(to answer your question @Yenrub up thread they said that Namath already gave that permission though I don't think there is anything from Rodgers about if he would demand #12 at this time)

Florio put this out - supposedly the Packers could be willing to wait until draft day to make the trade. Guess we'll find out if that just more posturing or whatever tomorrow.
I don’t see how people are missing that the Packers don’t want Rodgers. The GM all but said it directly in his last interview. They’ll be just as glad as the Jets when this is over.

The Packers fans don't want him any more either.

Right but that doesn't mean Green Bay won't try and time it to maximize the little leverage they have. Making the Jets wait gums things up a little bit for them in terms of their plans. But really Green Bay just need to rip the band-aid off.

Just a reason this silliness could drag on a little more.

No doubt a lot of gamesmanship going on. GB is probably waiting for every FA QB to be signed away and force the Jets' hand in giving up as much compensation as possible. The Jets know that Rodgers isn't wanted and the Packers know that the Jets don't want Zach to be their starter.

I think the deal is already agreed upon. If GB then tried to screw the Jets and ask for more now, JD should walk away until Gunterkirst says "just kidding, you can have him",

Once again, I'm not sure why anyone thinks GB wants anything other than to get rid of this guy. Neither side has leverage because both sides want the same thing.

if this is the hold up - JD please call their bluff and move on ASAP.

SPN's Adam Schefter reports the Packers could be requesting "multiple" first round draft picks from the Jets in exchange for Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers, per Schefter, believe Rodgers should fetch a similar deal that the Lions got when they traded Matthew Stafford to the Rams in 2021 (Detroit received Jared Goff and two first rounders). It would indeed be a steep price for a 39-year-old quarterback who regularly talks about retirement and has tormented the Packers and their fans for years with indecision on whether to continue his fading career. "The Jets have to figure out what they're willing to pay," Schefter said, adding he "wouldn't be surprised" if Rodgers announces his trade to the Jets this afternoon on his friend's internet talk show.

If they really want multiple firsts for Rodgers, rescind the offer to Lazard and start looking into Lamar Jackson.

I think most of these stories are BS and the media just spinning it's wheels and creating stories to keep the frenzy going - this is the biggest story for ESPN and NFL Network and they're milking it.

The Season Ticket Holders in this thread need to be sure to save up a few vacation days cuz def more Jets games at night once this goes through. Getting home to LI at 2am ain't very compatible with work hours.

So Rodgers made his decision last week and wasn't holding things up. Says the thought of giving a list of players he wants is so ridiculous.

Wow, what a diva. Lol, so many Jets fans melted down this week about Rodgers believing people that had no clue.

So whats the end game here? Rodgers wants to be a Jet...Jets want Rodgers. Green Bay obviously wants more than JD wants to give.....how long does this drag out? Technically it could go on to draft day...or even longer. However I think this appearance puts a lot of pressure on GB. Rodgers basically said Ive been a legend for your organization - do me right and let me go. Now that its out hes going to keep putting pressure on them to make a deal.

He also said he needed to workout for a week to make sure he still wanted to play and had the passion for it. Fully expecting another circus next offseason with the possible need to [again] find a QB. But hey, at least he's got his love and gratitude.

I think the Packers dig in. Pretty sure most people understand Rodgers is full of it. This is one side. The teams talk and understand the situation. The Packers have their eyes set on the 2024 season. They will take next year to develop Love and eat the cap hit from Rodgers. Meanwhile the Jets need to integrate a new qb, a new offensive system and a new player caller. They may only get 1 year out of Rodgers, who just said 4 weeks ago he was 90% sure he was going to retire, in a very loaded division and conference. They have more impetus to make it happen and mortgage the future for the now. The only deadline for the Packers is the draft. If it doesn't happen by then, they'll gladly take a few 2026 picks.

Took a look back at the Favre trade - he was traded to the Jets on August 7th and he still had them in line for playoffs before getting hurt. This situation may even be better as Favre had all new coaches and players - Rodgers has literally the same OC/offense that he knows inside and out - plus his safety net WR. This would be an even easier transition plus ZW would get the 1st team reps in offseason (which Rodgers doesnt need) so they can further "develop" him as they are obsessed on.

What does this mean - well based on history I can see JD dragging this out until summer if GB digs in. Is it worth giving up 4 cheap yrs of #13 overall (assuming thats what they want) to have Rodgers in the building a few months early? I think JD at least holds firm past the draft and makes GB take picks in 2024 where it would be much worse pick.

In my mindset im stopping the refresh and putting my faith in the GM who has crushed every trade so far - he may be spotty in FAs and few old drafts but the guy knows how to trade.

