anyone going this year? Events start tomorrow.

New venue: Bally's/Parris Convention rooms.  Pics on twitter look great!   Much larger space, many more food options.  Record 1000 dealers hired. It's on the strip!

I'll be there June 12-17. Playing 1500 HORSE
Be back July 4-17. Playing 1000 NL Bounty with a $1MIL Bounty!  1500 RAZZ, 3000 HORSE.

Playing mixed events on every off day while there.

Cashed in 5 of 9 WSOP events last year and won an 180-person event at Orleans.

@IC FBGCav free room if you can make it out...

My dad will be out there playing a few events, looks like it may overlap your June dates for a couple days. I'm in Phoenix for a basketball tournament until the 19th, if I'm able to arrange for one of the other families to bring my son home, I'm hoping to drive over to Vegas to see him for a couple days and would probably jump in on some of the smaller tourneys as I have not played any poker in well over a year, and nothing serious in at least 3-4 years so very rusty.

Best of luck!

Googling what bounty poker is, that looks like a blast.

What is the structure for each bounty, and the 1 mil is for winning/final bounty? Just curious.

Thanks.

Bounty events are becoming quite popular.  I think the Wynn ran 2 or 3 last year that went very well.

Basically in these,  starting on Day 2, there is a bounty on every single player knocked out of the event.  For this wsop event,  I've heard that the minimum bounty will be $1000.  And there will be one worth a mil.  All of the different amounts are placed in envelopes and placed in a huge drum.  When you get knocked out, you go over to the drum and pull out the number of envelope bounty rickets you won.

I've seen this part of it live streamed on a few events and it gets pretty wild one someone pulls the golden ticket.

This wsop event starts July 2 and there are I think two starting flights watch day for three days.   You can enter each flight if you get knocked out.  I'm going to enter the very last starting flight at 7pm on July 4.

Bay 101 in San Jose runs the "Shooting Star" tournament where they place a bounty on 50 of the poker "celebrities" in the field. Makes for an interesting dynamic as only certain players have bounties on them as opposed to every player.

Here's the structure sheet for the Bounty event:  There is only one starting flight Day July 2 and 3.  Two on July 4.
https://www.wsop.com/pdfs/structuresheets/structure_4943_20368.pdf

Level Duration:
Days 1A-1C = 30 minutes
Day 1D = 15 minutes
Days 2-3 = 40 minutes
Late Registration:
Flights A-C = 12 levels (≈ 7:55 p.m.) Looks like I might go for 1C now. Flight lands at 2:05pm.  1D has 15 minute levels.  That will be nuts.
Flight D = 12 levels (≈ 10:30 p.m.)

12:00 noon start
Play 22 levels 20-min breaks every 4 levels

Day 1 – Flight D (July 4 - turbo flight)
7:00 p.m. start
Play 22 levels 15-min breaks after levels 8, 12, and 19.

Day 3 – Wednesday, July 6
Restart TBD
Play down to a winner

One of these years - probably once my kids are out of the house, so maybe a good decade or so from now - I will make it out to this.

:lmao: .  In the $500 event with $5mil guarantee on Day 1A.....

"Apparently at table 495 the dealer thought the "color up" meant to bring in ALL the player's chips at the table on break and rackemup. Therefore the 1 hour delay."

So the dealer took all nine stacks and stacked them by color.  :lmao: . Another tweet said the newbie was fired.

WSOP announcer Norman Chad, is in 10th, with 14 left in Event #4: Dealers Choice 6-Handed, starting Day 3 right now

ETA: He finished 13th

A home game buddy of mine is going for 10 days.  He says the tournaments are great and all, but he makes the majority of his money playing the cash games while everyone's there.  I soooo want to go with a couple grand and just milk folks for money.  :D

Good luck, @Getzlaf15!

31st in Razz last year  :hifive:

I did a ton of prep for Razz last year. Really paid off. So many hate this game and I love it.

loooooooooooooove Razz, have literally never lost money playing it in cash games, but then i've only played it in 1-3 games in Reno casinos and in an annual private game  hosted by the owner of the El Capitan in Hawthorne NV for other podunk-town casino owners (Ely, Elko, Tonopah, Wendover, Mesquite, etc) and poker celebs like Tree Straus & Bobby Stupak. tried HORSE a few times but, no matter how often Razz was called, that doesnt seem to make temple veins throb like Razz-only does. we had a saying backinaday, "you see a guy talking to himself on the street, he's either homeless or a Razz player.....sometimes both".

My first WSOP cash was in HORSE, 2008. I was triple bricking so many great RAZZ hands, that I tilted for the first time ever. Got so bad, I put my hoodie over my head and refused to play the game one entire round. Just auto mucked w/o looking at my cards.

Have a GB there now. He played $250 HORSE at Bally's yesterday. He hates RAZZ.  In the span of 5 minutes, he text me.... ####### hate RAZZ have 6432A and lose, played 6 hands then lost with 7543A, and then on last hand that RAZZ round, I just lost another with 65.

I text him back, "If you love RAZZ, it will love you back."  He was furious. LOL.  Said he was auto folding any A23 the rest of the way.

Now I have to find a way to love 7-card stud. I rarely draw well at this game. And when I get trips, someone straights or flushes.

cant play high stud to save my life. honestly believe that, like many pros say about what theyre best at, the cards dont matter to me in Razz. Tree used to say, "dunno why people spend so much time learning how to win (the game was just being overrun by the young stats guys, Sklanskyites, then), when it's so much easier to help everybody else lose". i grokked that somewhat in pot-limits, but i understood it like it was Gospel and i was the Lord in Razz.

I will play in some events at some point.  Every year it seems I am booked solid around this time.

Good luck boys!  Bring home some bracelets!!

Same. I would love to get out there but I’m just so damn busy every summer.

