2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (6 Viewers)

We threw a big party at the house, lots of food and drinks, multiple tvs set up and projector on the side of the house with a big bonfire. Fireworks galore after the game. Repeating everything including menu and viewing options. Superstitious? No, but maybe a little-stitious.

I do think the Eagles should go for a backup QB in the offseason that runs a similar style of offense to Hurts. Would be nice if (when?) he misses time to not have everyone change the scheme dramatically.
Probably need to draft one. Hendon Hooker might be decent and with the injury, his draft stock is probably more 3rd-4th round. I don't know if he'll ever be starter material again but as a guy with a great skill set, he'd be worth having sit and learn behind Jalen as the 3rd string. Would need to get another vet for next year though as the 2.

No thank you saw enough of him in college. He's also raising up drat boards

Kind of glad I didn't go to this send off thing. They showed about ten mins at Ten PM of this thing. Wasn't anything special. Introduce some members of the team with Nick, Howie and Don by Spuds. Nick Spoke for like a minute and then it was all over.

For those who know this Is pretty special for me. Send thing kid to the SB to help with Autism awareness and have a nice sensory space so people like Max and I can go and still enjoy the game with our families. Personally I'm not on the scale where I need this for sport or concert etc. I've been planning on doing the run or walk for yrs and maybe send my info and help out where I can.

Eagles sending Max Herschman and Eagles Autism Foundation to SB to help out and raise awareness

yep, Tyrod Taylor would be a cheap, serviceable option.

under contract and seems like he's always hurt anymore.
I mean for a backup with upside, it's not a bad pick. The ACL injury should lower his stock. If you get him in the 4th or 5th, that's pretty good.

Since I'm tracking it, sharing some SB ticket info for those interested:
  • The "Get In Price" (least expensive ticket) has been holding steady at ~$5,800 since Monday.
  • The least expensive lower-level ticket has been steady, too, at ~$7k.
  • The overall average ticket price is down today from yesterday (~$9,600 to ~$9,450).
  • The most expensive single-ticket (~$35,000) is down from ~$41,000 yesterday.
  • For sale inventory is up from ~2,500 tickets available to ~2,600 since yesterday.
I'm monitoring TickPick, TicketIQ, On Location (NFL partner), and a local broker, and using the all-in prices (including fees.)
Get-in price is down to $5,400 today and inventory is up to ~2,800, two things that point to this being the "best time to buy" window now opening. But, how long that lasts will remain to be seen. The 6-8 days before the game has been that window the last 5 or so years, and we're at 7 days now.

How the buyer market reacts today and tomorrow will dictate how the rest of this will go. If inventory stays steady, even with the get-in price dropping, that will mean there's still not enough demand at the current prices. The "we're going no matter what the cost" folks are already set with their tickets and the "it needs to be cheaper before I'll consider it" people are still sitting it out, which will mean prices go even lower. But, if those waiting get nervous and decide to buy now, the low priced tickets will go, the inventory will drop, and prices will go back up.

If I had to predict it, I think the price will keep going down for a few more days as demand (even at the current $5,400 get-in) seems to not be as high as expected. Whether that's because of the prices (not just the ticket, but also the cost to travel, which for Philly fans is a long way with flying really the only option, many road tripped to MIN straight through in 15 hours, but PHX is more than double that) or the fact that both teams have been to the SB recently (and won), I'm not sure. But there's three things that I think are at play:

  1. Demand for KC AFC Championship game tickets was weak this year, by itself and especially compared to the Eagles NFC Championship game. Get-in was ~$200 by game time in KC, but about 4x that in Philly. And inventory was way higher for KC, as well. That points to a little bit of "been there, done that" (5th straight year KC hosted the AFC title game) from the fanbase that might carryover to the SB (3rd appearance in 4 years.)
  2. 70% of the "cheapest 10 pairs of tickets" at each of the 4 sites I am tracking did not sell in the last 24 hours. Maybe there's more movement on the better seats, but I think there's something to be taken from the fact that the get-in tickets aren't moving as quickly as you would expect a week out. It could be because there are a lot of buyers willing to play the waiting game, but I'm leaning toward it being the overall demand is not what was expected. At least not yet; there could still be a big run on buying coming, but I'm not convinced.
  3. This is purely anecdotal, but I have user accounts with TickPick, TicketIQ and NFL On Location and I put items in my cart for each and went all the way through checkout (including payment info entry) and stopped at "Complete Order", to see what would happen. This is a good tactic to use on big purchases because most web sites monitor for this and send chase emails with offers like discount codes to get you to complete the purchase. 2 of the 3 reached out pretty quickly, one automated "reminder" to finish buying and the other an email from a sales rep with their mobile number to call with any questions and an offer to look for "discounts and availability" not advertised on the site. This is a high-profile and high-ticket event with a limited timeframe so it's not surprising they want to get people to purchase (or even offer one-on-one support), but if there's also wiggle room or incentives being offered, that could mean there's concern with how sales are trending.

