5 undefeated teams going into the final week. Absolutely crazy.
Let's say Washington wins out, Ohio St/Michigan winner beats Iowa in the B1G championship, and FSU wins out. Then Alabama beats UGA in the SEC championship and Texas wins out. Who are the four teams?

Washington 13-0
Michigan or OSU 13-0
Florida State 13-0
Texas 12-1 with a win at Alabama
Alabama 12-1 and SEC champions
Georgia 12-1 and clearly one of the four best teams
Wash, B10, Texas, Bama

There's no way you can have a one loss Alabama over a one loss Texas. What's the point of even playing the games if you do that?
Well you can't have a one loss Georgia in over a one loss Alabama. So does the SEC sit out because Washington played Tulsa, Boise, and Michigan State as non-conference games?

I never said anything about Alabama's hypothetical resume v Washington, the OSU/M winner, or FSU. If you want to argue Alabama should get in over them, I'll listen.

I'm just saying that when two teams have similar resumes and one beat the other at their place, the team who won should absolutely get in over the team that lost. If that means no SEC champ - so be it.
My point was that it's not two teams, it's three teams. Sure if it was Texas vs. Alabama then head to head matters. But when you have Texas, Georgia, and Alabama in the mix then you can't eliminate Alabama from the mix because they lost to Texas and then use Georgia's loss to to Alabama to eliminate them.
I eliminate Georgia because they weren’t conference champs.

I don't eliminate the two time defending champ for losing a close championship game in the top dog conference.

It would be decided on the field for something this year.

Crystal ball:

Oregon takes care of business on Friday, beats Oregon State by double digits and it's not very close. Washington struggles to put Wazzou away, but wins another close one. Oregon extracts revenge against Washington in the Pac12 final and punch their ticket to the playoffs.

Ohio State beats Michigan. I think the distractions will prove too much and Ohio State has been getting better and better each week. The BigTen cancels the championship game as nobody needs to see Iowa in primetime, sparing viewers from suffering and agony.

Texas avoids the rematch with Oklahoma, breathes a sign of relief and then finds itself in a dogfight with Oklahoma State, who are coached by a man, and he's FORTY! This is where the crystal ball is a bit murky, but if I shake enough, I see the Cowboys squeaking by and we're reminded that Texas just can't have nice things right now.

Florida State blasts Florida with their backup QB, but they just can't get by Louisville in the ACC Championship game. Louisville also loses to Kentucky before the ACC Title Game because of course they do.

And because our lord god has a sick sense of humor, Alabama beats Georgia in a close one and Nick Saban stubs his victory cigar out on Kirby Smart's visor. Both teams make the playoffs.

Oregon vs Georgia in a rematch I never wanted after watching Georgia turn Oregon into their personal hand puppet last year. Georgia cruises.
Bama vs Ohio State where Saban's deal with the devil is extended an extra week. Bama advances.

Rematch Bama vs Georgia where Georgia turns the tables and it's 3 in a row for the boys from Athens. Saban retires to take the Chargers job. Beats Belichick and the Cowboys in the 2025 Super Bowl.

Yeah, no damn way Belichik goes to work for Jerry. Even less likely than him taking a college job and hitting the recruiting trail.

In your scenario above I don't think Oregon would match up with Georgia. It would be Ohio State 1, Oregon 2, Alabama 3, Georgia 4.

I know QBs dominate the Heisman, but it’s hard to picture anyone other than Harrison deserving the award.

What Nix and Penix has done is awesome too, but I think tOSU is a multi-loss team this year without him vs undefeated. Michigan looked vulnerable today and if tOSU wins next week, I’d find it harder to deny him as he’s gonna play a big role.

I just looked this up:

Troy Franklin of Oregon: 68 Rec/1,221 yards/13 TDs.
Marvin Harrison of OSU: 62 Rec/1,093 yards/13 TDs.

Malik Nabers with 80 for 1424.

Anyhow, I don't think Harrison has much of a case for Heisman because as you say, QBs dominate and there have been some great ones this year, but regardless, an argument can be made that he's not even the best WR in the country this year.

He is the best. Just needs a better QB to get him the ball.

If Bama loses title game are they out again with 2 losses? If Bama wins and OSU loses to Michigan is OSU out?

Daniels SHOULD win the Heisman, and Nabers Should win the Biletnikoff. I have no idea if they will, but they should.

Voters SHOULD knock Daniels for playing in the 4th quarter against Georgia State. That's BS stat padding right there. Nix has been removed from games once the outcome was certain. Voters need to take that into account.

Take away the second half stats and he's still way ahead. Hell, take the whole game out and hes still in the lead. IMHO, of course.

