2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (5 Viewers)

Still talking about us lol. Never have I heard from a single player "Man maybe we shouldn't have used a backup tight end to block Reddick"
Still, I love the fact that the Niners, without a proven QB, have better odds of winning the NFC than the Cowboys.

I said in another thread that the Niners could be one of the teams that miss the playoffs this season. Their non-divisional games are going to be tough with a good QB (DAL, NYG, BAL, CIN, @PHI, @MIN @Jax).
i have a pending bet with Seattle winning the division. i like that they are still under the radar

DISCLAIMER: My opinions are subject to change as we get closer to the season.

Schedule rumors/leaks have started!

Eagles playing @ NYG in the debut Amazon Prime Black Friday game has some steam.

PHI@KC week 2 according to Jason and Travis Kelce’s mom. 🤔 If true, it’s probably a SNF game. Royals have a 1pm home game that Sunday and there’s a Beyoncé concert on Monday.
Away W2 would also likely mean we open at home W1. Maybe vs. SF??
Would be nice to start the season that way haha. 2 rematches, one we want, the other I guess the Niners really want badly. Of course if Purdy isn't ready, we might here the same chorus again that we heard last year when we stomped em.

Exactly the bolded. I want them fully healthy. Of course with the way they run through QBs, you never know when they'll have a healthy one. I mean, they started the NFCCG with their starter healthy but we see how that ended - with SF unable to keep him in the game, again.

With the lame new rules I expect the Eagles to have 2 Thursday games and a bunch of prime time, which makes me sad. I really love my 1pm Sunday games.

As someone who doesn't live in/near Philly anymore, and doesn't wanna pay out the nose for Sunday Ticket...bring on ALL the prime time games! Thursday/Monday/Saturday/Sunday night...whatever, the more the better ;)

Week 13 (Sunday, December 3) - San Francisco 49ers @ Philadelphia Eagles

Bold Prediction - The 49ers starting QB week 13 will be Sam Darnold. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Sam is the week 1 starter either.

I hate Sunday 1pm games. Too many other games going on, so much harder to just zone in and focus on our game.

I'm the same way with the Bulls. It was great when WGN America had games. At least Friday and Saturday if they were home I knew I could watch along with TNT and ESPN or NBATV. I'll then watch on the local Philly channel when they play the Sixers and try to sync it with my XM Radio of the Bulls broadcast Unless I can get good seats for the game in Philly I'll just stay home. It's gotten super expensive to just have 2 people go there days. I just don't have the time anymore to really pay for something I might watch now if they have a west coast trip now with work and a girlfriend to juggle who wants to constantly do stuff with me. Football season comes around at least I know she'll watch the Eagles games with me.

Also getting older I'm trying to cut cost down on stuff because I'm realizing I don't have the time I use to for some of this stuff. Either way I understand where you are coming from. I give props to anyone cheering for a team outside of where they live that isn't local and doing what they can to watch..

As someone who likes to drink during the games I would much rather have them on at night

Surprised I'm in the minority for game time. I pretty much only watch Eagles games these days, since the NFL on TV as a whole is a bad product anymore, but I'll always be an Eagles fan. Can relax on Sunday afternoon, watch the game, yell at the TV (probably) and then still have the rest of my day. I do get the reasoning for those out of market, never considered that.

I think a lot of people watch many other games, or at least follow them because fantasy football is so big. I like my early time slot to be channel flipping, fantasy stat watching, etc. Love when the Eagles game is the ONLY game on.

Yeah same here. I watch every Eagles game first and foremost. Have been buying Sunday Ticket a la carte since the Pandemic forced me outta the bars. The wife actually likes this aspect of it and now with a baby and all, its probably a long ways until I can go to a bar and drink all morning at a bar

I will definitely flick back and forth once the Eagles game is over/done with. So many apps/etc to be able to check on games/statuses these days I can safely watch my Birds and worry about the rest as background noise.

aren't the Eagles due for Hard Knocks or one of the NFL shows off the field? i thought i read a year ago or something that they were going to be on one of the shows in this year or next as an obligation.

I think the rule is if you were in the playoffs the year before, you don't get on Hard Knocks.

Bruh!

Kyle Shanahan: “I am glad we’re not playing Philly Week 1. I want to play them at a better time. I want to make sure our whole team is right there. ... We feel like we didn’t get to do it last time.”

