We're getting steamrolled whoever we face plus I don't think it's really a guarantee we make the SB. I've seen this song and dance with QB's similar to Hurts from Lamar Jackson and others. Look great in regular season unstoppable but then playoffs come around and teams scheme to stop that one threat.

I honestly mainly want to win the SB just to hear if you're actually happy or not but I'm sure there will be "we'll see if he can win two"'

It wouldnt surprise me at all to see them get bounced in the playoffs. I mean, tons of good teams lose in the playoffs every single year. Its more likely then not that they won't represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. But - it's a fun ride and exciting to see them surpassing expectations. I read a stat that going back to 1990, 50% of the time the NFL team with the best regular season record won it all. In the NBA, it's 74% and in MLB it's 18%. I may need to confirm because those numbers just seem way too high.

As someone with no dog in this fight (other than not wanting to see the eagles go undefeated); the Eagles are a good team in a conference (NFC) that is not as loaded as the AFC. So, doesn't matter who they beat as long as they get to the playoffs and hopefully have a first round bye. Hurts looks like a solid QB (I wanted him and Tua on the Dolphins back when Miami Drafted Tua), theuir skill positions are well stocked, and their D is solid. Not sure what else you want in a team.

Are they the Bills? No, but in a one game playoff they could beat the bills and it would not be surprising. Also as part of that, they could lose to the Cowboys, Giants, Niners, Rams (maybe), and vikings.

This Eagles team looks like the Dolphins do, but with a better Defense.

It's nice not having any losses but this team needs to go through some adversity in terms of in game stuff. Overall we haven't really been challenged at all. We have a talented roster but my worry is are we just talented enough that we are beating the teams we should do to a softer schedule or are we really for real? I got a feeling special teams come back and bite us at some point. We've been super fortunate on the injury front where so many of the big teams haven't and lost key players or just have an aging roster AKA TB.

We have a few things on our side that usually help. Cohesiveness and no one seems to think they are above the team. I think having Sirianni as a young Coach helps and he can relate to these guys better then anyone. Chauncey Gardner Johnson talked about this aspect on his post interview on CBS on Sunday. They got a very talented defense who has 2 of the best playmakers at either side, one of the top 5 IMHO slot Corners in Avanto Maddox and a starting playmaking Top S in CJGJ. The Defensive front is staked and losing Jordan Davis for the time is gonna suck. I don't think we've played anyone great QB wise this year but the potential for this defense is there to be elite. Special teams has been less then stellar and I don't think this teams really values the return specialist that much.

Offensively we got a top 5 TE and maybe 2 of the best WR combos of X/Y I'd put up against anyone else in the league. AJ Brown is a man amongst boys out there. They have an elite Offensive Line with a ton of depth with at least 3 back ups who could start on any other team in this league and a coach coaching em up everyone else is jealous we have. Our run game has been. Good. Our QB. He's done some good things but I want better. There was quite a few throws he was late on early in the game and the decision on the deep Middle of the field TD to Brown was a good decision but it was a lame duck the defenders should've batted down or deflected. Hurts has shown improvement in a few areas but I still think he lacks in other areas he needs to be good at. Sirianni has done well playing to the strengths of everyone in the offense. He isn't forcing square pegs in round holes here but putting guys in position to succeed. This not only is great for the players on the team but anyone recruited offensively in FA or comes here via draft, trade etc. When you see theres coaches putting guys in position to succeed players love that. Sirianni is also incredible personable with all his guys which bodes well for the coach player dynamic.

I don't think this is SB or bust either. I want at least a playoff win however like they say no one gives a dam about a record like ours if we don't win the SB either. Taking this from what we Union supporters have said all season even though I think our expectations were much different from the Eagles. No one is gonna remember us for putting up a TD on a bunch of teams on the pitch this year or the fact we broke the Goal differential for a regular season in MLS or the fact we were the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and got to MLS Cup if we don't win it. Point is we really weren't expected to be title contenders in the NFL this year but no one is gonna give a rats *** about "what we did this year" if we are 1 and done in the playoffs. Fans and critics will say what they've done all year, took advantage of weak schedule, didn't play anyone great, Hurts is a fraud. Hurts is another Lamar Jackson, Eagles won't do good next year, Eagles peaked too early, etc. Then you'll have the hoagie breathers on the sports talk calling for Howie and Nicks heads. Ok maybe I lied there because they'd probably blame Jonathan Gannon before anyone else since he's the flavor of the day for blame since most of these clowns love Old Dinosaur Seth Joyner.

