2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (2 Viewers)

Fantasy nightmare. Not sure how I can start him even if he starts. They will pull him quick and honestly I bet he doesn't even play
If he can't go, I'm looking at starting Pickett over Mills. Yuck.

This is why if you take a Hurts or Lamar in Fantasy you handcuff them with another viable good starter. I had Rodgers for yrs in keeper and because of his playing style and then injury history coming up I started to find a good back up. For yrs I went with Phillip Rivers. I knew he could at least get me my league's avg pts and everyone once in awhile could go off. It was either him and I managed to have Big Ben for a few yrs too but he was risky as well at points

Eagles will be fine for a week or two with Minshew if they need to. The idea of sitting Jalen all the way till the playoffss is a bit much though. Would wanna see at least a couple of series in the season finale to keep some timing

Yeah You want to see if he can go. You don't want to get into a playoff game and realize "oh **** he really shouldn't be out here and have timing messed up." Thats why I'm not a fan of winning this week and then resting everyone till playoffs. You can Kill timing. Its like clinching the playoffs and then telling your 1 and 2 starters ok take the rest of the 3 weeks off and pitch them game 1 and 2.

How serious could it be if he did it in the third and finished the game?

It depends. I could tell right away he was hurt but I don't know if the medical staff knew or not. If they didn't Hurts may have tried to continue playing with it in fear they'd take him out of the game. A shoulder strain isn't something to mess with. Putting off the injury can lead to worse injury too. So it's better to just bench him the next 2 games and hope he's fine We need 1 win. This also is good live reps in a game for Minshew in case he's needed in the playoffs.

and threw that 60 yard bomb to AJ after the apparent injury. will be a sour xmas eve if the Eagles lose to the Cowboys
6/9, 102 yards (long of 68); 6 rushing attempts, 9 yards, 1 TD with the injury.
Trust me, I really want to have him in the semifinals ... I feel the same way, irritated if he is out next week with an injury that he performed well with. But for the Eagles it's 100% about the risk of aggravating the injury, not whether he can perform or not. I'm not expecting him to play.

Hopefully Jalen is just sore and they are being very cautious. It's the non throwing shoulder at least. Sucks for this week and he won't be MVP but that's probably good. No MVP has won the super bowl since 1999. Eyes on the prize.

I thought someone said it was the left shoulder.

Nevermind I see the replay now. Missed it live cause I was in the car. Idiots on 97.5 afternoon drive show said non throwing shoulder. They might be the worst sports radio show I can remember in this town.

Never even winced during the game. Seems like BS

He actually did that play when he got up and he took a few extra seconds on another hit and got up slowly on the one huge hit in the 4th qtr. Have to be careful with these strains as they can be worse if not treated. My guess is either team didn't realize he was injured and he did didn't tell anyone wasn't that bad till adrenaline wore off after game. Probably didn't tell anyone as he feared being taken out of game. My guess if this injury happened in the 1st half I doubt he'd have played in the 2nd half of the game.

My first reaction is "probably not much" but then I remember McNabb played most of a game on a broken fibula.

Sirianni on the radio today did not rule Hurts out for this weekend. Said he has a shoulder strain and the injury isn't something they consider serious. Said he's in PT right now and they'll see how he progresses during the week.

That is good to hear, but I wonder if it’s a little hit of gamesmanship. He always plays injuries close to the vest.

Seriously. Got a playoff game to win and I'm starting Brady now instead of Jalen.

I heard they already started on the Minshew statue.

That's my way of saying that I don't think we'll see Hurts again until after their bye week.

This is great honestly. All I have heard all year "Yeah well you beat ARE BAKUP"

Edit - not good b/c of injury, just fun to trash talk. These guys are basically begging to make this game "hype" now

Can't wait to own both narratives.

Minshew is one of the best backups in the league. And Eagles have zero pressure...only need ONE of these last three.

Then there's that thing you hear all the time about how hard it is to beat the same team 3X in one season. In the end I'd like to beat them this weekend, but in the end what I want more is for no key players to get hurt, and for Hurts to get back to 100% before the playoffs. Would almost rather they lose now.

Minshew is attending Mike Leach's funeral today and not at the scheduled walk-thru. Short week with Friday a travel day, so if Minshew does play, it will be with only 2 days of prep.

FWIW, Sirianni and Hurts in their press conferences today were calling it a "day-to-day" thing and not ruling him out playing Saturday until they see how he heals and responds to treatment this week.

I just want no one to get hurt. Sucks we can't actually mail it in though and we do have to play a bunch of our starters. Maybe they can be smart about the rotations though.

Here's the best case scenario. Minshew starts Saturday and the Eagles win. Pundits come out of the woodworks and point to how Hurts must be just a game manager since Eagles are so good at every position he isn't the reason we're winning. All the talk about BDN Superbowl run for a couple of weeks, a mini-QB "controversy" ensues because, you know, it's Philly media. This fires up Hurts for the playoffs, goes on a massive run, and wins the Superbowl on his back and then signs a billion dollar extension. Boom.

It's too bad if Hurts can go Saturday, but still looking forward to a great game.

man i bet minshew would love to play to honor his old coach.

If he feels like he can play, you play him. I could totally see some nightmare scenario where Dallas beats us, making the Sain'ts game have added pressure. Minshew shrinks in the moment and doesn't play well against a saints team that still has a lot to play for and sets up a MUST win game against a divisional rival playing for a playoff spot in week 18. Then you HAVE to play Jalen and god forbid you **** the bed you are now the 5 seed. **** that.

If Jalen can go we win in Dallas, IMO. Lock up #1 and then I don't care if you want to bench the whole team for three weeks. Just lock it up first.

Exactly. Even if Dallas’s chance is 1% or less you don’t mess around until everything is clinched IMO. Also, aren’t there still other teams in the mix for the bye? I believe San Fran can technically still get it. Obviously if he’s even remotely hurt, you sit him.

And, I’m pretty sure that last season before the NYJ game Hurts went even a step further and said he was going to play. But he didn’t, and Minshew did, so I’d say its 96% Hurts sits.

Shoulder strains can get worse if not treated right. With the game on Saturday I see them holding him out. Eagles won't rule him out and give the cowboys an advantage to try and game plain for one QB. They have to right now game plan for either Hurts or Minshew 2 totally different styles. I'd be shocked if he plays. If he does it better be more handoffs to RBs and not trying to run him as much.

If they have any designed QB runs for Hurts before the playoffs, the coaches should be fired for criminal negligence.
