2023-2024 NBA Salary Cap Draft - SECOND Annual Battle for the Wikkid Cup - Preseason Rankings are In! (2 Viewers)

PG - Darius Garland
SG - Marcus Smart
SF - Herb Jones
PF - Giannis

Giannis needs more spacing
I think Garland and Smart (maybe) will do well enough from the outside. Herb could end up coming off the bench depending on how things shake out.
I think Smart is a VG point guard, but not so great at SG. He will need someone to lob to. He is Sherman Douglas esq in that department.

Athletic dude who can score inside and can score outside. Does a great job of finding the empty space on the floor created by a uniquely talented big man. Long underrated defender who showed during the 22-23 playoffs that he can really impact the games of great players like Lebron and KD. Some players may be able to get physical with Wemby, they'll have less success when he switches onto them:

Aaron Gordon F $22,266,182

I think Gordon is probably my favorite Nugget at this point. He bought in pretty quickly to the Nuggets system and mostly being the 4th/5th offensive option while being the glue offensively and defensively, but by the playoffs last year he cut out a little of the offensive nonsense (every now and they he used to take a couple shots a game that just didn't make sense in the flow of the offense) and went turbo on D. Beyond his actual play on the court, he is just nothing but good vibes and seems to be the guy that pulls the team together. If he was more of a 37% three point shooter where teams really had to respect him outside rather than a low 30s shooter, I think he would be one of the 20 best players in the NBA.

Absolutely.

He's more valuable to them than Porter and pretty close to Murray because he does things no one else on the team (and few in the NBA) can do.

4.07 Alex Caruso, $9,460,000

Try to score off my team Go ahead. Caruso, PG3, Tatum, McDaniels

@thecatch
This was specifically the point of attack defender that I was talking about when I took KCP. He's so good on ball.
I’m surprised Caruso is coming off the bench for the Bulls so far this year.
He did most of last year and averages like 6 ppg.

I think his legend is greater than his actual play warrants.

I love it when players figure out how to accept a lesser role, particularly on offense, in order to help their team win. Not easy to do when you're highly drafted and used to being a focal point.

For whatever reason, he seems only capable of playing 20-25mpg.

Doesn't sound like that's going to change this year
(He's) performed better than Williams so far. But the Bulls want to be mindful of Caruso’s minutes.

“I don’t think much has changed from last year with him,” Donovan said. “When he gets up into the high 20s, low 30s on a consistent, nightly basis, that’s where there can be some issues. So I think we’ve always got to monitor that.

“Certainly you’re going to have games that go into overtime. There’s extra time that he’s going to need to be out there. It’s part of it. But at the end of the year, you want to try to keep him in that mid-20 range just to protect him and have him available for games.”

I know he's banged up for the next couple of weeks, but any time you can get an All-Star and top five guy in defensive rating for 20 million, you jump. Surprised he's still around.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present defensive monster and excellent rebounder

Mr. Jarrett Allen, C, Cleveland, $20,000,000

4.12 Bruce Brown SF STUD $22

Denver is REALLY gonna miss this dude as they attempt to repeat. Super explosive and clutch. Big fan.
Don't get me wrong, I love BB, but there is a little bit of revisionist history with his season because he had a couple of amazing games in the playoffs. Game-to-game in the regular season he was very inconsistent and after an amazing start to the season shooting threes, he was below 30% after January including the playoffs. The thing they will miss is his malleability and the way he ran the court (plus he seems like a legitimately awesome dude) - his production was hit an miss and the only thing they'll miss is come playoff time when they trim the rotation to 8 if the new bench doesn't step up.

Nice pick, I was going to take him. Need to regroup.

Went back and forth on him and Turner. Thought there's no way either would have made it to my 4th rounder or I'd have taken PG in the 3rd. Nice get.

I was hoping he would come back. Happy you grabbed him quick and didn't torture me. 😀

If you remember I watched every Denver game the last couple of years and was leading the BB charge BEFORE the playoffs. AG had the hot start, but Bruce was their third best player in the second half of the season imo. He was super in transition, would dunk in people's faces when the team was getting stagnant and most needed it. He shot fine, KCP actually cooled shooting in the clutch as the season wore on. Kinda like Marcus Smart, BB was the heart of the team and was better as the stakes were higher. He always made the big play, but would also compile whenever he was out there. I don't think the Nuggets could have paid him without moving Porter, and nobody wanted Porters contract.

4.17 MIL C Brook Lopez $25.0 mil

Lots of centers available, but very few with Splash Mountain's combination of defense with offense. Add in his proven track record against the very best teams and he's the pick here.

He's among the contenders for Defensive Player of the Year and his ability to stretch the defense on offense from the 5 is extremely valuable.

Nice pick. I was curious where he was going to go as he's a bit overpriced but has an incredibly valuable skill set.

Agreed. There are so many "value" centers available, but most of them are poor defenders, strictly rim runners that will ruin offensive spacing, or both.

Very few have what Brook Lopez brings. With him now on board it opens up so many more options to (hopefully) build a title contender.

I had been eyeing him for the entire 4th round. Started to get my hopes up.
