2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (11 Viewers)

@DJackson10 is the only one I remember since the beginning of last season that was pumping the brakes on Hurts. And boy did he take heat for it. Seems like a lot of eagles fans on this board owe him an apology. Or at the very least admit he was right
Hurts was the favorite for MVP the week of the SF game. Hard to say what alternative is realistically possible for the Eagles to put at QB that would be as good as Hurts has been. None of the other top QBs are getting moved, and I think even with Hurts struggles he would still be considered a top 10 QB at worst

It is sad that rival fans can’t poke at each other on a message board without people getting butthurt, wouldn’t you agree?
The only thing sad is that this has been your position for years. You enjoy it. Again, this isn’t hard to see and it’s sad.

It’s 2023 and I don’t understand how a troll is still a thing. I can think of a million better things to do than go into a place I don’t enjoy to cause issues and see the reaction of bigboy10182000.

But “lighten up Francis”…..”carry on with the oral”…..”I can’t understand why you get upset”……”I keep getting reported”. It’s pathetic.
Ya I don't understand it. I am able to, and do post positive things about Dallas when it's deserved, but some act like saying one positive thing about a rival team and they will melt into the earth. And to counter this it's "Oh if you aren't pumping the Eagles up then you're criticized".

Dallas fans used to just love the "omg you're obsessed with us and can't stop posting about us" insult, but when they do the exact same thing, that lack of self awareness creeps back in.

All fans, of any team, should at least be able to be objective and be able to give praise or criticism where it's due, to any team. This place would be a lot more helpful and educational if everyone could do that. Or could at least discuss football and give good insight on things in rival teams' threads, instead of showing up simply to say something negative or about the fans. It's wild.

Everytime someone isn’t blowing the eagles they’re trolling and fishing.

Carry on with the oral
Same spin over and over and over. You’ve done it for years and than play the victim when called on it.

FYI, it’s 2023 and extremely easy to see trolling and fishing. It’s an old trick that only weirdos carry on with nowadays. It’s like prank calling someone lol.
I mean I'm not sure how anyone could say it's NOT trolling when close to zero of their posts here relate to football. It's a shame because there's some fans of rival teams in here that make fantastic, thoughtful, and educated (even if not always positive) posts about the football team that this thread is about. Would be great if there was more of that... in all the team threads.

You're lumping all of us together. Speaking for myself only, you took literally everything I said about you [Eagles fans] and twisted around on Cowboys fans. That is some straight up narcissistic behavior.

I give positive takes on the the Eagles all the time. ANYTIME I have criticism it is met with backlash saying that Im just a hater and the old Superbowl jokes start flying.

Good luck the rest of the season. Merry Christmas.

Half of it was from vultures tds at the goal line. Without them he’s not even in the picture. Context mattere

Oh you were forced in here to listen to us? It’s hard to turn away when you have nothing else I guess.
This is such a horrible take
Yet here you are 🤷‍♂️ 😂
I try to talk some smack on a message board with some rival fans and according to you “I have nothing else”. It’s weak sauce and you all are as soft as as it gets. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I spent alot of time on a board that slowly died and it was a lot of fun giving and getting ****. Apparently that’s never going to happen here. I guess I’ll have to hold out hope the Giants and Washington get better soon
This is better than the Eagles Reddit page. They literally attacked a guy who is one of the biggest Eagles fans on there this past year because he didn’t agree with the majority

FWIW, I don't care what you or any other non-Eagles fan posts in here. I'll respond accordingly but I lose no sleep over any of this. I'll concede that there are soft Eagles fans as apparently they hit the report button on posts here. I respectfully disassociate myself with anyone that does that.

Crazy talk imo. Dude has 19 td passes and 17? turnovers
I get that people tend to defend “their guy”, but let’s be real
yea, that 17 turnovers is absolutely unacceptable. but if you had to make a decision today for next year, would Hurts not be in your top 10 choice? I have a hard time counting 5-6 QB's I'd want more than Hurts and i know we've all gone down this road a few times already on other threads. in fact until the Monday game I had raised my expectations of him from the beginning of the year. I believe he is capable of learning the hard lesson that his physical skills won't keep him in the driver seat for long and needs to make better decisions. we can blame the coaching and scheme only for so long, though I do blame that this year more than I blame Hurts.

I was thinking about this after the Seahawks game. Who's cares what seed we are. We are locked into the playoffs no matter what.