Point is this season won't mean a dam if we get dumped in the playoffs first game we play. Lets at least get to the playoffs though and go from there but not winning at least 1 playoff game will be unacceptable this year still I believe. Our success overall hasn't changed my expectations for this team yet in the slightest. Years ago younger Djax would've said "oh we're the team to beat SB or bust" in a Jimmy Rollins type way but I set myself up for disappointment and didn't understand the game like I do now.

You are the Philly equivalent to MoP in the Miami threads, I find everything wrong with the team and print it, use historical stories from yesteryear teams in the 70s, 80s, 90s, it's fun.
We're good at it, takes one to know one.
But I still find myself getting caught up in Super Bowl talk and we haven't even won a single Playoff game with Tua under Center
Let's give both Philly and Miami some credit for making 2022 a year where we are even discussing all of this, it's OK to allow ourselves a chance to just enjoy this feeling.

Not saying I haven't enjoyed it I'm just not getting suckered into the Jalen Hurts we're great hype. Been there before with QBs. I've watched Hurts since his Freshman year and he's done this before. Looked great for a big chunk of time then when you thought he had it he throws a bunch of clunkers up or chokes in the big moment.

Eagles are the only team to beat MINN but Minn has had a very soft schedule facing a bad NFC North, A GB team not close to what they've been for yrs under Favre or even Rodgers and beat Your Dolphins and beat a very inconsistent Cardinals team who P2 just mocked their Qb for playing too many Video games after Picking him off.

I haven't watched enough Minny games but do know if we play Minny Again they probably get smoked. Vikings are known for choking in the big moments and this Vikings team remind me a bit of the team we faced in the NFCC in route to the SB.

Also I'm still in the just give me one playoff win and I'm fine this year nothing has changed. Eagles got into the trap of winning a SB and everyone thought we were fine but had so many holes still to fix we didn't and led us to where we were. after the fact.

Also I'd trade Hurts for Tua straight up right now if you were to offer it too me. I love that guys arm talent. Hurts is a great person and teammate so is Tua who's been slightly more snakebitten by the injury bug. However I'm taking that arm talent anyway. Was so impressive in college.

I meant more or less we grew into the "we won a SB we don't have many problem to fix." trap. We got a lucky with a lot of stuff we did that year got rid of a lot of deadweight but still had a lot of holes despite winning we should've kept fixing and ran it back with a lot of old players we should've said thanks for helping us but you are no longer needed. thankfully we had a first round bye because a couple of people in the know told me we'd have been screwed. Reich and DeFelippo took the whole week with Foles and went back and watched what made him good when he was here. Thats when the RPO's a lot of them were finally implemented more into the Eagles Offense. Fortunately that helped get Foles comfortable. He fortunately got hot at the right time and it worked out in the end. However the team had massive holes they still had to fill after that year but either disregarded them or band aid them

Teams scheme to take away your best weapons every week. Hurts passed for 285 & 4 TDs in 3.5 quarters with only 10 yds rushing this week. The Eagles have beaten teams both through the air and on the ground this year.

Hurts has passing games with 333/1, 340/3, and 285/4 and rushing games with 90/1, 57/2, 61/2, 38/2. He's won both ways.

Not the same in the playoffs. They do scheme but they go against the grain a lot more in the playoffs and take away a teams best weapon. Its why Lamar has so much trouble in the post season. Granted I would say Hurts is a more of an advanced passer but thats not saying much with Lamar Jackson. We saw last year in the playoffs how one dimensional our offense was when they took away the run. We really haven't had a game where either of our Pass or run was really not working yet.

So what do you take away, the Eagles running game or their passing game?

take away the run game blitz Hurts Constantly bringing extra guys make him a pocket passer and take away the first read. Hurts struggles when he doesn't get his first read. It's been the book on him since day 1 of college and worked well in college. You also Zone blitz him which is what he's had issues with and what happened in his first game in ARZ rookie year and last year 2 games vs TB.. Hope your guys are discipline enough to keep contain. Rather have a QB more known for his running ability try and beat me with his arm then his legs. Essentially it's what teams have done with Lamar in the playoffs. Take away his run game and force him into being pocket passes. A few games in one season for Hurts doesn't change the narrative yet. Need consecutive seasons from him passing well consistently in the pocket progressing through all his reads. Play the Eagles Wideouts up at the line bump and run and leave the safety back. Cover the sidelines and force Hurts to throw in the middle of the field which he doesn't do much of.