Saw this from an article by Roob:

“There are 66 offensive linemen who’ve played at least 50 snaps this postseason. In Pro Football Focus’s postseason ranking of those 66 guys, Jordan Mailata is No. 1, Landon Dickerson No. 2, Lane Johnson No. 5 and Jason Kelce No. 8.”

Maulers.

From the same article: Eagles have never had an INT in the Super Bowl. Feels like we are due, CJGJ...

And for anyone wondering, the best overall "deal" (purely from a value/bang-for-your-buck perspective) for someone looking to go from Philly: NFL On Location has a package for $9,400 (all-in) that includes lower-level ticket, same-day non-stop private charter flight (early Sunday morning, come back late Sunday night), round-trip transportation charter bus to and from the game, pre-game all-inclusive food and drink party, NFL personality meet-and-greet, and SB 57 gift/swag bag. The price on that has fluctuated, like the tickets, from a high of $10,500 earlier in the week, and if it drops another $1k as they try to fill the plane to capacity before seats go unused, I will be very tempted to jump on it.

Damn that's cool... but not even an overnight? Do they just whisk you away to the airport right after the game?

Yep, allows some time for basking (or wallowing!) after the game ends and if the game goes long or into OT, they just hold the plane since it's not a commercial flight. I'm in NO this week and not back until late Friday so doing a same day trip would work better for me, anyway.

The ticket-only prices from NFL On Location tack on 18% in fees so it's not the place to go for just tickets. But this package particularly is the only one that seems to be priced to include a ticket at the listed price, without fees. Lower Level corner/endzone is ~$6,400 on their site ($7,800 with fees), and their charter-only package (most of the others things, but you get your own ticket) is $2,500. So just looking for value on the margins or pricing inefficiencies for the Super Bowl, that's the best deal out there and if it comes down another $1k it's a steal (relative to the market.)

We threw a big party at the house, lots of food and drinks, multiple tvs set up and projector on the side of the house with a big bonfire. Fireworks galore after the game. Repeating everything including menu and viewing options. Superstitious? No, but maybe a little-stitious.
that sounds pretty sweet. we had a big get together last one as well, then walked down the hill to main street Manayunk and just had a hell of a celebration with the streets packed. bought a round of shots for everyone packed in to Castle Rock cause i made good cash betting the eagles last game. hoping it happens again

You're in Manayunk? Dude, I lived there from 1997 to 2015. Ever go to Dawson Street Pub?

Ha. My first wife lived a few doors down from there when I met her (that was in 1994).

I spent many eagles games at Hogans back in the day. Always got a kick out of the birds nest guys. I bartended at Dawsons for about ten years

Same day meaning the Sunday of the game?

The last 9 AP NFL MVPs to play in Super Bowl that same season are 0-9.

So are people hoping Hurts wins the MVP or no?

Also I don't think the Heisman Trophy winner has had good success in the title game either the same year they've won it. I They do have a few wins though recently but I remember for awhile commentators talking about the Heisman curse. I believe both years Florida won the title game OSU year their QB I think Troy Smith and then when they won the next one Sam Bradford had won the award. I think a few have won both I know Winston did it the same year can't remember who else other then our very own Devonta Smith 3 yrs ago.

He def won't win it. He maybe had a shot at it, if he hadn't gotten hurt. But it's Mahomes by a long shot.

MVP of the SuperBowl is likely, if the Eagles win. Almost always the QB, right? or an Offensive skill player.

Theres always pre draft hype. Then QBs start falling when it gets past the first.

Almost but there is a pretty nice odds on Reddick and Sanders at +3000. Either one of them go off. And they could net a nice pay day.

Almost but there is a pretty nice odds on Reddick and Sanders at +3000. Either one of them go off. And they could net a nice pay day.
I like that bet, especially for Reddick, the way he has been playing thru the playoffs.

The last 9 AP NFL MVPs to play in Super Bowl that same season are 0-9.

So are people hoping Hurts wins the MVP or no?

Also I don't think the Heisman Trophy winner has had good success in the title game either the same year they've won it. Happy Monday before your team plays in the Super Bowl, fellow Eagles fans!! Should be a fun week, hopefully some entertaining interviews sprinkled in. Would love an "Alshon Interview" but I feel the team is gonna be super business/coach speak this week. Except maybe for a few of the old head vets like Lane and Jason.

Ya Mahomes is the heavy favourite, followed by Burrow, then Allen, then Hurts. I think Hurts would have had it if he played those two games (also our record would have been crazy), but Mahomes is for sure deserving this year.

I'll take MVP of the Super Bowl. All day, every day. Twice on Sunday.

