I would like to know more about Colorado bolting, is that directly due to Deion Sanders being hired as the Head Coach?
I would think so but maybe they were heading out of the Pac-12 anyways?

Colorado left the Big12 because they were afraid that it was going to implode....that Texas and other schools were going to join the Pac12, ironically. So they left. And, they have sucked donkey nuts the entire time. They have had ONE season above .500 since they joined. That's embarrassing.

So now, here comes Prime, in his cowboy hat, to the rescue. I think he'll be a disaster, but at least he's interesting. And before we can watch another 1-2 win season, the buzz is alive and with it, you strike while the iron is hot. Play this season out and the Big12 might have second thoughts about taking the Buffs back. I'm not kidding when I say they might have been the worst team in NCAA football in the modern era in 2022.

I think there's going to be some blockbuster announcements coming soon....like, Oregon to the Big Ten, Washington State to the Big 12 kinda whacky stuff.

Yeah Oregon and Washington have to be working as hard as they can to get a prom date before everyone is spoken for.
Oregon is not going to get left out as they are a major brand name. I think the Big Ten is likely destination for them and Washington. Colorado is likely the necessary domino to fall first IMO.

I can’t believe those two weren’t in as part of the USC/UCLA move.
Word was the BIG didn’t want them. I don’t know what the truth is or not but I wouldn’t assume there is an invite sitting there.
I heard the Big 10 didn't want to have blood on its hands by taking Oregon and Washington so with Colorado leaving that opens the door for AZ, ASU, Utah to bolt to Big 12 and then Oregon and Washington more likely than not getting invited to Big 10. Should be intetesting.
I'm rather confident if Oregon and Washington were going to make the B1G any meaningful amount of cash, they'd likely not really care about "blood on their hands". If they aren't going to bring something new/different to the BTAA and/or new ability to negotiate TV deals, the B1G isn't interested.
Oregon and Washington have already been vetted by the Big 10. Oregon gets more viewers than USC or UCLA and the majority of the Big 10 teams so that is not an issue for media deals.

Not last season necessarily (I’ve seen conflicting numbers). But yeah, Oregon is a big draw. That said, I think that will take a hit starting in 2024 if they don’t announce a move here pretty soon.

Pretty sure Colorado is bolting because they are not liking what they are seeing/hearing about the new Pac media rights $. If everything looked great, they would be staying.

They are rats leaving a sinking ship. Precisely why they joined the Pac12 to begin with.....

Don't disagree with that part, but it wouldn't be a sinking ship if the new media rights numbers (dollars and years) looked great for the remaining schools. But why would a media company offer big dollars now that USC and UCLA are leaving? Chicken or the egg.

Speaking of Oregon, they outbid absolutely nobody in giving Dan Lanning a huge raise and a guaranteed contract.

That's the problem - I don't think there is a media deal forthcoming; least, not an attractive one and certainly not one that will rival the Big12. You can't fault Colorado for going after the more attractive option but it really feels like getting dumped by a girl with a weight problem, an issue with substance abuse and a singular tooth to brush.

It's what we do, Cappy. And really, after being abandoned by Chip Kelly, Willie Taggert and Mario Cristobal, can you fault the Ducks for being so clingy? I mean, we really only find joy in two things - winning Duck games and watching the other coaches fail. We aren't well.

It's not about how many watch the teams, it's about the markets the B1G can charge for the product....(sheer volume of people in the market). For example, few watch Rutgers, but those that DO are in huge markets like NYC and that kind of volume of people gives the B1G leverage. The B1G will almost always choose a market with 10M people and 1M ardent viewers of the team over a 2M person market with 2M ardent viewers.

Not so poor no more.....the loss last season where the Beavers threw 6 forward passes was a nice touch.
Yea that was pretty frickin awesome....... unfortunately, if the Pac disolves and we are left holding the bag, we probly won't be able to keep Smith around.....money won't be there.....even though he wants to stay in Corvallis

Colorado is moving the to Big 12 for the same reason every school does everything in college football - money.

I grew up a Duck fan going to games in the 80s when they were horrid. I remember how exciting it was when they actially made a bowl game like the Independance Bowl or Freedom Bowl. Most of my friends and fellow fans are also lifelong fans but I know we have some bandwagon fans.