Why not bring some life into this team. Use these next 3 weeks to revise the playbook, Let our depth get more snaps.

Bring back the RPO, Play Action, WR,HB,TE Screens, Power Run, Philly Special, Flee Flicker just have some kind of creativity in the game plan.

NO MORE QB runs until the playoffs.

Defense, add more disguise into the scheme. Rotate our old Vets more often. Focus on stopping the run.

ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!!

I wouldn’t touch hurts with a 10 foot pole but again that’s a philosophical thing. I prefer quarterbacks over running backs, but I’m just a hater

I’ll say this until I die and maybe this is just the old Man in me, these guys who have been running their whole career, have always had that secret weapon to be able to run when the **** hits the fan. Because of that, they never develop an elite passing trait and they don’t develop as passers the way the guys who can’t run do.

It’s not that much different than which running back you would choose in your system. If I were designing an offense, I want all my offensive lineman to be 6’8”, 380 pounds. I want a running back like Earl Campbell, Derrick Henry or Marshawn Lynch or Emmitt Smith.

It doesn’t make me a hater. It’s just a philosophical thing.

The post I quoted said “realistically possible to play qb for the eagles that would be as good as hurts has been”

To your post off the top of my head there are 5-6 QBs that I would rather have playing qb than him. But yes, he would probably be in my top 10

I don’t believe so bud. I’d bet a decent amount that no cowboys fan has typed “HATER” about another poster or hit the report button once
Lol, my post was specifically in response to @STEADYMOBBIN 22 post that @Deamon was "lumping us (cowboys fans) all together". I then posted a quote from you specifically; " It’s weak sauce and you all are as soft as as it gets." as a clear example of how your side does precisely what he was bemoaning. I stand by that, don't know what you are talking about with the "hater" comment.

And again, I've never used the word hater in my normal life, nor my online life and I honestly didn't realize the report button was an actual thing until way more recently than I care to admit-always thought that was a euphemism or something. And I've been here for close to 18 years.

So I am clear with the playoff seeding based on today's standings-correct me if I am wrong:

1 seed: Super doubtful. We'd need to win out and SF would need to drop 2 of their next 3 and Dallas would need to lose 1. Not impossible but probably a <2% chance.
2 seed: Unclear/maybe. If we win out and Dallas wins out, we'd have the same record, divisional record, conference record, common opponents record. The next tie breaker is Strength of victory in all games, which I'm guessing we'd lose. Our best hope is that we win out and Dallas drops one to Miami/Detroit/Washington. I'd say this is a ~60% chance.
3 seed: Maybe/doubtful. Basically the only way this happens is if we lose a game and Dallas loses two AND Detroit wins out. We'd get the Division but the Lions would leap into #2. 10% chance.
4 seed: Not possible I don't think. We'd need to lose out and the Bucs win out and even then I don't think there is a possibility after tie breakers. <5%
5 seed: Likely. We win out and Dallas wins out, based on my understanding of the tie breakers, we'd push with Dallas until the Strength of Victory and we'd lose the division. >80% chance.
6 seed: Doubtful. We'd need to lose out and Minny would need to win out. <5%
7 seed: Doubtful. We'd need to lose out and Minny and Rams would have to win out. <5%

Based on the above I think we'll end at the 5 seed and play on the road against the Bucs. The way they are playing currently, I'd be super nervous about this game and even if we got past this one (assuming Dallas beats Rams and Lions beat Minny) we'd play SF in SF in the divisional round, which makes my palms sweat. We REALLY need the 2 seed. We're a substantially better team at home than away and playing the Rams and then the winner of Lions/Vikings, all at home sounds world's better than Bucs away, SF away.

Nope, but I've already said many times that I view this as Charmin soft.

We still control our own destiny for the 2 seed, since DAL also lost last week. We would win the tiebreaker via strength of victories (records of teams we beat.)

Haven't been here since the game. As I suspected, it's a crapfest in here.

As I see it, Hurts has, for some reason, taken a hero ball mentality. Maybe because he HAD been so successful with it. Another issue is he's too willing to force it to AJ instead of looking to his other playmakers. That final throw Monday night was a perfect example. Despite what LJax says, Hurts HAS the talent. He's shown it, over and over again. Can he be fixed? Probably...he has the right attitude and work ethic. He's clearly limited in his running this year for some reason, and that limitation ahs certainly affected how teams scheme up the Eagles defensively. In the long run, this might actually be good for his longer term development. His insistence on forcing balls towards AJ SHOULD be a fixable one.

