced punts. Both those first two drives ended with a sack.

I was responding to @Gachi talking about the D. They went full ‘prevent’ Defense only up 17, with a whole half to go. They ley Rush and the rush beat them like a drum all the way down the field twice.

Once they started running right at them it was over. Should have done that from the start. Man we are scary good

Overall it was a fairly impressive win. Dallas made some terrific halftime adjustments, and it took a series or two for our offense to adjust back...BUT THEY DID. I agree the defense went too soft a little too early, but tightened back up and got the job done. This is a GOOD team, a very good team.
hopefully we can stop hearing about how the Eagles haven't beaten anybody good, but suspect it will still come since supposedly the Cowboys and Vikings haven't beaten anybody all that good. It's a lame argument in today's NFL, but people still make it. Just so strange looking ahead and realizing this team might not be the underdog again this year, or if they are it will be by small margins on the road (Dallas, NYG being the most likely right now). So excited for this team!

Right, but I think that points to the (now consistent at this point) issue: there’s no anticipation that adjustments are coming and teams are always able to figure out the solution to the game plan we came in with.

Probably the inexperience of the staff. Their success might make us forget about it, but they are still relatively green.

But it’s no longer a random coincidence or something that doesn’t matter because they are winning the games. They have to figure this “2nd quarter boom/3rd quarter bust” thing.

The argument will be made for almost every team because the vast majority of teams this year are not good.

Is it crazy to hope they replace the special teams coach over the bye? Feels like every week there's a huge ST play against, and sooner or later it's going to cost them. That big return broke the shutout and switched momentum for a bit.

I swear, maybe not on here, but "in the atmosphere" I had heard "Wait until week 6" from a few Cowboys fans. Now its wait til week 16. Aight. Take the L and go home and be quiet. Especially YOU Demarcus Lawrence. Didn't see Parsons or Diggs show up much. Heard those guys were good.

Cowboy fans today: "We lost with our backup QB."

Eagles fans today: "We won the Superbowl with ours."

Not crazy, but also not likely. It’s been the most glaring weakness (coaching and talent) all season and has progressively gotten worse, or manifested in different ways, every game.

Didn't see Parsons or Diggs show up much. Heard those guys were good.
Have to admit, the game plan on Parsons was phenomenal. They doubled him throughout the game or RPO'd right at him. Fantastic defensive game plan. DAL made some great adjustments in the 2nd half, but our team took a bit to adjust. Need to do that a bit faster.

I thought Parsons was awesome last night. He was all over the place. Without him, the Eagles may have dropped 40 on the Cowboys.

Also, I mean. He has 6 sacks, 2 each of Brady, Stafford and Burrow. Not the most elusive guys behind crappy offensive lines.
Hurts' athleticism and the Eagles offensive line however, a different story.

Give me Lane for the whole game and you wouldn't hear his name if it weren't for Chris Collinsworth swinging on his jock.

My line today is "If you know I got a Nick Foles tattoo, I really don't want to hear about Cooper Rush"

Well Lane Johnson is approaching "best RT to ever play the game" territory...so yeah.

Agree. I am not one to be like "My player doesn't get enough respect" a la Cowboys fans who seem to "live" for that (mainly bc the team overall usually is not great. Zack Martin, Micah Parsons, Zeke, the center that got sick and retired, they live off of this very weird thing) but its funny to me I heard SO MUCH about Parsons who makes his living tackling immobile QBs and I heard NADA ab out the fact Lane Johnson hadn't given up a sack in like 1.5 years. But whatevers. They saw what he did.

And still can't crack the top 100 players list. Yeah, I know that's meaningless but still shows a total lack of respect.
Thats ok, f respect. Let them give it after we roll ya. Philly is never going to be a media darling so might as well keep the secrets as secretive as we can. "Eagles best offensive line" not a moniker its the truth. They don't believe it, they'll find out.

Ah, gotcha. Did they actually go prevent defense? Or did Dallas just put together two good drives? Seemed like they really just got the running game going strong, where the first half they didn't really do it much. First half the Cowboys kept trying to pass down the field against our top CB's, and Slay and Bradberry kicked their ***. The two scoring drives it was running and short passes it seems. Felt like the Cowboys switched up their offense a bit at the half, and took a bit for the Eagles to adjust..plus I do think the weakness to our defense is a strong run game. Was shocked they didnt go hard at it earlier.

It was Gannon. He plays way to soft with a lead, very reminiscent of Jim Schwartz. Just doesn't stay up on them when he has a lead, plays to let them bleed clock out. Annoying as hell.

i think he plays more to not give up any explosive plays. but yeah, if he is going to stick to this game plan i think he needs to mix in some plays to keep the offenses guessing. like every 3 plays act like it is the 1st half, and not just taking sitting back hoping the offense stalls on their own

lol, i completely forgot about this play. was the strangest no call i think i have seen in a long time. I mean this is definition of block in the back, no?

Par for the course with us vs Dallas. Still smarting about that kickoff recovered fumble where 3 guys came out of a pile, all Eagles, 1 with the ball, but Dallas kept the ball b/c "it wasn't clear which player of the 3 recovered it" even though it was OBVIOUSLY recovered by the Eagles.

Exactly. It looked like it was almost all scheme, not execution. First half, tons of Jordan Davis on the field, even with Cox and Hargreaves. They played that 5-man "diamond" front. Killed the run.

3rd Qtr, it was a 4-man front, playing wide-9. And on Zeke's TD, I couldn't even see a LB anywhere. That would've meant Bradberry probably had responsibility for the gap he busted through, on top of covering Lamb who motioned and drew him away. The closest defender was K'von Wallace standing 15 yds deep in center field.

I get wanting to minimize the big play option when you are killing a team, but a 17 point lead with a full half of football to play is way to early to go into that "sticks" Defense. It's been the biggest part of the Defense's second half struggles, all year, so far.

WE may be over-doing the 2nd quarter/third quarter thing, at least as it applies to this game. The first TD was on the first play of the 2nd quarter, at the tail end of a LOOOOOONNNNG drive. Then in the third, Cowboys figured out how to run a little and had two of their own long drives while Eagles had a short drive after a nice adjustment by Dallas at halftime. Philly only had the ball, what, twice? in the 3rd quarter?
Starting to think the whole thing is more fluky then anything.
