Not that anyone is watching this crap other than me, but Scott Foster is making a mockery of the game in WAS/ORL. This guy truly sucks. Neither team has a clue what is a foul and isn't. He randomly blows his whistle to get attention every 30 seconds.
Sixers-Celtics was a hoot with some of those calls. And I wonder if Toby Harris is secretly a Celtic

The Magic have won 9 in a row. I haven’t watched the NBA in years. Stumbled onto their game last night after seeing their streak on ESPN.

Bunch of balding white dudes on their team was kind of surprising.

Also, can the NBA do something about the fouling at the end? Like, how about a 15 second shot clock inside 3 minutes in the 4th quarter and an auto 2 points for any fouls.

Boom. You’re welcome, NBA. I fixed your game.

Not sure how I feel about the crazy last night of group play in the IST. It was weird seeing teams with their starters still playing late in the game up 30 trying to push the lead to 40 to have a better point differential. The opponents had already subbed in the bench long ago, and those guys were fighting to get a better shot in the NBA. That’s all well and good until and All NBA player gets hurt and misses half the season for a game already in hand in a regular season game.

Maybe they need to change the tiebreaker to total quarters won in the tournament. Or best record across the entire season instead. Point differential is tough considering some teams have a slower pace of play and some teams already eliminated may not have gone all out and didn’t care if they lost by 10 or 40. Not sure what a suitable alternative would be (or if point differential really is the best option).

This is a similar argument folks make as to why NBA players shouldn't play in FIBA World Cup, or the Americup, or even the Olympics. I remain unconvinced this is a worthy argument against

Bulls another win at home against the Pellies

Coby White thriving with 31-9-6. Bulls are so much more fun to watch with Coby running the show and the ball moving all over. He and the whole team have so much more energy.

No Zach Lavine in sight. Forget other teams not wanting him. I don't know if I'm the Bulls that I want him back. The team is unquestionably better right now w/o him with how he's played this season.

Lavine might have the most negative value I can remembrer in a while. Zach Lowe talked about this in the abstract, but would something like Lavine and a pick to the Hornets for Hayward (expiring) and Cody Martin work? Neither team is going anywhere for a bit, the Bulls reset, the Hornets get a chance to go all in on offense and skip defense? Honestly I don't do that if I'm Charlotte. Is Chicago just stuck with Lavine?

Wow. OKC was up 111-87 against the Mavs in the 4th quarter and gave up a 30-0 run to go down 117-111—but bounced back to win the game at the end. I cant imagine it being often that a team gives up a 30-0 run in the 4th and still ends up winning.

Dallas OKC game was ho hum, then very frustrating, then one of the best games ever, then soul crushingly sad and a reminder of why I wish we could upgrade from Kidd.

But also really hard to draw conclusions when 4 of your 6 best players are out.

But also...you've got a side out with like a minute left and all you need to do is draw up a good play and you draw up "What if Derrick Jones Jr. runs right up to Luka to get the inbound and lets SGA take the ball away from him and effectively end the game?"

Or "I know we have these challenges and other coaches get an extra possession out of them with some regularity against me, but the bad travel call on Luka that's about to kill our momentum...I'll just call timeout I won't actually challenge."

I don't think teams can challenge a travel call. I believe they can only challenge fouls, out of bounds calls, or goaltending.

This is true.

Cody Martin hasn't played in forever and Hayward is taking up minutes that should be going to other, younger players. The pick might me the most valuable thing in this deal, but I don't hate it.

Probably a good bar where Lavine's value is at.

Given Lavine's not been dealt yet, I doubt Chicago (and current management that handed him that deal) swallows that pill of giving him away. Just like they've refused to rebuild IMO because they got completely worked in the Vuc for Wagner/Wendell Carter+ deal.

The guys the Bulls SHOULD have dealt over a year ago have little to no value remaining (Lavine/Derozan). I think they do have some decent deals with Coby/Caruso/Ayo as complimentary parts. They're all just stuck in the mud behind the Derozan/Lavine duo. It's just refreshing after all these years to see some ball movement and energy with Lavine sitting.

I don't expect the Bulls to go on to be a good team w/o Lavine but I don't think they'll be able to bring him back w/o him getting booed at home until they slow down

Well, I learned something new today! That's an odd choice.

Last week I posted about the Bulls brutal upcoming schedule (which they’ve started 2-0 on) but I missed the added games due to the tournament. Next two are now winnable — vs. Hornets and @Spurs. If Zach misses those and the Bulls go 4-0 in his absence, the optics will certainly be bad.

Regardless, I do believe Zach can be a valuable guy on a team like the Lakers where he’d be a third option. He’s been close to a 50%/40% guy on high volume now and he frequently is taking difficult shots when the offense bogs down.. Things would be easier on a team with some better teammates.

Unfortunately, anyone that goes to the Lakers sees an immediate 10% drop to their shooting percentages.

Saying "stop ******" is not the same as calling Lebron "a *****" either. But that is how Lebron was trying to act by saying "don't use that word so loosely" and then stepping over to the sideline.

Playoff atmosphere in this Ind/Bos game.

The NBA lucked out with tonight's games in Indianapolis and Sacramento, two cities that haven't seen much recent success.
Sacramento is the rare market where the fans are going to go crazy for pre-Christmas basketball regardless as long as the team is decent.

Should add that the only thing that will keep them quiet is New Orleans boat racing them again, which may very well happen because they are an awful matchup for the Kings.

Indiana good enough to do something this year or still too early?

Haliburton is such a freaking stud. 27/12 so far this year on 45% from deep.

Their defense has slowly started to get a little bit better. If that can continue and they figure out how to be even average defensively, they’ll be frisky.