Yep - I don't see why the Packers, who clearly do not want Rodgers, think they have the leverage here. **** them - let them hold on to Rodgers until after the draft.

Worst case scenario is Wilson gets more reps as the backup QB - that's not a bad thing.

Who knows maybe JD will decide to go after Tannehill or look in another direction. Then what Green Bay?

April 17 is when off season workouts begin - if its not done by then I could see A-Rod showing up and bringing an absolute horde of media distraction with him.

Does any recall a situation like this before? Where s player essentially comes out and says Im only playing for one specific team before a trade is made and the teams were in a stale mate for weeks? Only similar situation I can recall - showing my age - is when Parcells announced he was going to the Jets but they had to work out compensation. He was hired as a "consultant" with Belichick as the HC - complete mess until the commish eventually brokered a deal- could history repeat?

It is quite weird. No idea how it's gonna shake out. I assume the packers want picks for this year but maybe they don't care.

Struggling to find a comparable in football. The only similar stubbornness to the Packers I can see is Mike Brown having to be arm twisted by the rest of the front office to take the bounty of picks the Raiders offered for quitter Carson Palmer when he wanted to just let Palmer rot at home lol.

I really think the Jets should start to explore other options (I realize they're not very exciting) - not only to call GB's bluff a bit, but to have some semblance of a "Plan B" at least.
Agreed - I dont see the downside in bringing in Lamar for a visit - if GB really wants a 1st and more than why not take a swing on much younger former MVP.

I know the other options for the Jets are unexciting - but GB literally has no other options or else its a disaster - I would definitely start the QB tour to put pressure on. At least bring in Wentz to kick the tires and show there are other options

The closest situation was when Eli was drafted and said NO to San Diego and then traded to NYG. A Player holding the Team Hostage scenario ...

I would have liked to see Jameis Winston go to NYJ! That would show Rodgers his "net". Sad he resigned in NOS with Carr QB1

Thats true - from what I read the Chargers picked him with no trade in place with the Giants and it all came together between picks 2 and Giants pick.

If this makes it to the draft its going to be exhausting - and I still think the commish gets involved if its still kicking when the schedule is released - they cant risk 5 prime time Jets games with Carson Wentz!

The Missouri Compromise is the only close situation I can remember.

I completely understand the point to explore alternatives in order to call GB's bluff, but with the exception of Lamar, I have a hard time imagining any of them feeling credible.
Lamar is credible but the challenge is you have to build the team around his skill set, pay tippy top $$$/compensation, and likely get the deal matched by the Ravens.

I wonder if the parties (particularly the Jets), are thinking....

1) let time pass will to allow emotions to settle along with the expected compensations (on each side).

2) Wait until during the draft to facilitate the trade. As of now the Jets don't want to trade pick 13. Maybe depending on Jets/Packers draft rankings and the live board - Jets will consider either drafting at #13, potentially trade down to acquire trade compensation, flop 13 <->15 plus other compensation, etc. The Jets obviously were thrilled with how the 2022 draft went, I imagine they don't want to be stuck with little draft capital / flexibility heading into the 2023 draft.

3) wait until after the draft. Jets loose leverage but go into the 2023 season without giving up any draft capital. While the leverage returns to the Packers, if the Jets are confident they are the only game in town, they don't need to negotiate against themselves.

So apparently we signed Mecole Hardman? Can't say I understand that one. He's really fast but quite terrible. And the WR room is already crowded.

Seems to indicate that green bay is taking back a WR in the Rodgers deal. Really hope it's not Moore but that wouldn't shock me (given what happened last year)

interesting signing - lots of speed. Not exactly great WR but a weapon.

No chance both Davis and Elijah are back - im hoping Davis is part of trade or cut and Elijah stays as well but can definitely see him in a deal.

Well there goes Elijah - not a huge fan of this one - tea leaves showing the Rodgers deal could be a 2d so this replaces it - using the trade value chart that move up is equivalent to a high 3rd rder...thought he had more value than that on a rookie contract. He obviously didnt want to be here and the Hardman move sealed it

Sources: The #Browns are trading for #Jets speedy WR Elijah Moore. A new threat in Cleveland. Terms: It’s pick No. 42 for Moore and pick 74.

Despite Moore falling way out of favor, I would have thought his talent alone would be worth more than 32 picks to a move up to the 2nd round.

I liked Elijah but something was clearly off with him/the staff. He probably didn't do his value any favors with his comments last year. That said he'll probably thrive in CLE - he's too good not to.

So much for JD's fleece streak - its clear he sold low on Elijah. Obviously a bigger plan which may include more ammo for Rodgers or OBJ taking his place...

Looking at JD's 1st two drafts now is a train wreck - he really needed that 2022 bonanza.
