Jensen is off the board, but the Bucs are $3 mil over the cap. Also, I'd be a bit surprised if Brady signs an extension to lower his cap number since the Bucs said 100% they're not trading him. If he might play in 2023 he would probably want the ability to choose where he goes. 

The Bucs can probably do things with void years to get some available money, but I highly doubt they can bring back a large amount of other FAs without getting Godwin signed long term, and that probably won't happen before 4pm today. 

I'd assume Davis and Whitehead leave, Fournette might stay. The Bucs have to focus their money for this run (and free up enough for signing rookies), I'd assume they go hard on offense and hope that Brady can overcome any defensive struggles. 

 
The rumors swirling about the Steelers are all over the place, I think that tonight we get a lot of clarity on the plan. There could be some splash announcements when it comes to QBs, CBs, LBs, DTs; it will be interesting to see how the FAs impact what we expect in the draft. 

Mark Madden is yelling into the wind that the Steelers won't be involved in early FA, but I think we get news on Safety and CB in the short term. Whether that's Edmunds and Witherspoon, or Davis and Whitehead. 

 
Sounds like Juju's highest odds are to sign with the Titans, Ravens, and Chiefs (and Falcons). I don't think he'd sign with the Ravens based on scheme and them being a rival, but could be wrong. If I was him, I'd sign with the Chiefs. Having Hill and Kelce to take away pressure, he could dominate. 

I wish he was a Steelers' lifer, but I don't think it happens. 

 
I did not think they would do it, thought they'd add rookie at some point to Rudolph/Haskins. Very happy to be wrong here(at least until I know contract numbers I'm happy)

I hope this signals that they intend to go BPA with the 20.  It's what they should do fo' sho', so this makes me feel a bit better about that, if nothing else.

Jensen would have been a nice get, but Davis is legit.  

OL (in FA) would be most welcome too, but getting a legit CB that can cover #1s is never, ever a negative.  Especially since they are so bad at drafting them since what feels like probably Ike Taylor.....and he wasn't exactly a guarantee to develop when they drafted him.

Smart decision signing Trubisky. Definitely provides experience at the position with upside (without a huge investment).  This is exactly what I wanted to see.

I agree, Davis would be great. I am assuming he will not end up with the Steelers. Too many suitors…

It's a 2 year deal with Trubisky, assuming he wins the camp battle with Rudolph, he can be the holdover in 2023 while the rookie QB sits, if necessary. 

I hope they go BPA at 20 or trade down and get more capital for 2023. If Trubisky isn't the long term answer, which I don't think that most of us believe that he is, then trading up for a QB next year could be the way to go. 

If we trade down from 20 it could go from Jordan Davis/Tyler Linderbaum/Devin Lloyd/Trevor Penning to Devonte Wyatt/Zion Johnson/Kenyon Green/Andrew Booth Jr. There's still a lot of options later in the 1st or early 2nd, but we'd probably only get a future 2nd at most as compensation.

Waiting to see numbers, but I generally agree.  Should give them a lot more flexibility over the next two or three seasons to find "their guy" at QB, instead of making a reactionary pick in a lackluster class.

If it's a two year deal only, I like the signing even more. 

'23 class is going to be quite a bit better for QBs, and if it comes to them needing to trade up for a guy I'd much rather seem them doing it for the assumed top 3 next year as any of the guys from '22.

It's being reported as a 2-year deal. I'm guessing it's similar to what Dalton got for 2021, $10 mil per year.

Is Jimmy G really that worse than Trubinsky?   He isn't good but at least we saw it this year.  Mitch was a backup all last year.  Plus it isn't like Trubinsky is safe with the ball either.  

He is definitely an upgrade over Mason Rudolph but yeah easily we have the worst QB in the AFC North.  And yes Baker Mayfield is way better.  Hopefully a good QB is on the draft board.  Unless we are tanking in the next couple years

Yeah, they still could. 

But now they can potentially decide to see which of the top 5-6 QBs tumble to their pick in the second, if they REEEEALLY want to get a rookie in there.  Aren't forced to burn the 20 or (gag) trade up.

JG is better than Trubisky....but would cost draft capital AND a bunch of cash for '22.  Plus, "surgery".

Also not a great fit unless they want to keep throwing 5 yard dump offs.  A lot of Jimmy's production comes on YAC from backs/Deebo.

Jimmy G would have cost a trade PLUS lots of money. Trubisky should be much cheaper than $26 million. Also, Jimmy G would require a long term contract or risk losing him after 1 year. Trades in the final year of a contract give the player lots of leverage. 

Is Jimmy G better than Trubisky, probably, but not $15 million and a 2nd better. 

Also he's hurt all the freakin time.

To me, the difference is the draft capital they would have to give for Jimmy G.

 
I like how everyone on Twitter is like, but Trubisky sucks! And we're like, "yup! But he's cheap."

These are the same people that are like, "Sign Jimmy G or Aaron Rodgers" having 0 clue that they're not free agents. 

 
If Jimmy G and Trubisky were equal costs in salary and draft capital then Jimmy G would be my choice, I mean he was the QB on two SB teams in last 3 years. But in terms of both of those things I'm sure Trubisky cost's way less and cost zero draft capital so glad we went that route.

 
Trubisky confirmed that he's coming to the Steelers. Hopefully this means we won't see another 200 mock drafts with the Steelers taking some combo of Willis/Corral/Picket/Howell/Ridder in the 1st. 

 
Ogunjobi leaving the Bengals, guard Alex Cappa joining them. Should make it a bit easier on our running game, but worse for our pass rush. 

 
In theory, MT should be exactly the type of QB for Canada's system. He's mobile and can throw from outside the pocket (though not accurately the last time we saw him in Chicago). He should be able to be more involved in playing on the move, and should be able to cover for some O-line flaws. That said, he would not have success behind last year's O-line, improvement is definitely necessary. 

 
I was interested when I first heard his name thrown around, but I was thinking to a small deal with ne real commitment to him as a starter. It sounds like this is going to be a decent sized contract and means they are not going to be looking for other options. I don't like either of those issues. He could turn it around, but more likely is he is who he is. They should still be drafting a QB in round 1.

SF will be lucky to get a 7th. Nobody is offering a 2nd. I had zero interest in Jimmy G in Pittsburgh.

 
No disrespect to Big Ben, but Trubisky's arm has to be better than Ben's was the last year or two. Not a bad pickup, and I'm sure they still target someone in the draft since Haskins is garbage.

You think Trubisky is good enough to just roll with? I was thinking he's good enough that they don't HAVE to take a QB at #20, but still very much could if they like a guy.

ETA: As a Bears fan 1st, and a Steelers fan 2nd, I think Mitch is better than what Ben has been of late, but I'm not excited about this move at all.

I think this is their angle. Let's say they love QB X this year.  If he is there at 20, they take him anyway. If he isn't, then they don't have to make a reactionary pick for QB Y.

I think that Trubisky is meh, but I think that 0 of the QBs in this year's class are worth a 1st round pick, let alone pick 20.

If we can get Willis or Corral in the 2nd, I'd be ok with that, but these guys are just getting pushed up because they're the best available this year. They're not great. Let's take a great player at 20, and preferably 52 also.

I know a bunch of folks had posted earlier about wanting him.  I just don't know.  He seems a lot like Haskins ... someone else's draft pick mistake that we are taking a chance will suddenly play better just because of a scenery change.  I hope I'm wrong.