The irony of this is that in 3 of the last 5 seasons the 49ers were on their backup QB by week 13.

For some reason, Niners players and fans forget that they came into the NFCCG with their starting QB. But as like most of the season, they were unable to keep him upright. Sounds like a San Fran problem.

Also, they were already trailing when Purdy went down.

They really are hyping themselves up for this one lol, to travel all that way to the east coast to get an L

Maybe instead of drafting a kicker in round 3 they should have drafted a guy that can block Reddick instead of their backup tight end 😏

Sure but dude, when you have the chance to draft *the* best kicker in the draft you gotta do it right? Just don't ask him to kick from beyond 40 yards.

:lmao:

This schedule sucks for a million reasons, including a few personal ones:
  • Open on the road (on Tom Brady night, of all nights)
  • Play our first 2 games of the season 4 days apart (when most players are still getting into shape, plus we have a new OC and DC)
  • Home opener is on a Thursday night
  • It's a 9 road game year for NFC
  • Only 3 home games in the first 2 months, before the weather starts to get cold
  • 5 Primetime games
  • Christmas afternoon home game (some of us season ticket holders with young kids will have to skip)
  • None of the NE/TB/DAL road games are anywhere close to when I could have coordinated work trips around them when I can go to Boston, Tampa, and Dallas this fall and winter
About the only positives are the W10 bye (which really is only good because of when it comes before a really tough stretch of the schedule) and maybe the last 4 match-ups for the stretch run.

Also too bad our one easy game (arizona) is the final week of the season where we MAY be resting starters. Would rather face them earlier for sure. The W11 MNF is going to be nuts. We are coming off a Bye, so hopefully we use all 2 weeks to prepare hard for KC.

Things I love about this schedule.

First 3 weeks of the season i shouldn’t have to worry about watching it at work.

13 games 4pm or later which is great with my work schedule

My one manager will be miserable on Xmas being a Giants fan

Might be a good chance I go to Sea if everything works out for that game.

Most of these games are really good times home wise I can take my GF to her first Eagles game if I can afford tickets.

We get KC and Buff right after the bye plus Dal right before

There’s a good chance I could go see the Jets game if my soccer club has their event in NYC again around that time

we get home games Vs Tua and Josh Allen.

NYE we get to ruin Gannons new year

Haha at least we won't hear any "Easiest schedule in NFL history" again

I don't recall having a tougher stretch than this, ever

lots of potential losses
i see like 8 games that could go either way. no way we win them all. throw in another couple games that come out of no where to be losses and we wont get that number 1 seed this year.
But focus on division games and get that one home playoff game and see what happens. thankfully we are still the class of the division.

My way too early predictions:

W1: @ NE - WIN (Mediocre - They won't be able to score with us)
W2: MIN (TNF) - WIN (I know short week, but MIN is on one too, and they have Kirk Cousins prime time jinx)
W3: @ TB (MNF) - WIN (No QB)
W4: WSH - WIN (No QB)
W5: @ LAR - WIN (Totally depleted roster, they might win 6 games this year)
W6: @ NYJ - LOSS (Not scared of Rodgers but this is the first 50/50 game IMO)
W7: MIA (SNF) - WIN (Tua will be in concussion protocol by this game)
W8: @ WSH - WIN (No QB)
W9: DAL - LOSS (Feel like the Eagles will have a cushion by week 9 in the division and be looking ahead to the bye)
W10: BYE
W11: @ KC (MNF) - LOSS (Andy Reid off a bye, not good even though we have revenge on our minds)
W12: BUF - LOSS (Think Buffalo will be on a mission this season)
W13: SF - WIN (No QB, McCaffrey will be banged up, he was too healthy last season, regression to the norm)
W14: @ DAL (SNF?) - WIN (We'll split with Dallas, so if the first meeting is a win this is a loss and vice versa)
W15: @ SEA - LOSS (Tough place to play even if I think Geno Smith is a one-year wonder)
W16: NYG (Xmas Monday) - WIN (Giants stink, they're not making the playoffs and will be all but out of it by now)
W17: ARI (NYE) - WIN (Sirianni will want this game against Gannon)
W18: @ NYG -WIN (Giants stink, I can't emphasize that enough)

12-5 (We break the NFC East repeat champion curse, not sure about the seeding, think there could be more parity in the NFC this year, 4 losses could get you the #1 seed)
