'The Sixers are not planning to extend Tyrese Maxey this summer, sources told ESPN. He is still seen as a big part of their future, but the team wants to delay an extension for him to preserve flexibility."

This seems like a mistake. Maxey is a legit player, and if he's willing to sign long-term the 76ers should lock him up.
Windhorst went on air and said the Sixers are doing this to keep his cap number down for a potential Lillard trade. Doesn't seem like the kind of player Portland needs, but he's certainly a much better headline asset than Tyler Herro or the Nets' PHO/DAL picks.

I think it’s as much to keep flexibility for next offseason. His cap hold will only be $13 million, so vs signing him for like $30 mill for the first year, they gain $17 mill in cap space for next year

Wow, that's insanity.

You have to wonder how long the James Harden trade drags out. Could be anytime, but after Morey waited for months to move Ben Simmons, nothing can be dismissed. If he can't pull another star to Philadelphia it could get interesting. The market certainly wasn't there to sign Harden if he opted in.

For me personally this might be the worst off-season ever. I liked rooting for the Warriors because of Steph and Green is a Spartan, but I am not sure I can root for them with Paul on the team and the Pistons fall as far as you can possibly fall in the lottery, draft a guy that has comps to Jae Crowder, teams are giving away players and we have the second most cap space in the league and our prize is Joe Harris.
If we weren't going to get one of the top wings (grant or Thomas), I'd rather pick up a shooter and retain our cap space for next year than dole out a 3 yr, $20 mil per year contract for an average player.

Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Jordan back to nuggets
Jackson is a weird one. Unplayable in the postseason and now he gets their tax MLE. Bruce Brown was effectively their backup PG in the playoffs, who is that guy now?
So ****ing dumb.
Calvin Booth trades for Aaron Gordon and KCP, signs Bruce Brown and Jeff Green, drafts Christian Braun, then wins an NBA championship...and all of a sudden he's an idiot?

Ok

Gabe Vincent 3/33 to lakers
Great signing for the Lakers. Suspect Austin Reaves will be announced soon as well.

Does that mean Dennis Schroder and / or D'Angelo Russell go elsewhere?
dont they have to wait because they can only offer him like $50 but are free to match any higher offer from another team?

I mean, not have to, but presumably reaves will want to try to get higher offers elsewhere

Lakers probably already offered him the most they can offer, but Reaves will probably go out to see if he can get more $, which the lakers will match.

They just showed on espn how lakers could still fit DLo ($18m), Reaves ($12m), and Rui ($15m), and still be under the tax.

I’m guessing Schroeder is gone.
Reaves getting a starting salary if $12m?
It’s the Arenas Rule. That’s the most the Lakers can offer first year, so even if a team offers him 4/$98m, the deal would be something like $12/$13/$35/$38 (not real numbers but something like that).

Ingles deal to Orlando is 2/22

They finally found their answer for a ball handler that can shoot :oldunsure:
Young teams need veterans that can still play and also show the young guys how to do things the right way. Smart signing for Orlando. The alternative is what the young players had in Houston the last few seasons.

@Yo Mama put some details above, but I am expecting another team to offer him the max RFA offer sheet they can. If for no other reason but to force the Lakers to pay him as much as possible. We'll see.

I would keep Schroeder over Russell if that was an option.

Why?

They are going to trade maxey that's why. Stupid

Unless it is the Pistons, then the Lakers can send them an edible arrangement and we won't try to sign him.

No they’re not. They are keeping flexibility for next offseason

I guess I don’t think that would happen soon. But maybe.

And they’ll tie up their cap space for a few days (although I don’t think teams like Hou or SA would care). RFA rules are stupid.

In the playoffs, Schroder was the only player who willingly stepped into and fought off the Jokic screens. I don't know how he didn't end up with a concussion.

I know that means little regarding his contract, but when guys like Booker/Durant/AD/Strus/Butler seemed to always slack off when Jokic was near, to see that scrawny guy dive right in was impressive.

5 years, $160 million for Jerami Grant to stay in Portland.

Celtics giving Porzingis a 2 year, $60 million extension.
that is a pretty good deal on the celtics side.

Excellent move...I like how there was no drama figuring this out on either side...the team didn't need that and it really seems like he wants to be in Boston...C's now have him locked down for 3 years...the contract provides stability but it's not too long which would be risky with his injury history...I'm excited to see how this works out...hopefully Porzingas brings a new dimension that helps the C's get over the hump...they now have the stud portion of the roster figured out...time get some of those role players that can make a legit difference like Eddie House and James Posey in 08 or Brown for the Nuggets this year or what Caleb Martin did against them this year.
