Nice season for Wyoming at 8-4. It’s been a minute.
Have you seen any projected bowl destinations for them?
New Mexico Bowl, Hawaii Bowl, and Camellia Bowl so far. Alabama seems like an unlikely destination for WY
Maryland won their epic showdown with designated "rival" Rutgers yesterday to get to 7-5. My guess is, if there's a bowl game at 3:00 p.m. om December 13th, they'll draw that one :lol:

Remember that conversation earlier in the week about if Texas A&M is a top-5 job and can win a title? Lol they just hired Kentucky’s coach.
The Aggies I know down here are really really upset. Most succinct statement was, “Fired a 7-5 SEC West coach for a 7-5 SEC East one…”
Stoops apparently turned them down lol

I wouldn't be surprised if Urban Meyer finds his way in there.
I would say Stoops made the right decision to stay. Why go to College Station and be subjected to those delusional fans?

Wisconsin, who is terrible at football and got absolutely demolished at home last weekend by Northwestern, has now qualified for a bowl game in 22 straight seasons - the longest current streak in the Big ten and third-longest overall behind Georgia (26) and Oklahoma (24).

Although Wisconsin continues to be terrible at football, by beating Minnesota yesterday and finishing 7-5 Bucky extended the current longest streak of wining seasons in P5 conference football teams to 22. Only Boise St. has a longer streak of winning seasons with 25 among FBS football schools in the country, although JMU may qualify this year, having just joined the FBS, and jump ahead of one or both. Among P5 conferences, Oklahoma St. is second with 18 and Alabama is third at 17 consecutive winning seasons.

And it was Luke Fickell who had Ohio State's last losing record in 20011

Seems like the entire thing was a catfish trying to get lulz now.

I’m not gonna go back and look, it was probably mentioned here, but in the first quarter of this morning’s game Ohio State was driving the ball, got to Michigan’s 40 with a 4th and 1, and elected to punt. It probably didn’t lose the game for them, but it struck me at the time as really conservative and I wonder if it didn’t set the tone for the entire game. Michigan was willing to take more chances.
Standard operating procedure from Ryan Day. Most teams just aren't talented enough to take advantage of his horrendous strategic coaching decisions.

It was a team effort loss.

** I wanted to give credit where credit was due. This was posted by Skunk Bear Blood (he's a Mod on Eleven Warriors) but I agree 100% with his take :

Not to mention the coaching & not so special teams

Our Buckeyes played and lost as a team.
Ryan Day wears the weaknesses on the OL and defense. His recruiting and developmental efforts aren't focused on those areas and what's played out in this game the last 3 years has been a result of that. The name on the jersey gets 4 and 5 stars anyway, which is good for double digit wins, but his team's keep falling short in big spots because of his weaknesses recruiting, culture building, and decision making gameday.

Zinter snapped both tibia and fibula. That absolutely sucks for him. Came back to be with the guys on the team.
I know only Michigan fans will care about this, but he left the field, straight to the hospital for surgery. Coach was there when they got there. Surgery went well...now on the road to recovery!

Nothing could be further from the truth for me, my brother and my son. The moment that happened we all three said some prayers as I did last night before my head hit the pillow. This game, like every other football game, is a mere distraction as we go through life. What matters most is how we treat each other. I'm 55 years old and the fact that a bunch of kids (man sized kids but still kids) are playing a game on a field is never lost on me. These kids have parents, siblings, grandparents, heck some even had kids of their own. When grown men root against kids, root for kids to be injured or fail it makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. I really detest that about sports above all else. I hope and pray he makes a full recovery and I hope and pray he's able to play in the NFL as he an extremely gifted player.

Iowa State wins Snowmaggedon

— Iowa State only ran two plays in Kansas State territory all night, while scoring 42 points, its second-highest scoring output of the season.
— Iowa State only ran 35 plays to Kansas State’s 102. The Wildcats compiled 32 first downs to Iowa State’s 10. Kansas State held the football for 42:12 compared to 17:48 by the Cyclones. Iowa State averaged 13.9 yards per play.
— Iowa State had five rushing plays for 50-plus yards, which tied a school record. True freshman Abu Sama - in his first career start - tallied 276 yards (fourth most in school history). Sama came the first player in Big 1 history to have two 70-plus yard rushing touchdowns in a game since Adrian Peterson in 2005.

