Dinwiddie is only 30 and can still fill a role on most teams and would be a decent 6th man. Lowry could maybe run a second unit on a deep team. Danny Green is ready for retirement.
I was going to make fun of Dinwiddie (he was playing so poorly earlier this year, some within the team thought he was point shaving), but now that it sounds like Lakers are the front runner for him I’ll change my tune and call him the missing piece for another (play-in) championship!

The nba trade deadline is the most pointless of all the leagues. People spend hundreds of hours writing and podcasting about it and then the biggest name traded is like, Grant Williams. Sucks.

I was thinking the same thing. I've been reading about this day for the past month and we're gushing over Kelly F'n Olynyck? :ponder:
Chill
Yea I’m on @Deamon side now. Dont you dare disparage Kelly ****ing Olynyk

You guys already won the in-season tournament. Don’t get greedy.

Don't worry once the Raptors have a day where they have to start Olynyck and he goes for 24 12 5 and a couple of blocks. He will change his tune and think he is a top 10 player.

Jokes aside, he has had a pretty great NBA career compared to what I thought he would. He really turned it around when he redshirted that year at Gonzaga and didn't really become on the NBA radar until after that.

He was always tall, but was a PG when I coached him, and grew like 6 inches in his grade 11 season.

To have a kid from my fairly small hometown make the NBA is incredible and he's still a legend in the city.

He's bounced around so much lately, but whoever he plays for is always the team I cheer for after Philly (and then Portland), but I just don't think I can do it with the Raptors. Really hope he tests free agency this summer!

Good point. I need the NBA to invent more weird things for the Lakers to win.

Bubble championship ✅
Play-in games ✅
In-Season Tournament ✅

(And it was the first/only IST not sportswashed by Emirates so that didn’t have to go on the banner)

This is a great way to put it. When I see Lebron flop I am like WTF, when Pat Beverley does it, I think I see what he is doing there.
When I see Beverly flop after hacking everyone on the court I think “screw this guy, it’s absurd that he’s in the NBA”
Are you a Bucks fan?
No, I’m a Warriors fan since 1989 (Hardaway’s rookie year). Oddly enough though I will be at the Bucks-Wolves game tonight in Milwaukee.

I'm interested in the light protection on the Dallas 2027 FRP to Charlotte but broadly see getting off Grant Williams money as probably worth it alone, and even better to get PJ Washington, who theoretically is a phenomenal fit.

Gafford too...I'm a broken record but I think so far every offseason and deadline of Nico he's done a damn good job, and without much to work with.
as a nyk fan, i love seeing the mavs improve marginally. maybe this year they don’t tank out of the play in and surrender the 1st….maybe late teens.
The tank was so wildly worth it to get Lively it's crazy. That pick was always going to NY this season if remotely healthy. I think post deadline it's a spot or two worse than it otherwise would have been. This team all healthy is a top 4 team in the west with DEN, OKC, LAC (sorry Frosty I don't believe). Especially with a solid deadline shoring up the exact weak spot.

If Dallas could bring back Winwiddie....man that's juicy. One of my favorite role guys in a long time.

I'm that case, as you were. I recalled that you had a WI connection, but wasn't sure if that was connected to Bucks fandom.

Conflicted, but still bought his jerseys and cheered for him to do well. I got more anti-Celtics once he left.

Sixers did a hell of a lot just to basically come out as a net neutral at best. But they can duck the tax!

Furkan gets his trade request granted, reunited with TJ McConnell and then immediately waived.

If it was just Morris, House, Furkan being excised and Pat Bev being traded for Cam Payne, then getting Hield would have been solid. But then they decide to also trade Springer to their main rival just when he is showing something. And they send out 4 seconds and get 2 back, neither of which is particularly strong.

They didn't lose all that much, just not sure that they really got any better overall. Hield will obviously help the offense, but don't see him helping all that much in the playoffs.

And I will miss Pat Bev. He is the absolute epitome of the guy you absolutely hate when he is on another team but ****ing love when he is on yours.

New York with a great (extended) trade deadline.

Charlotte did pretty well and the Mavs did a decent job, though I'm not sure they really needed 2 big men.

After I praised Detroit for the Fontecchio move, they then go and trade Bojan and Burks for kind of a meh return. Grimes is a decent guy to pick up, but in combination, their moves just kind of seem like rearranging the deck chairs.

Toronto with a pretty confusing deadline. I guess it doesn't matter much since they did fairly well with OG and Siakam, but they basically gave up a weak 1st for Agbaji and a couple of months of a Olynyk.

They absolutely did. Desperately. And Washington is more than a big man IMO. Gafford is great depth, bet he gets 10-15 minutes a game rest of season.

Yea. Gave up toughness and D for shooting and flexibility. Assume Lowry is incoming so traded Springer due to the glut of guards.

Too bad this isn’t 5 years ago for Lowry and Hield.

