Costs cap space to cut him.Reagor makes it through to the 53…for now.
Word is they wouldn’t budge from wanting a 5th rounder in return.
Yep, but cap relief ($1.8M I think) by trading him. I would rather get him off the books and a 6th than watch him take punts 5 yards sideways for no gain!Costs cap space to cut him.Reagor makes it through to the 53…for now.

I have been beating this drum since Free Agency and the draft. Gannon is just as under the microscope as Hurts this season.Pressure is now squarely on Gannon for defensive performance this year.
Yet he couldn’t beat out Malcom Jenkins or Marcus MayeThey don't have cap issues at all at this point. He wanted to be paid like Marshon Lattimore. He is an outstanding nickel. He is far from a top CB in the league. He does have that swagger you want on the team, but Saints have plenty of depth.Saints really wanted to get rid of him apparently. Could have gotten a 3rd or 4th comp pick for keeping him one year and letting him walk, so there must be some reason they jettisoned him a year earlier for less compensation.
Where are you seeing that. Per Saints reporters they seemed more like they weren't resigning him as they got cap issues and wanted something for him instead of letting him go for free
He's more of a Safety then CB so he wanted to be paid.
Yet he couldn’t beat out Malcom Jenkins or Marcus Maye
CJGJ wasn't in competition for a starting spot with either of them (well, maybe Jenkins in pre-season 2019). Gardner-Johnson has been the starting nickel/slot CB in the Saints' base 4-2-5 defense. He was also good in run defense, lining up in the box in traditional rushing-down situations.
That is one thing the Eagles do need to think about, though -- what role do they want CJGJ to fill. He might be able to walk right in and start as a traditional SS or FS ... but the Saints have never asked him to do that for more than a few plays here and there. He excelled in his slot/nickel/rover role in the Saints' base. Let's see how that translates to another team's scheme. I'm sure the Saints aren't the only team to run a 5-DB base ... don't know if the Eagles do or not.
I mean let's not forget it was downright brutal unless we were playing a squad with a JV QB. Every half-decent QB was completing career high passes against us.I have been beating this drum since Free Agency and the draft. thisPressure is now squarely on Gannon for defensive performance this year. Last year I think we had average tier personnel and the results were below average. This year there are no holes and the talent is Top 10-12. Very good players across the board, just missing 1-2 elite tier players like Cox used to be.
If the results don’t match this year, there’s nowhere else to look.
Now, if they *do* perform according to the talent level, we’re going to have a fun year.
Need to give the opposing QB less pre-snap reads based on who is on the fieldCoverage wise Gannon mostly seems to use Quarters and Quarter-Quarter-Half, with some man sprinkled in occasionally. It seems a lot like the role of the Nickel CB and the weak inside DB are similar. I think at times they switch assignments in response to motion too, but hard to be 100% sure. I think that's one of the reasons they have toyed with guys like Josiah Scott at both nickel and S. To me it looks like those 3 roles are close to interchangeable.
Right, and the refrain from the Gannon believers was that it was the best he could do with the talent he had. IMO, he still underperformed/underwhelmed last season. Just seemed he would rather stick with his schemes and plans instead of trying to maximize the talent and skill of the players he had. The results of that approach speak for themselves.I mean let's not forget it was downright brutal unless we were playing a squad with a JV QB. Every half-decent QB was completing career high passes against us.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAhAHHAH OMG NOThere it is. Reagor to the Vikings.
HAHAHAHA Did you have intel on this or was just this the most hilarious landing spot you could make up?JJAW being sent to SEA (and DK) was one thing. But, Reagor going to MIN (and Jefferson) would just be diabolical.
Dang, Howie actually did it.JJAW being sent to SEA (and DK) was one thing. But, Reagor going to MIN (and Jefferson) would just be diabolical.
I can believe that.Howie is such a savage to send him there. I bet he had better offers but just really wanted to do this.
There was a solid-sourced report yesterday that MIN was engaged in talks for him.HAHAHAHA Did you have intel on this or was just this the most hilarious landing spot you could make up?JJAW being sent to SEA (and DK) was one thing. But, Reagor going to MIN (and Jefferson) would just be diabolical.
Reagor trade gives them some cap breathing room, for now.OTC has the team about $185k over the cap, with the expected practice squad signings upcoming.
Might see a re-done contract or two, or extensions, that kick the can down the road to open up some room.
Yeah, the report was talks broke down yesterday because Eagles wouldn’t budge from a 5th. Vikings played chicken to see if the Eagles would flinch because they didn’t want to keep him on the 53 and cut someone else, but they did.Don't like that it's conditional pick because I don't want to cheer for him really. And he probably won't hit those conditions.
I think I read the conditional would then drop it to a 5th, so not really a factor either way.Don't like that it's conditional pick because I don't want to cheer for him really. And he probably won't hit those conditions.
It does hurt for sure, but I'm happy that Howie can at least admit his mistake and move on from him and not try to make it a pride thing.I think I read the conditional would then drop it to a 5th, so not really a factor either way.Don't like that it's conditional pick because I don't want to cheer for him really. Still brutal. But hey at least we didnt cut him like Raiders did their 2021 1st rounder.
I can see them bringing back Allen or Covey to return punts. Can also see them using the spot on bringing back Tartt. So who knows.Do we really only have 4 WR's right now?

How Howie would it be to go sign JJAW for the minimum now lol
Yeah, right lolHowie is such a savage to send him there. I bet he had better offers but just really wanted to do this.
Not really happy. Just relieved he's gone. Agholar, JJAW, Reagor. Mistakes were made and now they've been corrected.very happy hes gone.
Cain and Covey were signed to PS, so maybe one of them comes back upDo we really only have 4 WR's right now?

Guess we'll find out after this year.Who's trolling who here though? The Vikings have an argument that they got both receivers in that draft slot for the price of one.
Yep. Just nothing about Reagor's mother and you should be good @The NoidI feel like we need a title change from this info. Frankly, this made my day. No more stressing on punt returns. Ironically, I also feel the need to go to the Vikings thread and post a thank you.
I have nothing against Reagor and hope he does well, but Vikings fans on Twitter convinced they have solved their punt return problems is hilarious.I feel like we need a title change from this info. Some hilarious stuff in here haha. For sentimental purposes, here is a link from our draft reactions in 2020: https://forums.footballguys.com/thr...st-100-years-doug-pederson-pla.783255/page-21
No one in our group was happy about that move. I remember screaming at the TV to take Jefferson.
Take the safety and get Reagor or Mims in the secondits touch between mckinnie and jefferson
If you want Reagor, trade down. If you think Jefferson is as good as Lamb do it. Otherwise, get assets.
Nah, take the best Safety. Grab a wr or two in the next two roundsTrade down.
Ooooof.
I think we would have loved him to be Jordan Matthews 2.0Why does this feel like Jordan Mathews 2.0
Raiders cut Keelan Cole due to a roster crunch. He's a solid depth WR that you guys could swoop for free. Would make the Reagor trade look even better... Like something we all do to our unsuspecting leaguemates when we free up a roster spot with a 2-for-1 fantasy trade, then hit the wire with the quickness.
So are people just going to forget we just gave up a 1st rounder next year in the deal too or was that a mistake by NFL.com when I saw it on my phone?