Pretty good summary of where we're at. Current top four are in control of their own destiny.

Personally, I'd use conference champions as a tie breaker for the one-loss teams. I still believe, in its current state, conference champions should be rewarded. I don't care who has the "best loss" (dumbest talking point I've run across in a really long time)

The best moment that's ever happened in any football game I've ever watched. Devin Gardner is one of my most favorite football players of all time, his parents did an outstanding job. I'm not gonna lie, when he did that I cried like a baby, that took more guts than any play I've ever seen.

Another good one.

This was the final play in a playoff game here in Kansas.

Keep an eye on the O-lineman who pancaked a defensive player. The offense scores to win and the whole team rushes to the end zone.

Except that lineman. He immediately turns around and consoles that kid. The O-lineman’s name is Gus Hawkins. 4 star recruit going to Kansas State. What a great gesture of sportsmanship.

Rumors down here could really make this whole thing even funnier. Latest is that Stoops was a done deal, but boosters stepped in and veto’s the AD.

For our entertainment’s sake I hope that’s true. It fits too well with what’s happened thus far that the folks footing the $76M would feel like they have some say in who they’re expected to pay next. What a disaster lol.

He has his sights set higher than top 25 and the Michigan State job gives him that opportunity better than the Oregon State job.
Only because the Pac dissolved. Oregon State lost some brutally close games (not the ducks game) and could easily be top 10 now. They could have built off that and made the playoff next year for sure. Not sure Mich State will make the playoff anytime soon.

But yes, given the scenario (of all the stupid pac teams leaving), mich state gives him a better opportunity now perhaps.

We just don't see things the same way and that's okay.
Just saying Michigan State isn't gonna be winning a national championship any time in the next decade (obviously neither is Oregon State). So what exactly is his sights being "higher than top 25" mean?

Is it top 10? He was there this year with Oregon State. Is it the playoff? I feel he would have had a better shot at making a college playoff at Oregon State next year (had the Pac not dissolved) than at Michigan State.

Mich state does prob give him a better shot at a national championship, but it's like 0.1 percent vs 1 percent.

I really think he would have stayed if none of this happened with the Pac. He had just re-signed until 2029 and the program had been turned around.

It’s such a great story.

Really like Oregon but -9.5 is a lot. Think I'd have to go 50% on Wash +9.5 and 50% on Wash +10 buying the hook.
I'd bet the Ducks to cover that by a mile. Wash is done, they're not the same team they were earlier in the year.

First 6 games:
Win by 33 vs an unranked team
Win by 37 vs an unranked team
Win by 34 vs an unranked team
Win by 27 vs an unranked team
Win by 7 vs #21 Arizona
Win by 3 vs #6 Oregon

Final 6 games:
Win by 8, vs an unranked team
Win by 9, vs an unranked team
Win by 10, vs an unranked team
Win by 7, vs an unranked team
Win by 2, vs #10 Oregon State
Win by 3, vs an unranked team.

They just don't have it anymore. A massive difference since that first Ducks/Huskies game. Ducks by a lot.

Here is Washington's schedule with each team's current FPI ranking:

Boise State (49)
Tulsa (115)
@Michigan State (80)
Cal (47)
@Arizona (23)
Oregon (3)
Arizona State (96)
@Stanford (105)
@USC (21)
Utah (25)
@Oregon State (18)
Washington State (52)
Oregon (3)

Margin of victory against teams in FPI top 25, in order: 7, 3, 10, 7, 2. Looks reasonably consistent.

Basically, they opened with 4 easy games and cruised in those. Then they had a stretch of 7 games that included 5 tough opponents, with 4 of those 7 games on the road, including 3 of the games against tough opponents. They won all of them. Then they finished with their rivalry game and won it.

You could be right that Oregon will win by a lot, but nothing you posted here provides any real substantiation of that belief.

Well then maybe they were only crushing those teams early because they all sucked. Either way, I think they're overrated. They should have made a statement and crushed WSU this weekend, at home (like the ducks did)... they barely got by. They have barely scraped by since playing those easy teams early in the season.

Stupid Ducks by 20.

I think almost everyone and I have to think everyone here at FFA is rooting for this young man! I know there are lunatics in every fan base but I do believe they are the exceptions.

I hate to see anyone hurt and trust he has a 100% recovery and a great career.

