I'm leaning toward 10-7 as my optimistic outlook. Warren Sharp pointed out that while 21 teams play either zero or one short-week road game, the Eagles play four (the most of any team): Week 3 in Washington coming off of a Monday night home game; Week 9 in Houston on Thursday night off a Sunday home game; Week 11 in Indianapolis off a Monday night home game; and Week 16 in Dallas on a Saturday afternoon off a Sunday road game. 2 of those 4 (HOU & WAS) are probably ones most are going to figure as a W, but if those short weeks are a factor in one or both of those games, it might make 10 wins the ceiling. 

 
I could see them going 5-O to start but see some winnable games I can see them loosing.

I could see a 9-8 or 1O-7 I just think Hurts is going to cost us some easy wins here on this schedule. A few easy wins I can see them messing up too.

Thursday games are certainly short weeks, but they are for opponents too....and give the advantage for the following week. And Monday games are only short by a single day....not sure they make that much difference.

This is a good metric to use (for all teams) and something I've learned to use in any handicapping/betting I participated in during the past few seasons. Was often a tiebreaker, especially early in the season.

Between that and the quality of QB they project to face, with a measure of health this projects to be a double digit win season. 

 
At the end of the day - short week/long week, easy schedule - the only that matters for us improving is if Jalen Hurts can take a step forward as a passer. Teams saw what we did last year, and what we did in the playoffs. We're not gonna win running the ball that much this year. Jalen will need to improve and be able to beat teams with his arms.

 
Basically a repeat of the Steven Nelson signing last year. 1-year prove it deal for a CB that didn't have as big a market as he would like. Slight difference is that Nelson's market never materialized, while Bradberry was dropped into the market after a lot of teams already addressed their CB needs in FA or the draft. 

Even if he gives us the same as Nelson did last year, it's still better than what we were going into the season with at CB2. But hopefully we get much more from him than that.

Bradberry was a PFF top 10 CB 2 years back, then he signed with that franchise in New York. Think he is a better player at this point than Nelson, personally.

Either way, probably the best off season on paper the Eagles have had since 2004 when we got T.O.

This team is a playoff team with Jalen Hurts as is. Safe to say, I am excited. 

 
At the very least, this off-season showed that Howie was aware they were not good enough. This team is much improved on paper. Let's see what this coach can do now. 

 
Wow! I like the Bradberry signing. 

Next is the chance we could sign Jessie Bates? He does not want a franchise tag and is preparing to hold out. What kind of deal would it take to sign Bates and could we afford him?

It's a make or break year for him as much as it is for Hurts.

I agree here, no excuses for either. 

For defense adding 2 starting LBs a starting CB, a starting edge rusher and backup/rotations/unicorn/Cox replacement in Davis. This defense looks TOUGH and we have BG coming back, albeit at the end stage of his career. I say we swing and go for the Cinci or Baltimore Safety now, why not?

I don’t agree with the parallel. 

While they have definitely infused the defense with talent, much of it are young and unproven players. I believe that unit as a whole will make strides but I’m not expecting us to be shutting down top teams. 

The talent the offense has rivals the best in the league IMO.

I'm not either, but allowing 80%+ QB completion percentages every other game (and dead last in 2021 overall QB comp %) and being at the bottom of the league in sacks (31st) and near the bottom on turnovers (27th) won't be acceptable and minor improvements shouldn't be either (it's hard NOT to improve a little after being so low.) And that was with a schedule that gave them 8 "cupcake" QBs. 

Same as no one is looking for Hurts to be Brady or Mahomes. They are looking for him to make significant improvements over the things he didn't do well last year, be a difference maker at times, and show he can give his team a chance to win big games or in the postseason. 

Gannon's expectations should be mid-to-upper-third in the league in those stats and show a semi-consistent ability to stop competent QBs from going up and down the field at ease. 

 
On paper, this is the best off-season I can ever remember for the Eagles. The only position they didn't add significant talent is Safety, and I think Epps and Harris will be decent, especially in 2-deep shells.

I haven't felt this good about an off season since we got Owen's and Kearse.    This is on another level than that though.   Crazy good feeling

Who were the QB’s that completed 80% again? I’m to lazy to look but I feel like most, if not all, we’re studs or red hot at the time. 

We feasted on the cupcakes and had those stats but I think we’re looking at it 2 different ways. I don’t think setting expectations that much higher to the point of “no excuses” because we added a couple rookies, a LBer many didn’t know existed in White and Bradberry (does he even have anything left?) is wise. Gannon is part of the equation for sure but until we see these guys the talent is still in question  

Hurts has ZERO excuses next year with what we surrounded him with. We know what we have in every single person on that side of the ball and combined they’re arguably top 5 in talent in the league. There’s still MANY question marks on defense. Right now the names seem good but let’s see if they can play.

Disagree it's a lot of unproven young talent here and still a lot of guys learning. Defenses take 2-3 yrs to really get going. Hurts is now in yr 3 and a full time starter but the team had to totally change how they ran the offense and take the ball out of his hands. The team has weapons all over the place, a #1 WR and great Offensive Line now. Theres zero excuses for Hurts this year. If he can't develop further there's zero excuses and the team is lined up in great shape to get a good QB in the draft in '23.

And the big thing on people's if's of where they put the Eagles in Regular season and how far they go in the post season is Questioning if Hurts is good enough

 
Bradberry had better offers but wanted to go to a winner. According to Adam Scheftar choosing the Eagles was pretty easy choice

I didn't want to mention that season, just because I didn't want to jinx it.

I think the dynamics of this team are a lot different, too. We didn't go out and go nuts in free agency, like that season. We got some solid guys in the draft, and no huge names, like Nnamdi or DRC, Ronnie Brown or Cullen Jenkins that have tons of expectations around them.

At least, I hope. That season sucked. And it is still burned in our collective memory. I cringe every time I hear Dream Team.

Yeah, what a wreck that season was haha. 4-8, to finish 8-8. Yuck.

I think you're right but no way we take him. Especially not after the comments he made during he season about wanting to bring all unvaccinated people to a game and he didn't care about anyone else. I think people tend to steer clear of that especially a guy like Beasley who isn't the worst player but definitely not talented enough to take the baggage with either.

Yeah just don't see anyone picking him up with his bagage. Bagage far outweighs the talent and some of his comments on the Vaccines and such won't go over with NFL higher ups especially someone who's pretty liberal like Jeffrey Lurie when it comes to political and social issues

Dude had all the talent in the world just never used it well and he had some sort of mental issues too. Always will appreciate his performance in the Title game vs USC. I remember a coworker of mine at the time saying if both those teams played in the SEC that year they'd probably both have 1 or 2 losses. Terrific game for the title that will go down in history as one of the best Title game performances led comeback though. 

 
Giants have a larger dead cap hit ($11.7M) to have James Bradberry play for the Eagles than the Eagles are actually paying him ($10M)

Bradberry had multiple offers but took the Eagles offer. I'm curious if this was part of the decision. Kinda like giving the Giants the finger for releasing him. If so he's going to fit in nicely in Philly...

I'm starting to wonder if the team culture, etc, + Slay and Hurts recruiting guys is starting to really turn in our favor as well. It seems everyone on the team gets along, is having fun a good, loose locker room.  Can't ever discount the ole payback motivation as well. 

Ok, well per PFT, he said he took a look at the roster and basically the fact he thinks we have a good D-line + playing w Slay made it easy.
