2023-2024 NBA Salary Cap Draft - SECOND Annual Battle for the Wikkid Cup - Preseason Rankings are In! (4 Viewers)

Career highlights and awards

This sums up Buddy perfectly. His career highlights have 12 bullets points. This is his 8th season in the NBA, and 10 of his top 12 highlights are from college.

I'm here. I was gonna take Middleton, so give me a second.

Just kidding, he is terrible and pricey. Still need a minute though
He's pricey but definitely not terrible.
His 7 ppg and 22% three point shooting disagree
Limited minutes coming back from injury. Have you watched basketball before this season?
Like last year when he was also pretty terrible? His trajectory is not looking good friend, 37%, 32%, 22%, 20.1, 15.1, 7.3
24/6/6 in the playoffs shooting 40% from 3. There is a difference between being hurt and being bad.
It is very possible there isn't a difference for him. His knee(s?) is arthritic so he might be a shell of his former self most the time. If teams weren't scared of his injury history, he would have gotten a significantly larger contract this offseason.
Certainly possible. A healthy and returned to form Middleton would be killer at the 3 in a lineup with Dame, White, Gordon, and Wemby. But I have other options too.

He’s not that old, but arthritis can be a *****.

This pick should fast track me to the Wikkid Cup top tier:

10.16 - Payton Pritchard - G, Boston
$4,037,277

Irrational confidence guy who can serve as secondary facilitator and instant scoring off the bench.
I have been looking at him for a while. I just couldn't bring another no D guy into my back court for that price, no matter how great his offense may be.

Man, I wish I could draft my hero Isaiah Thomas, King of the 4th.

Speaking of the King of the 4th, the ProAm scoring record mentioned below was formerly held by Isaiah Thomas (81). 😀

Team Trader Jake
10.17 MIL SF/SG MarJon Beauchamp $2.6 mil

Second year wing with enticing upside. Solid shot, handle, and athleticism to make opponents uncomfortable.

Due to an unusual bball background, Beauchamp's been learning on the job more than most prospects. He was a top high school prospect in the Seattle area but mold issues in his house affected him. As a result he elected to train for the draft instead of going to college, but then Covid hit. He ended up playing ball at a community college with some friends and destroying the competition before going to the g league for a year and getting drafted in the 1st round. This offseason he captured some attention when he scored 83 points in a Seattle ProAm.

In real life I'd like to see him start at the 2 for Milwaukee and be the young buck to work around screens on defense and push in transition on offense.

10.19 - Derrick Jones Jr, SF DAL $2,709,849

The last regular starter for less than $5M. He's athletic plays good defense and is shooting a respectable 36.8% from 3 so far this season.
He does not play good defense.
He absolutely has a reputation for being a good defender. Dallas is starting him and playing him 21 mpg for a reason and it isn't his outside shooting.

The 26-year-old has always excelled on the defensive end.
Jones Jr. is known for his defense and athleticism, fitting the team's offseason theme of getting younger and more athletic.
he graded out as one of the best at his position in both their Defensive Positional Versatility metric and their Defensive Role Versatility statistic.

I know what his reputation is. I've only watched four games but in none of the four games have I been impressed.

He's definitely athletic, but he's often in the wrong place. I'm thrilled with his 3-pt shooting otherwise I'd be clamoring for no minutes. I'm still miffed at how many he's getting (until i watch Josh Green make as many mistakes or more and assume the rookie OMax must be having rough times in practice).

Josh Green has gotten more minutes, but only because he started for Kyrie when he was out.

I compared Green to Jones advanced metrics and Jones has been better in the combined metrics, although neither look good. Green is actually better defensively so far and Jones is better offensively. Just not sure Dallas has a better option on the roster.

With the Mavs, I'm seeing the same thing with Derrick's defense as you Instinctive.

That said, I thought Jones was good on defense with the Bulls the last few seasons and maybe even a bit better with the Heat before that.

I blame it on Jason Kidd. 😁

It is just 4 games for Jones so far on a new team. Do we think KAT is going to shoot 23.8% from 3 all season? Is Butler going to average only 16.5 ppg for the year?

Jones also has zero blocks or steals, which is an anomaly for him. To be fair, he did just last until the end of 10th round and cost less than $3M and I hadn't even considered him until now.
