Man is Jayson Tatum unlikable to watch. Just absolute non-stop bitching.
Agreed. He certainly isn't the only one, but man, many times it is unwatchable.
My wife almost bought me a Tatum t-shirt she found on sale for Christmas, but my son talked her out of it because he knows how I feel about him.

I'm conflicted on him because, yes, he is our best player and a top 10 player in the world. I also like his work ethic as he seems to improve from season to season and plays almost every game.

However, his whining to refs (mainly this) and poor shot selection drive me crazy. He also doesn't defend well all the time. My son knows all this and knew I wouldn't really want a Tatum jersey or shirt because I dislike him as often as I like him.

I told her if you get me anyone, get me a Jrue Holiday jersey. I've loved his game forever, was a major reason I rooted for the Bucks when they won it all and is a major reason this is the best shot the Celtics have had to win it all since I've been a fan of theirs.
You should try loving Luka. Overall it's been an amazing ride from the moment Dallas got him. 95% awesomeness. But good lord when he costs 2-5 buckets per game with both hands up and wide and a big complaining session begins...I want to scream.

Agree with this 100%. Love the guy. Have spent way too much money on his shoes, his cards, even dolls/action figures (sorry @shuke ). And most of the time, it's worth every penny. But there are moments where it's beyond frustrating.

Saw a wild stat on the innerwebs today (so it must be true):

The Pistons have led more games at the end of the first quarter than the Lakers have this season (10 vs 9).

Woj:

The Toronto Raptors are finalizing a trade to send OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks for a package including RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and draft considerations, sources tell ESPN.

Precious Achiuwa is also part of the deal to the Knicks, sources tell ESPN.
Nice deal for the Knicks if it gets finalized. Barrett is on Team Canada and could become a fan favorite in Toronto. Just feels like teams like the Raptors and Bulls had an opportune time to change things up last season

The Kings desperately need a premium wing player. Bummed that they missed out on OG. I guess the Raptors are determined not to do a full scale rebuild.

Sounds like there is a single second round pick changing hands from NYC to Toronto. I think this is a bit of a win win trade but holy **** did Toronto **** the bed not trading OG last year.
It’s the Pistons 2024 second so it’s basically a first, but yeah, Memphis supposedly offered them 3 firsts last year.

Chet has ROY wrapped up, right?
The strategy of wearing down Jokic is much easier said than done, but Chet seemed to do a good job of gassing the big man by constantly setting up near the 3-pt line and making Jokic have to come out and guard him.

Chet went 4-4 on 3's. He got good looks because Jokic could not close in fast enough.

-210. Victor +150
Don’t tell Scoot

22/11/7 last night. Not bad for a kid who cannot buy beer for another year and a month.....
I’m a fan. He just has no shot at being rookie of the year

Has anybody in here made a strong argument to the contrary? I sure haven't and haven't heard any local a shills suggesting it. That shot needs a LOT of work.

But man, can he drop a dime.

He suggested it himself.

"Trying to get Rookie of the Year, that's still my goal," Henderson told CBS Sports after the Blazers' 126-106 loss to the Warriors on Saturday. "That's still up in the air, I think."

Sounds like something a 19 year old might say about himself. But he has no shot.

On the other end, the Thunder (and others) seem to be onto something by putting someone like Jalen Williams as the primary on Jokic and then letting Chet just roam. Jokic had 7 turnovers last night. I know it was a b2b for the Nuggets, but it was also 3 in 4 for the Thunder. That was a really impressive win last night

I don’t really like the return for the raptors, though I guess it was harder with OG now expiring, but I will say that Quickley getting the chance to be the starting PG could be huge for Toronto long term. Will be interesting to see if he can take the reins.

love this deal for the knicks. long time knicks fan. barrett just started his 4 year rookie extension, making 25mm per +. barrett is an ok player. he disappears for eons and defensively he is pretty meh. inefficient 3rd option making too much money. IQ is a nice player, but now he is an RFA looking to cash in. issue for him is that he is small and not at all a PG. he is more a scoring guard really well suited for 2nd unit. knicks had way too many G and having to pay IQ for his role just wasn’t worth the money. the knicks hit their ceiling with this group and the way they were set up. they still have fournier’s contract to move and OG is a CAA guy, repped by Leon Rose’s son. OG is a better defender and bigger body and a true F, unlike Barrett. Achiuwa might be useful with robinson dead. Man, Donovan at SG would make this team a bit more interesting. Knicks still have draft assets too. They had to do something, this group wasn’t going anywhere, maybe win a round.