We'll see how it turns out. This team could turn this around, SHOULD turn this around. BUt can they do it in time for the playoffs?

I've repeatedly seen that Eagles control their own destiny for the division. Win the last three and they win the division. A loss to anyone could change that even if Dallas were to lose one.....I'm honestly not sure

If we both go 2-1, DAL wins the division if our loss is either NYG game. If our loss is to AZ, we win it.

So win out and we’re the 2 no matter what. There you go. If we lose any of these games then I’d say we’re a fraud team anyways. Use these three weeks to get right. Win a couple of home playoff games and see what happens with Dallas and SF.

We may turn it around and win a playoff game. Hard to see them winning the superbowl with how they look. Which is all I care about honestly

Watching the Rams defense, even though they just gave up 14 points in like 2 minutes, really shows why the eagles defense is so bad this year. Saints throw a screen and one guy grabs kamara who starts to break free and there are 5-6 Rams players running to the play.

Eagles are just burnt from the tough schedule this year, or they just don’t have the desire to hang tackle anymore. Not sure the fix beside maybe moving out some of the old guys and letting the young guys in more

I definitely don’t think you can pin the defensive issues on being burnt out from a tough schedule. Before the first Dallas matchup, they gave up 290 yards passing 4 times in 8 games (to the likes of Mac Jones, Kirk Cousins and Sam Howell). I think they’re getting older, have had some key injuries and have just regressed. They’re also not getting the sacks and turnovers like last year.

Not sure if everyone will have access to this or not, but it's a very good article about the struggles on offense.

Lol, I just came in here to post the exact same thing. Fantastic article of why the Eagles offense is so broken this year. Why it can work from time to time, but the over-arching issues of why it is so stagnant.

It is strange too, because i thought last year Siriani last year talked about how each week he would have guys on his coaching staff bring new ideas from college games and they would look to incorporate them in their gameplanning. I guess that doesn't happen anymore?

Sounds like they could just be watching tape of Colts games to see what Steichen has been doing to modify his system there. Although with Minshew at QB I'm not sure the adjustments they've made would transfer well to the Eagles. But it wouldn't be a bad place to start.

They are for sure not doing enough as far as gameplanning on attacking what the weakness on the defenses are. That's coaching and planning. We haven't gotten much of that

It's the in game adjustments we are missing. Brian Johnson doesn't know what that means

I don’t generally disagree regarding recent games but TBH we’ve had a lot of games where we’ve done nothing in the first half and then smashed in the second half. That’s gotta be credit to Johnson for adjusting, right?

Credit to him? Or someone else? Or for the players just making plays? Who knows

Sounds like they could just be watching tape of Colts games to see what Steichen has been doing to modify his system there. Although with Minshew at QB I'm not sure the adjustments they've made would transfer well to the Eagles. But it wouldn't be a bad place to start.

Who knows
I’d credit him, he’s the offensive coordinator. Don’t get me wrong I’ve been banging on this offensive gameplan for months. I think it’s predictable, they abandon the run for ridiculous stretches, they overuse Gainwell and under utilize Swift in the run game and criminally in the pass game. They run plays that obviously work (jet screen to Swift, every slant to AJ) and then don’t roll them out again for two weeks let alone in the same game.

I blame Sirriani more than Johnson. It’s his offense. Adapt or die.

The Eagles want their franchise quarterback to be authentic, but some team leaders also want him to open himself up a little more in the locker room and have a more outward leadership style when it’s needed during difficult stretches, several team sources close to the situation said.

Per the inquirer sources. One quote stated at the time in there most miserable 10-1 team in the league.

Not sure if you saw, but all of that comes from Jeff McLean’s reporting. Don’t think you’ve trusted anything from him, in the past.

Sounds like clickbait bs

Not sure if everyone will have access to this or not, but it's a very good article about the struggles on offense.

Probably spending too much time perfecting the tush push.

Yep and no one should.

This is why you take so much crap for your Hurts hate- you’ve been on the “Jeff McLane is a hack that makes stuff up” train for as long as I can remember. Then, he posts this and you gobble it up like Christmas candy and conveniently leave out a source.