I would love to go play, but I have little confidence in my poker skills.  I'll just stick to my home games and live vicariously through all of you.  Good luck to all going.

@Getzlaf15  a couple questions for you: how are you liking the new location for the tournament so far?  Secondly—-how are the crowds looking like in the city right now?  I’m coming out to Vegas this upcoming Thursday for a quick couple day business trip and just wanted to have an idea of what to expect traffic-wise on the strip.

Hey, landed at 2pm and went right to South Pointe and played $240 ROSE.  Finished 23/98.  It paid 15.

Just got to my room at Bally's.  Will check out WSOP area tomorrow. All accounts on twitter is that it's much nicer, larger, with more tables and food options.  Playing $600 Monday at Orleans at 2PM. WSOP Horse on Wednesday.

I would expect things to be quite busy on the strip.

Barring something coming up I'll be out there Sunday evening, get to see my dad for Father's Day for the first time in probably at least 15 years. May just play in some of the smaller ancillary tournaments or cash games as I am beyond rusty, and as I plan to drive home on Tuesday - but Event #43 - the $500 NL Hold Em event looks tempting and if by some miracle I run good and make day two, I can just stay for an extra day.

Another deep run in Orleans 600 horse yesterday to be trashed by getting only one playable hand in the last 2.5 hours.  That was the last 6 levels.  Like 58 of 177.  Kinda of frustrating,  but not much you can do.

Wsop 1k PLO.  In 35 minutes.

My buddy won a bracelet and like $28K for winning Michigan online WSOP tournament.  Norm Chad came and interviewed him and guess he will get to play in the tournament of champions

Running very well to start events and then very bad to end lol.

Yesterday, was in top 10 after 8 levels of horse  playing razz.   Showing 7 5 4 2 up.   Guy chases me down with 8 9 J 7 up in that order.

I hadn't showed a losing razz hand in 8 levels.   I had 4 2 down to start.  9 river and he hits his 8 7 draw on the river.  Such a bad play that got rewarded.

Firing last bullet for this trip in 30.   Stud 8 hi lo.

Mr. krista had four friends make the second day in HORSE, three of whom are still left (Brandon, whom we've discussed before, now busted).  I have a small piece of the cash game AND tournament action for another friend we've talked about, rhymes with Schmeve Talbeany.  He made us a little in cash games already and is sitting at 30th right now in HORSE.  Another of the friend group is in 17th.

Glllllll in the Stud game!

Yes, just Albini.  He sold 50% of his tourney along with his bankroll for cash games, and I have a small piece of all that.  He's currently sitting at 10th with 22 players left in his first event, HORSE (event #32).    Last year I had a stake in Brandon Shack-Harris, but didn't buy in on him this year.

So like all the previous events, started out hot and ran 25k start to 55k after two levels.

And then just ran so bad again and busted level 8.  Not even card dead as usual.

Lost with....

Kkk

Had numerous four card flush draws, most with 3 low cards and bricked all but one, and I even lost that one lol

After missing two diamond four card draws, lost next hand with aces up and when this gal hit her diamond flush while I had 3 diamonds up and four others were up.  So stupid

Lost a hand when the dealer dealt both 7th street cards face up.   Rule is they put them both back in the deck, reshuffle and deal new cards.  I lost when I went from a straight to a pair.

Lost 3 or 4 aces and kings up hands to trip 3s and 4s.  Hate that ####.  Lol.

Last hand, I open with a 2.  Have 9 9 under.  Just one raiser with a 3, so I get my last 6k in preflop

I wind up with 7642A when I river ace with a 99.

He winds up with 7632A,  with an AA for high.

Pretty much summed up my trip.  Haven't ran like this for a long time. Oh well.

Had a great time though. Played with Karina Jett last night and table had some cool convos.

Met Eugene Katchalov from Ukraine night before. He was a poker pro for awhile and moved back to Ukraine after his mom moved him to US when he was five due to a conflict then.

When the war started, Eugene tweeted every hour for a week on everything while he got his wife and family out of Kyiv,  and on to Poland, and then Budapest.  Once they were safe,  he helped many many people find housing and food.  Such a cool guy and it was an honor to meet him.

Back in 3 weeks for more action, hopefully with less carnage.   Lol.

Anyone can stake players at pocketfives.com or stakekings.com.

Slightly amusing story about Albini's stakes.  He only opened it to a circle of friends, via email.  Nate Silver, of polling fame and (wrongfully) being accused of saying Hillary was a lock in 2016, was one of them.  He wanted in but didn't get in before Steve was sold out, and Silver said he hadn't thought he would sell out so quickly, which of course led to everyone saying stuff along the lines of, "Well, this isn't the first time you got a prediction wrong," etc.

Also regarding stakes, I only stake people who are friends of Mr. krista or me and who ask us to be in.  Mr. krista asked me a few days ago if you had taken action from anyone and seemed to be interested!  I told him I didn't think so.  Maybe you should if you haven't.  This year aside, I'd be in .  :)

That was a really cool story about the Ukrainian guy.

Steve was in 7th but lost a huge stack to David Williams a few hands ago, holding a full house but losing to straight flush.

I was worried, but he's been able to grind back up winning a few hold 'em hands, and that's his worst game.

Tamon Nakamura was the guy that chased me down in a razz hand when I was in first with 85k day one.

Had not shown a losing razz hand all day.

Had 7 5 4 2 up.  He had 8 7 J 9 up.  Called me all the way down.  He hit is river card.   I had 4 2 underneath, but had yet to show anything like that in 8 levels.  I hit a 9 and lost.   He ended day 1 the chip leader with 300k.  Think he's in second now.  Just can't believe these guys get so rewarded for such bad play.

He made the final table in 4th place!  All sweat appreciated!