When it happened and they were carting him off, I told our crowd of Buckeye fans at my house that I bet Harbaugh will be at the hospital asap.

I actually thought The Game would be a lot more chippier than it was. Seems the players handled themselves well.

He actually autographed that picture/moment for me. Hanging on my wall right now.

This is the first Herbie game Ive seen this year. I thought he had moved to NFL and just doing Game Day. Whats the best game thats been on ABC/ESPN this year?
Don't think he'll ever give up cfb, seems to enjoy it a little.

He's talking here about his dog that goes on the road with him.

Major disservice to us all putting him on wherever he's been all year. I really thought he had moved on from CFB commentary. He's one of my favorites.

Seems like what I typed didn't come across appropriately. I didn't mean you guys don't care about kids. I just meant it was likely only going to be an active concern for those of us who follow the team. Apologies abound from The Commish.

He still gets all the big games wherever the gameday show is. Him and Fowler are a good team. Maybe being prime time Saturday night is why you missed him?

I think it's rhat rarely did I watch ABC primetime games this year. Looking back at the schedule, they were pretty bad.

Lebby to Miss State. I can't say that I know enough about him to be excited or not. Always has a high powered offense. Seems like we could do worse, not sure who would have been better for us?

A lot of this is the Baylor baggage but I can tell you OU fans are not sad to see him go. To me he doesn’t seem like he’s ready for everything that comes with running a big program. He stupidly brought Art Briles onto the field after a game this year and the way he handled the blowback makes me think he has zero remorse for anything that happened at Baylor and he’s going to be super annoyed with the media as a head coach

About 10% of our fanbase has this concern too. And honestly I didn't pay enough attention to the Baylor scandal's when it happened to know Lebbys role in it. Seems like there is enough second chances with these things nowadays that its just not a big deal anymore. Freeze, Petrino, etc. Not that those are the same type scandals, but the point remains. Lebby has been hired by major programs so he's obviously been vetted by them.

Obviously OU and Miss State are worlds away as far as programs are so our hands are kind of tied here. We have to take a chance on someone like this. We're not pulling a sitting head coach from a respectable program right now. Leach was our one exception, but he had his own baggage. We're sort of forced to take these chances on these up and coming coordinators. Mullen worked out great, Moorhead failed spectacularly and Arnett just wasn't ready.

Honestly, it sucks to be us, but he seems to be the best fit for us right now. I hope he coaches like Kiffen and hits the portal. I think he will.

NC State coach Dave Doeren calls for fans to donate to @SavageWolvesNIL @packofwolvesnil. Asks for 5,000 fans to donate $1,000 apiece so we can "recruit, retain and develop." Calls coming week "maybe the worst week in college football" with portal opening.

Credit coach Doeren and a handful of others for not sugar-coating the current state of college football.

Mandel commented on this tweet. I think he was focused on the system being broken here and didn't mean to make this seem critical of Doeren, but it can be interpreted that way.

Stewart Mandel
@slmandel

Dave Doeren makes $5 million, and he's begging fans to donate their entire paychecks to an NIL collective.The model is so, so broken.

To be clear, coaches are not allowed to contribute to NIL. And Doeren didn't ask fans to contribute "their entire paychecks."

Also, Doeren and his wife just donated $1.25M to the university earlier this year to support students with particular challenges.

Not a fan of how Mandel handled this tweet.

Here is a more comprehensive version of Dave's comments:

"For all you folks that want us to keep winning, I would tell you to get on Savage Wolves, find that link," Doeren said.

"I’d love to see 5,000 people donate $1,000 to our NIL and get us to a point where we can recruit, retain and develop and have a program in the NIL world where the guys on our roster are able to benefit from that."

Doeren, echoing what many other coaches have been saying, claimed that there is "illegal crap going on in recruiting. People trying to poach our players."

"I think in this space right now, there’s a lot of bad stuff happening, there needs to be a financial commitment from our fan base to Savage Wolves and Pack of Wolves and our NIL deal so we can take care of these kids that play so hard for us," Doeren said.

Ohio State at 6. They can’t really move up since they aren’t playing so they are screwed. Texas and Bama behind them can and will jump them with another win.

Looks like (if they all win) it’ll be Georgia, Michigan, Pac, FSU. PAC is definitely getting the winner in, Michigan should trounce Iowa so the only drama will be if Georgia and/or FSU lose.