Hollinger thinks Quickley was the best player in the deal. I don't think I agree - an above average wing is so much harder to find than a good small guard - but he makes an interesting case.

Seems like it is pretty true.
What source are you drawing this from?

Everything I have read says that Zach sometimes frustrates his teammates on the floor with his style of play, but in the locker room he is well liked for his humility and work ethic.

In fact, during the broadcasts, they make a point of showing how often Zach (in street clothes) is the first player off the bench to greet his teammates during a timeout.

I assume she is mostly just comparing the Bulls’ records with and without LaVine.

Yeah, exactly. That is why I posted it on June 21st.

I am not going back to find the articles, but there were several of them and lots of rumors.

There have been no credible reports that teammates “hate” LaVine nor that the Bulls are “desperate” to trade him.

There have been reports about teammates occasionally being frustrated with LaVine’s play. Something like that happens frequently on teams not meeting expectations. The Bulls also shopped LaVine multiple times now and would like to move him. I know you’re being hyperbolic but the extreme hyperbole is what I’m disagreeing with then and now.

Not at all. I am disagreeing with your assessment that the Bulls aren't desperate to get off that deal.

The team plays better without him. It is going to be awkward when/if they play him. This was rumored all summer and no one wants to trade for Lavine because that is one of the worst contracts in the league.

You will refuse to believe because it isn't a Draymond Green/Jordan Poole situation.

His teammates don't want to play with him and probably don't like him, the Bulls don't want him and at 40 + million for the next 4 years neither does anyone else.

It would be easy for them to get rid of LaVine if they want. For example, from reports, it seems overwhelmingly likely the Lakers would trade Russell, Hachimura, and Vincent for LaVine plus a small contract. At a minimum that could save the Bulls future money plus break up the contract to smaller, easier-movable pieces. I don't think the Bulls would do that though. I think they'd demand more or decide to keep LaVine. We'll see.

They will not get more and I am not sure how they could already do this deal when it can't happen until January 15th at the earliest.

Right, the timing of the trade would be between mid-January and the trade deadline.

Gotta say...not loving the Grant Williams experience overall. Guy doesn't quite seem to know his limits. Feels like a couple times a game my reaction is "please god don't try to drive" and then he does and then it ends poorly.

I am not sure what you want from him. He isn't a superstar, but he gives maximum effort at all times and tries to do anything he can to help his team win even with his limitations.

He isn't Lebron, Steph, Jokic etc so he is going to fail at certain things, but the effort is always there. Every team should have a player like him because he makes the team better even with his shortcomings.

Not this year. He is a -10.5 per 100 possessions with him on the court this year

I want him to do all the things you said on defense. And then recognize that this is the NBA, if effort was all it took Kenneth Faried would have been on ten consecutive all NBA teams and probably still in the league.

So if you can't dribble, finish at the rim, or find the open guy...stop trying to drive or take it coast to coast and get the ball to the guys who can and space the floor.

As a Boston fan, I was originally a big fan of Grant Williams but I wasn't that upset to see him go. He worked hard and got his 3-pt shot to a good level and made himself a nice chunk of money.

But @Instinctive is right, he tries to do too much. It pans out less than half the time. When we had both him and Marcus Smart trying to assert themselves on offense it led to a handful of losses each year and poor stretches in the playoffs.

Grant Williams' offense should be corner threes and offensive putbacks. Maybe an occasional mid-range pullup when they close out too hard, but the rest of his game should be just moving the ball if he isn't open from 3.

Yeah, Grant is not having a great season so far. He ranks 195 out of 200 qualified players in PER at only 8.6, 184th in BPM, tied for 483rd in VORP, and 166th in WS/48. Effort only gets you so far.
