Steve the steam roller.

I can't even watch as I'm too nervous.  This is not going to be a huge payout for us or anything, but I just really want the win for him (second bracelet!).  I'm getting texts from Mr. krista, who is at work but getting live updates from their friends who are on the rail behind Steve.

Also, it was touch-and-go until Sunday as to whether he'd even be playing, because his wife has a serious chronic illness and had not been doing well.  Luckily she started feeling better.

Love this...

Albini's supporters had a golden bell they would ring throughout the final table whenever he won a pot. He now has the bell with him on the table, and a ding is heard whenever chips are pushed in his direction.

Finally down to four!  Mr. krista gets off work in three minutes, so I'll be getting all the real-time updates soon.

Mr krista texted me before leaving work to see if we have a bell.    I’m feverishly checking cat toys to see if I can find at least a little one.

Apparently Brandon is the one who gave Steve the bell.

Level 33.  Blinds 200K 400K... Chip Leader Steve has 15BB.  LOLOLOLOL.  Only 41BB in play at the moment.  Antes are 50K on the stud games.

I’m ten songs into an all-Paul playlist I’ve been using as my sweat.  Steve doesn’t like the Beatles.  All my songs are “winning” or poker-related.  Gotta keep it going.  He’s 3/1 in chips now.

We also texted a pic of a very expensive bottle of champagne we’re hoping to open.

Not the same level that you’ve all been sweating so far, but I am in the $500 freeze out this morning (play starts in 40 minutes)

Played just a little cash last night to knock off a little rust ( though as I have not played regularly in 5+years and barely any since Covid it’s a lot of rust). All things considered, I felt comfortable back at the table but definitely misplayed some hands I wouldn’t have a few years back.

I’d say minimal chance I make it to Day 2, but I got to spend Fathers Day and today with my Dad doing something we both enjoy. He min-cashed the Millionaire Maker and is doing this as well, then possibly the Seniors Event.

Very cool!  Good luck to you and Dad!

GL buddy, let me know how you do.  And see ya at the game on 7/1?

Slightly amusing story about Albini's stakes.  He only opened it to a circle of friends, via email.  Nate Silver, of polling fame and (wrongfully) being accused of saying Hillary was a lock in 2016, was one of them.  He wanted in but didn't get in before Steve was sold out, and Silver said he hadn't thought he would sell out so quickly, which of course led to everyone saying stuff along the lines of, "Well, this isn't the first time you got a prediction wrong," etc.
Oof.

Not that Silver should care, but I always defend him and the 2016 election even to this day as he wasn't "wrong."

At second break, sitting on 52K with blinds about to be 600/1200 with 600 big blind ante.

Just moved tables, literally sat down, paid BB on my 3rd hand and we went to break, so no reads on table. I’m probably the 4th/5th largest stack - 1 real big stack at about 125K, another that looks to be in the 85-90 range and then 2-3 others my range and the rest short stacks.

I’m pleasantly surprised with how I’m doing so far.

Awesome, keep us posted.

At $500, the field is not going to be filler with a lot of top players. Keep stackin'

Bit if bad luck before dinner break - blinds at 1K/2.5K, I get big blind, table break, big blinds in my 3rd hand there right to another table break where I got the big blind on my 2nd hand.

Really stung as was facing big raises all 3 times.

Down to 24K, will be 1.5K/3K after dinner. Need a couple double ups quick or it’ll be a quick night after dinner

And out just after dinner break. We moved from Bally’s to Paris, so 3rd table change in about 40 minutes of play, hit with blinds again (uncanny) so was left with 16K with blinds at 1500/3000. Ended up shoving with Q8, button and big blind called. Board bricked, they checked to river when BB bet to get it heads up. He had Q 10 and the 10 played for high card.

Overall not bad for first time playing cards in a few years.

:blackdot:

My bro goes every year. He turned 50 in January so he is going to give the seniors event a go tomorrow.

I will update if anything gets juicy.

Playing in Vegas got the bug back for me - planning to play in a home game with @nirad3next week which will be fun, but has anyone played on Global Poker? Real money online poker is still illegal in California, but Global Poker seems to be a workaround as a "sweepstakes" site where you play with virtual currency that can then be redeemed for cash prizes. Anyone here familiar with it or know anyone that has played on it?

Update on how my dad did: For WSOP events, min-cashed the Millionaire Maker, busted out early from the $500 event and the Seniors event. He played several of the daily deep stack events that Paris was holding in the same room as the WSOP events, min cashing in a couple. Last night was his last night in Vegas, and he took down 3rd place in the deepstack for an $8600 win (I believe these are about a $250 buy in). I believe he was having a profitable run already (had some decent cash game wins earlier on), but this just sealed it as a very profitable trip for him.

I play on Ignition and have no complaints, other than the inability to use a HUD. Checks arrive within about two weeks, and their customer service has been good the one or two times I needed it.  Names remain anonymous, so any notes you make on a player are lost after the game, but I pretty much only play Zone/Zoom now so it doesn't matter.

One of my best friends has 2.3m chips in the super seniors right now.  28 left and in about 9th at the moment.

6 left... in 3rd with 5.7m

Finished night with 8.425m chips.   3rd of 5. $330k up top. $86k locked up
He finished 3rd for $151k.

At end of Day 2, hour left, had 2 BB, 30k chips.  Went all in on button with 56.   SB folded 10k chips.    BB called 15k more for 70k pot.   BB had AQ.  Flop had a 6 and it held.  70K.  40 minutes left Day 2, he runs it up to 630k by end of Day 2. LOL.

Out at 185. Paid 116. Good hands. Just could not hit a flop. Flopped a flush on last hand. With a 6 2hh. Had an ace. I checked. Another check. Big stack bet 5k. Thought he was stealing or 2 pair. Jammed last 21k. He had nut flush. Runner runner low but he had nuts on that too.

World series of run bad continues.  One drop event.  All in with 66 vs QJ.   Flop is 8 6 9      I lost.