Ya, all the league MVP does is probably make us pay him more haha

This is my vacation week, and will be in Raleigh for a convention. My favorite week of the year, and I'm absolutely torn about Sunday. I can leave a couple hours early Sunday to be home in time for kickoff, I can listen on Satellite radio on my drive home, or I can play music on my phone driving home and watch the game on delay.

All three options have drawbacks. Will have to steer clear of all internet/phone if I watch on delay, and I'm not confidant that's safe as an option
I don't know how people can watch games on delay. If it's happening, I need to know what's going on if it's even just checking the score on my phone. I just can't sit and watch a game like it's live when I know it's over and decided.

Speaking of Raleigh, I'll be down there next weekend (2/3-2/5) for a college visit to NC State for my son on Friday and the Krispy Kreme Challenge for the whole family on Saturday. Any suggestions for places to eat (other than doughnuts) or things to check out while we're there?
I don't know a lot, but this is a really cool place imo: https://brewerybhavana.com/
Thanks! We went there for dinner on Saturday and it was great.

Usually an offensive skill player unless it's a low scoring game and some defender goes off.

I do think the Eagles should go for a backup QB in the offseason that runs a similar style of offense to Hurts. Would be nice if (when?) he misses time to not have everyone change the scheme dramatically.
yep, Tyrod Taylor would be a cheap, serviceable option.

under contract and seems like he's always hurt anymore.
I mean for a backup with upside, it's not a bad pick. The ACL injury should lower his stock. If you get him in the 4th or 5th, that's pretty good.

I'm already seeing draft reports he might be climbing hooker and might not be on the board past the 3rd round.
Theres always pre draft hype. Then QBs start falling when it gets past the first.

Most QBs go earlier then they really should though. Teams are desperate to get that guy who can be their franchise guy.

Thank god we didn't trade for Russel Wilson. I had heard something awhile back which made me glad but I waited until someone could confirm this. @STEADYMOBBIN 22 I believe you were the one who said Wilson rubbed you the wrong way for some reason?

So here's the background. There were issues between Pete Carrol and the SEA Coaching staff with Wilson who Tom Brady'd them and brought in his own person coaches from QB Coach, fitness guy etc. One of the reasons he was traded was Carrol and Company told him he had to get rid of his staff from the team facility which he wouldn't do. He had them in Denver and essentially undermined coach Hackett. one of Sports Illustrated NFL guys wrote an article a few weeks back then Den needed to get a coach who wouldn't tolerate Wilson's antics. Today during his introduction when Sean Payton was asked about it he said "that nonsense won't fly with me."

Talked to a few insiders today after the fact. 2 people even said they'd put it at a 5O% chance that Wilson is Denver's QB or on the roster come Sept based on how Payton runs a tight ship on stuff like this and if Russ doesn't fall in line quick he's gone. Most however think he's here come September and if there's still issues towards the end of the year depending what Denver does for Backup or possible draft a guy Russ maybe benched and traded or released at the end of the season. Sounds like we dodged another bullet with this guy.

Wilson's performance this past year lost him a lot of the clout he might have had. If the team was losing despite him doing well, then sure. But his play was lacking...he's not going to get any traction trying to get into a fight with Sean Payton.

I blame Russ’s wife for all of it.

Eagles CEO Jeff Lurie told Sal Paolantonio Jalen Hurts has “nothing to prove” to be viewed as the long-term answer at QB.
Asked if contract extension negotiations are in the future, Lurie said: “He’s just what we’re looking for.”

Read that. Shocked that they trust him to be a true franchise QB before he wins 5 Superbowls and breaks all of Brady's records.

Lots of Chiefs fans at the Open Ceremonies last night. This game might feel like an away game for us from a crowd noise perspective.
damn, are you there!?

That's interesting though, I thought someone had mentioned that a higher percentage of people were buying tickets from PA.

Exactly I was laughed at for yrs especially on the old Phillies board by this guy who absolutely loved Wilson. I said wait and see when the team loses all their good players. Russ is a system guy. People acted like he was great in the SB but the game was out of reach by the 3rd QTR when he threw his first TD pass against DEN. Then instead of audible to hand to Lynch he threw it at the goal line I never thought Russ was great. Hell for yrs offensive players who played there did better after they left which was pretty glaring endorsement to me of the QB. I wonder what this guy would think of Russ now?

He won't have any clout with Payton at all. So he's probably going have to suck it up or find a new team

I would think any Owner would say this. You'd be stupid to say anything less. You don't want to throw your QB under the bus in the most important game of his career even so. You aren't getting anything then business response on that from Lurie.

KC is closer to ARZ. I think a lot of KC people have vacation homes in ARZ especially the baseball fans with Spring Training there. Most Eagles fans will be there later in the week and from what @The Noid has said most tickets are being sold in our region for the game.

He's gonna get a big extension this offseason. Come to terms with it before you have an aneurysm when they announce it.

Deservedly getting a big extension!