Now that I think about it, considering that they gave up Grant Williams as a front court player, getting 2 back was definitely necessary. Just seems like their best lineups in the playoffs will not involve either, but I guess pj gives them a potential 5 out look that could be so devastating with Luka

Did you get a Houston jersey for his epic run in 2021? Dude averaged 19/8/4 for the good guys.

Nope, only had all his Celtics gear. It was pretty damn exciting when he got drafted. Didn't get anything once he left Boston, and definitely not getting a Raptors jersey. Ugh, this sucks so bad.

Is PJ Washington good? I'm not sure I see it. Seems more like a good (actually not that good) stats, bad team kind of guy.

He isn't. Dallas fans are celebrating the name that had a decent season 4 years ago.
Meh. It's not about being "good" so much as being WAY better than Grant Williams. Much more excited about Gafford and the ability to string together 48 mins of at least league average center play now.

Also hard to know if a guy is good stats bad team if he's just a role player and his teams have always been garbage. Not the same as, say, Trae Young.

I would hope the best playoff lineup is Luka-Kyrie-Lively, then with 2 of the following pending matchups: Exum, DJJ, Washington, THJ, Maxi

Grant Williams was horrible. Y'all have either been ignoring or disagreeing with me about it most of the season but he was so far and away the worst player for Dallas, clearly disliked by Luka (which matters), has this haughty better than he is attitude that doesn't work when you can't score at all...we were so wrong about the off-season grabbing him. He's also not a real frontcourt player, his game is actually that of a fat, slow guard who can't shoot and thinks he can dribble and pass but can't do that either.

I'm thrilled they turned him into anything that won't be a net negative for 4 more years.

Pistons were down 23 with 5 to go in the third quarter. It is now tied with 17 seconds left. #badboys

This team should never get a good hash tag, let alone steal the nickname of the best Piston teams.

Pretty sure the bad boys right now in their 50's and 60's could give this group a run in a seven game series.

I still don't get why you trade Pat Bev for Cam Thomas and a second and Springer for a second (after he is finally showing what he can do and just turned 21). They created roster spots in the Hield trade and giving away House already.

And Pat Bev is what the Bucks needed and you know the Celtics will develop Springer and he will be a menace on D at the very least in the playoffs as needed. So two rivals get a nice assist from the Sixers. Ugh.

Springer won't play any meaningful minutes for Boston in the playoffs

I just got so excited by back to back wins and Ivey's crazy stat line.

Can’t believe how bent out of shape Sixer fans are about losing a third year player who hasn’t even surpassed the 500 career minute mark yet.

I guess maybe I am missing Springer's upside and fit with Boston. He got a little more playing time this year in PHI, but he had a -13 net rating, a 10.5 PER, a -0.1 VORP score, and has only shot 21% from three this season. I am not all that knowledgeable about his game, but he didn't appear to be a scorer, distributor, or rebounder in his limited time with the Sixers. I struggle to see who he takes minutes from on the Celtics (this year or in the future). I suppose they will try to develop him in practice, but I don't see him playing many meaningful minutes, and can only see him getting on the court in end of game closeout situations.

My knowledge of Springer extends all the way back to 15 minutes ago.

Watched this highlight video and checked out his basketball reference page. He's not going to be a contributor with Boston without improving his shooting, but he appears to have the skills to be a very good defender.

Although I am hoping they unleash him tonight against the lowly Wizards. Him dropping 20 in his debut would make so many fans so salty

Well he just turned 21 and has had limited time to grow in the NBA. He has the tools to be an elite perimeter defender and recently essentially shut down both Steph and Luka. He was G-League Finals MVP, so he isn't totally without offensive skill, and was just really getting some rotational minutes. The thought here is they gave up on him too early and got no ROI.

Again, I don't know much about Springer. Steph and Luka both had low scoring nights in recent games against the 76ers, but both games the Sixers got blown out in the second half by 20 points. Springer was one of the few bright spots against the Mavs (+8 BPM, second to Harris at +10.4). But against GSW, he had a -3.8 BPM with a -30 net rating. Maybe they gave up on him too soon and should have kept him, but I'm not sure how much trade value he had given his limited career minutes and production so far. In 3 years, he had one game scoring above 11 points (19 against the Hawks). What do you think his trade value was, ie what would have been a decent ROI from a trade?

Not the end of the world by any means. Just seems like an unnecessary move and premature. Probably better for Springer to be with a team who develops players better . . . .

That probably won't be Boston. Over the last few years, they have been in contention and have played their core guys a ton of minutes. Boston barely played Aaron Nesmith, who now is a regular starter and contributor on the Pacers. They've kept guys like Sam Hauser and Peyton Pritchard, but both guys have gotten limited minutes in the 3-4 years on the team. Boston seems to be in a cycle of trading younger guys for established vets for immediate help. Like acquiring Derrick White for picks and Romeo Langford (who was getting decent minutes in SAS before he got hurt). Or moving Rob Williams to get Jrue Holiday. Boston is a win now team, so Springer could end up somewhere else next year.