I’m a USC fan but didn’t go there. I applied and was accepted, but my father refused to let me go due to cost. (I ended up going to a school with no football team and virtually no sports.) I swore I would never do that to my kid. And now here I am 30+ years later spending my retirement savings to send my kid there. As a USC parent, I figure I’ve paid for the right to be a fan!

My wife and are OSU alum......my dad went there. Her mom went there. Her G pa was a professor there......almost our entire fam is OSU......there is an odd black sheep who is a duck like my wife's uncle......he has season Tix to football and threatened to get rid of em hwne they lost to ARZ when Mariota was there....LOL.

I have respect for duck fans who've been there before they got popular........the bandwagon is pretty insufferable though

I'm definitely guilty of it - went to a tiny D3 school in Mississippi so I'm "that guy". But I LOVE college football, never really had a team and when my buddy talked me into season tickets 20+ years ago, I jumped at the chance.

But, now I have two kids there so I feel a little better about it. I also root for Oregon State when they aren't playing the Ducks and am happy for their recent success. Love J Smith. Love that whole storyline.

I vividly remember thinking that the Colorado/Air Force game last year was the worst thing I’d ever seen. Pouring rain, 6 turnovers, 6 total completed passes. :towelwave:

I've been to a game like that where the rain comes down so hard cell phones get destroyed. Cal vs Oregon in Eugene. Jared Goff couldn't gather a snap. It was awful. I think I made it a half and just bailed to drink beer indoors. I couldn't get body temp warm for like a week afterwards.

Fight On!

Excited to see Colorado back in the big 12 playing traditional rivals like Oklahoma and Nebraska!
As a Nebraska fan I would giggle my *** off for days if Nebraska somehow ended up back in the Big 12. It would be fun watching people try to spin it as "the best move".

Can they just have a one time Cal vs. stanfurd Rose Bowl Big Game and then just disband the football programs at both schools? Or at go to an Ivy League thing with no scholarships?

Did you write this?

That dude is delusional. Colorado left for the money. And getting a sweet tv deal when they have 2-3 teams in the top 10 at mid season? Let’s assume for the sake of argument there are 2-3 PAC-12 teams in the top 10 at mid-season. Is one of those teams USC? Yeah, that’s not going to help.

But, now I have two kids there so I feel a little better about it. I also root for Oregon State when they aren't playing the Ducks and am happy for their recent success. Love J Smith. Love that whole storyline.

Native Oregonian who also went to a tiny college with barely any sports. I grew up rooting for both state schools, and usually for the underdog in the Civil War. My Dad went to his first Ducks home game the year after Autzen was built. I got to take him to his second Ducks home game in the Marriota Heisman season when they beat UW in a fun game. He didn't say a word the whole game, just took it all in and then chattered like a kid the entire drive home.

I have friends who are alums of either school. My son starts at OSU this fall. I'm one of the weirdos I guess, but I'll always root for both the Ducks and the Beavs.

Speaking of Oregon, they outbid absolutely nobody in giving Dan Lanning a huge raise and a guaranteed contract.
F#ck the ducks
F#ck USC
F#ck UCLA
F#ck the buffs
F#ck Larry Scott

Poor Beaver fan lol
Don't feel bad for me.......unlike duck fans, I actually went to the school I root for.......and I'll stick with em no matter what. Most duck fans I know have only been around since mariota or so

Agreed. I don't have any hatred towards Beaver fans. I will always root for them out of conference and many conference games. In my experience this is not the case for Beaver fans, they can't stand Oregon AKA like Manster. I feel that way against Washington, Oregon State is like a little brother.

I would like to know more about Colorado bolting, is that directly due to Deion Sanders being hired as the Head Coach?
I would think so but maybe they were heading out of the Pac-12 anyways?
Did you write this?

That dude is delusional. Colorado left for the money. And getting a sweet tv deal when they have 2-3 teams in the top 10 at mid season? Let’s assume for the sake of argument there are 2-3 PAC-12 teams in the top 10 at mid-season. Is one of those teams USC? Yeah, that’s not going to help.
Well, considering this was reposted by an account called “Message Board Geniuses”, it’s pretty much on brand for them to post this. 🤣