Offensively you play ball control unless your team has a QB who can win through the air. Try and force the Eagles into a shootout because I don't think Hurts is a consistent enough passer yet to even keep up in one if they had to abandon the run.

Wait, is it a ball control offense that beats them? Or a shootout? Those are very different things.

I think they can be beaten in a shootout but if you don't have that type of QB ball control offense. Keep the defense on as long as possible

Got to remember some of these guys are 76ers fans who get upset when people aren't stroking the 76ers ego so you know why they act like that. I'm also not saying anything new. I don't think the media has been that hard on the Eagles either. I think this year not thinking they are legit isn't too bad. Shouldn't be too personal. I've had him on ignore for awhile. The other day he legit tried to accuse me of some pretty terrible things of not liking guys of a certain color in here. He's been trolling for 2 yrs here now. I think someone here also put him on ignore. It is funny watching him talk to himself though.

The Eagles have beaten the next 2 and haven't played the Giants yet. Hard to say they haven't beaten any good teams. The Cowboys lost to the 3-5 Bucs, and looked bad doing it, with Dak at QB. But I keep hearing how great the Cowboys are - just listen to the national media.

I think people thought TB would be better then they are now. Arians retiring and the Brady diva crap has really gotten to the team. A few injuries as well. I remember awhile back when Jimmy G was in NE Colin Cowherd was talking on his show about Brady. Mind you I was at work half listening but this was when the reports were coming out how Brady cried to Kraft about Jimmy G still there, how Brady had his personal trainer in the locker room trying to get everyone to do Brady's workouts etc etc. A lot of players apparently were annoyed but over the yrs players in NE put up with the ******** by Brady because they were winning. He won in TB as well so ok things are looking good. Well now the team is struggling and you got Brady publicly calling out teammates to be more accountable but not taking any himself. He left for most of camp to do filming for something and went to the islands. 2 weeks ago he apparently took a day off for something and that Friday took his private jet to a wedding came back late Saturday for the game Sunday. So I think people are seeing finally what a diva Tom really is and it's effecting the team just as much as the other stuff.

As for DAL they got a nice roster their best win might be Cincy who's inconsistent and Cincy still had a chance to win that game. Also if Dal defense is so great how are you allowing both Hurts/Justin Fields put almost 3O pts on you.

We're getting steamrolled whoever we face plus I don't think it's really a guarantee we make the SB. I've seen this song and dance with QB's similar to Hurts from Lamar Jackson and others. Look great in regular season unstoppable but then playoffs come around and teams scheme to stop that one threat.

I honestly mainly want to win the SB just to hear if you're actually happy or not but I'm sure there will be "we'll see if he can win two"'

I read a stat that going back to 1990, 50% of the time the NFL team with the best regular season record won it all. In the NBA, it's 74% and in MLB it's 18%. I may need to confirm because those numbers just seem way too high.

Hmmm that's super interesting. I would think baseball would be a higher percentage since way less teams make the playoffs?

Would like to see those numbers if you can dig them up!

I'll find them. The stat was posted on another message board that I frequent but I'll see if I can get a source. For basketball it makes sense because it's such a star driven league. Good point about baseball but I kind of get it since baseball playoffs seems like such a crapshoot. I'm really surprised by that football percentage (if it's true lol).

Imo, the 49ers are now the fave to represent the nfc in the SB, but the season is only half over. Whoever the fave is now means nothing

Tonight's game menu should call for a ton of runs. HOU is allowing a crap ton of rushing yds and King Henry put up TWO HUNDREDED on his own on Sunday. Coming into this short week after dealing with a bruiser like DH is a recipe for good success for the Eagles. They should also feast on the HOU passing game tonight. My only concern is how much of the run defense is effected without Jordan Davis. No excuse we shouldn't win this going away and resting starters in the 4th QTR again.

Makes total sense to me. Randomness plays a much bigger part in baseball playoffs than the others. How many times were the braves the best regular season team and lost in the playoffs. Mariners 116 win season, on and on and on
