Well, Michigan was resilient once again. McCarthy was classy giving props to OSU as a tough opponent, seems like a good kid.

Day was walking slow and his head was hanging low in the tunnel as Michigan has taken over the rivalry. Day letting clock run out in first half instead of being aggressive helped Michigan. Day got outcoached by a Michigan assistant. Time to cut bait.

Those 2 announcers drove me crazy today. Almost ruined the game for me.

Mount Union gave up 24 points in the 4th Qtr and just like that their season is over, losing 24-20 to Alma.
Alma will play Cortland in the quarterfinal, who beat Grove City 25-24 on a 2 point conversion with 1:23 to play.

Absolute ****ing ****. I've been trying to process this all day and it just hurts more and more the more I think about it.

I don't blame him for not wanting to go down on the sinking ship that will be Beavers football, but I do hate him for it. This solidifies that the Big 12 isn't picking us up, and that our program is heading downhill fast. I can't imagine wanting to be a part of that and losing ALL your recruiting power if you're the head coach.

Absolutely sucks. He was a legend here and should have stayed for his whole career. We are done. Beavers football is done. College football is dead to me.

I mean a lot of this might be true but I question whether the big 12 cares who your coach is. Hadn't even heard of the guy till two hours ago.

If it was that simple just go hire Jimbo Fisher. Hear he's free.

I feel awful for Oregon State. This was THEIR guy. This just sucks.

Interesting. Other than a pay raise why would he want that job as it is a mess? BIG is only getting tougher.
Because OSU got left in the dust and is going to be in a crap conference that top players aren't going to want to play in. He's an amazing recruiter, but just lost the majority of his recruitment power and it seems we are heading downwards so he jumped ship.

Then you must not follow college football much. I know I'm biased as a fan, but he had definitely made a name for himself on the national level, turning a really bad team/program into back to back top 25 seasons.

Other coaches aren't going to be jumping at the chance to coach a team that doesn't have a conference or any recruiting power.

Looks like he jumped to another sinking ship, but a sinking ship that pays more is a good thing. Tucker left MSU a mess.

I like Gus at times, other times not so much. Save the yelling for actual big plays. "Blake The great bounces off a tackle, skirts the end what a run..for a pickup of 2 yards" The other guy did not care for.

This was one of those games where they needed to take a breath and let the action talk once in awhile.

Gus is awful. Romoesque.

But he's great at turning around messes into successes. Don't think it was a money thing. It's still a big named school he can get recruits to.

That obviously plays a part, but Oregon State likely would have given him every dollar they had available if he wanted to stay. Not sure the money differential in the contracts, we'll have to see. I think it was more a move of "This Oregon state program is crashing down so hard, I won't be able to recruit anyone, our team will suck and be in a bad conference and I'll be stuck there for years.... Or I can go to a huge named school in a big division and try to turn that around and if I do, I'll be able to recruit better there"

You must be unaware of how bad MSU is with money. Pretty confident OSU doesn't have "stupid money" to throw at him.

We don't.

All I'm saying, is that I'd be SHOCKED if he left for MSU (even with them offering more money), if the Pac 12 wasn't dissolving or if we were headed to a big conference.

He's from Detroit so I want to give him a pass but I can't. And my friend worked with him for an ad campaign where they wanted him to slightly poke fun at how over the top he is and he got angry about it.

He will have more resources, money and prestige at Michigan State to work with than he would ever have at Oregon State. Even if the Pac12 didn't implode, he was going to leave. It sucks, but it's just the way it is. The Oregon schools are stepping stones. Both of them.