Daniels SHOULD win the Heisman
He probably will, but I don't really like the blatant stat padding. I guess that is not unique to Daniels though.
I wasn't a fan of him playing last week as much as he did either, but he was the best player in the country before that game.

He has 3 losses. That we know of. That matters.
He can't play defense very well, so he has 3 losses. If the award is for the best player without any other stuff, it's Daniels. That's not a knock on any other candidates.

Can you name a Heisman winner who played on a team with 3 losses? I did a quick look and didn't see one on there, but maybe it's happened before?

Ricky Williams won it in 1998 and Texas had 3 losses, so maybe Daniels will win it.

Neither Nabers nor Harrison should be in the conversation for Heisman, IMO. I was just surprised when I learned that Oregon's Troy Franklin has had as good a season as Harrison, but doesn't get near the love. Nabers is the best WR in the country just going by numbers.

It’ll be interesting - I’ve always thought there was a little something to the east coast bias and if the top 3 are Nix, Penix and Daniels I wonder if the first two cannabalize each other.

Harrison definitely has the name recognition but he passes the eye ball test (for me at least) as the best WR in the country.

I think he'll be the best pro WR for sure.

I think the ballots shouldn't be due until after the CFP. Most times the winner comes from that group. But I also think that there are players there that get an opportunity to shine and impress. Especially with the expansion starting next year, now there are more opportunities for players to add to their stats or film to enhance their opportunity to win the Heisman.

From @BenScottStevens on twitter:

The Iowa-Nebraska total opens at O/U 27.5 points.

This would match the lowest FBS total EVER, tying Iowa’s game vs. Rutgers two weeks ago.

This will be the 6th time in Iowa’s past 14 games the Over-Under is the lowest/ co-lowest FBS total ever.

All 5 prior games went Under.
Down to 26.5 in most places I think, supposedly 25.5 in some

He's a thousand yards and a few touchdowns ahead. I think that's a lot, but I'm not going to argue about what "way" means. He's had a better season as a QB.

Yes, he has rushing yards that other QBs in consideration do not. No question that his rushing yards and rushing TDs should elevate his chances at winning the Heisman.

However - Bo Nix is completing almost 78% of his passes. Read that again. That's astonishing. It's 10 percentage points above Daniels. It's a staggering achievement. Nix has 2 INTs on the season. Like.....5 sacks total? That's absurd! And, if he beats OSU, the Trophy is his. Sorry, but winning matters. And that's what Nix has done. Win.

I am in no way trying to disparage Nix. He's been awesome. You're an Oregon guy and I'm an LSU guy, so obviously we have our biases. Both have been great and both are deserving. Daniels is not remotely responsible for those losses. The fact that they have a chance to win 10 games with a defense ranked in the 100s is why Daniels is so impressive.

He completely dodged the question. It is a game. As adults who are grooming young men they should be able to hate each on the field l, but have respect for each other off of it.

If Daniels wins it, he earned it. No doubt about it. At least this year it's a conversation!

Actually I might change my tune here - Daniels is BK’s second ever QB to improve season over season. Yes, ever. For how much he entered ND with a “QB guru” tag, BK QBs regress; but Daniels didn’t.

Know who the first QB was? Tommy Rees.

Speaking of Rees...
Biggest surprise name on the list to me. The Rees who started the season is the one we know. Feels like Saban gave him a swift kick in the backside and then they went back to Milroe and his offensive playcalling totally changed. Good for him that he learned.

I was bummed for Al Golden to be left off that list of semifinalists. ND hasn’t had the greatest year, but man oh man he turned that defense around to be top 3 in efficiency this year. Shouldn’t win it, but he definitely should have made the list given others on there.

Even though Bo and Woody "hated" each other, they respected each other. They met mid field before the game to talk about her families and life. If one was doing a fundraiser, the other would appear. They knew each other's families. This complete disdain between Day and Harbaugh has extended to the players and the fans. It was a respectable rivalry, but now it feels like something more. I'm actually wondering how many fights will take place on Saturday. Not just in the field or in the tunnel, but in the stands, parking lots and streets. This one feels a lot heavier and more extreme than years past.

I'd be more concerned about this if the game were in Columbus.

"Social Media" Everybody runs their mouths on every topic that fuels hate. Not talking about this game in general but everything, every sport.

In D1 football and BB the "grooming" young men part of the sport is gone forever. Too much money to be made by both the players and coaches now. Think about it, at some schools a 10-2 or 9-3 record is considered a failure.

No loyalty anymore, instead of putting the work in and coaching a HC will bail on any player if they can get a transfer that might be better.

D2 and D3 might be better for the actually grooming the players to be fine young men in todays game.
