2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (2 Viewers)

Not very impressed with vikings or lions right now
You’re not impressed with the Lions? They’re decimated on defense with injuries and dominating a pretty good offense. On offense, they are pretty loaded. I would expect a very close game between Philly and Detroit.

I agree with you about the Vikings. Darnold is who we thought he was.

Lions offense is legit. But vikings should have multiple tds in this game. We will score alot vs them

Eagles will run all over either of these teams if they face them in the playoffs.

Honestly, when I see:

Min - 1st & goal at the 5
Min - 1st & goal at the 7
Min - 1st & goal at the 5

And they only get 3 points. Eagles are walking away with 17 minimum, 21 probably. The Lions have spent the night sending 7 and 8 guys and the Vikings are playing into their hands by continually throwing it.

Yeah, this DET team isn’t just the “Team of Destiny” this year. They are ultra-talented on Offense, well-coached and playing cohesive team ball. Underestimate them at your peril.

I am rooting for you guys this year. One of my closest friend (diehard Eagles fan) will likely be put in hospice care soon. I would do anything to be there with him celebrating a championship.

Gotta say, watching the game I absolutely love how McKee throws with anticipation. I’m lucky enough to see the games throw all-22 in real time and I’m sure you’ll see plenty of what I’m talking about. One play to Dotson, the ball is out of his hands and 5 yards away from him by the time his head is on the ball for a 12 yard game. It’s just not possible to defend some of the passes he threw today. It was very encouraging to see.
I was at the game and that play was right in front of me. He threw that ball way before Dotson broke on the out route and placed it perfectly. IMO that was his most impressive and encouraging play on a day with a lot of them.

Midnight finally came for Sam Darnold. Lions are an impressive bunch despite all the injuries

Jacksonville Jaguars fired Doug Pederson as their head coach, per source.

Pederson’s tenure in Jacksonville ends after three season and a 22-29 record, including 18 losses in the last 23 games.

Lol giants

Giants are retaining HC Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen.

Rams essentially conceded the 3 seed to TB by not trying to win today. The impact to us is that if TB wins vs WSH and we beat GB, we host TB in the divisional round.

I was rooting for ATL to win the South just to not have TB in the equation because they’ve had our number in the playoffs since the Joe Jurevicius/Ronde Barber game. Now, they are likely right in our path.

Our playoff history with GB, however, is pretty limited. Just 3 times playing them:

1960: NFL championship and Vince Lombardi's only playoff loss (W)
2005: 4th & 26 (W)
2011: Andy Reid's last Eagles playoff appearance (L)

That 2011 game is where Akers, who had been money for years, was starting to get shaky and missed 2 makeable FGs (from 34 & 41) in a game we lost by 5 points. It wound up being his last game in an Eagles uniform. :ponder:

I also think, if the Eagles win, this could be the first time a home team beat the same team in 2 different stadiums in the same season (excluding the SB, which is always a neutral site.)

Any news on the extent of the Christian Watson injury yet? Pretty positive he probably won't play, but I haven't seen anything.

Tyrese Hill wants out if Mia. Go work your magic Howie.
Want nothing to do with Tyreek. People have a problem with AJ who is a model citizen at WR. What do you think will happen if we get Tyreek here?

A hell of a lot of TDs. AJs had issues since college. He’d had been a top 10 pick but dropped do to issues in college.
You don't think Tyreek would be in Jalens ear the first time he doesn't go his way enough?

Fractured tibia is the unconfirmed diagnosis, which obviously puts him out for the playoffs, if true.

Jordan Love just seemed to have struck his funny bone and could have returned, if needed. So he'll be a full go this week.

I was sick for a week, do not recommend, zero stars, so the Dallas game is a blur to me. I just remember being happy seeing Pickett play well and McKee finally getting on field and performing. The past two seasons, everything I read said he had a better camp than the #2, but the team wanted a more experienced player at two since they have SB aspirations. Great to see him play and do well. Hoping he can finally be the two next year and they can flip Pickett for something. Granted, McKee was only playing the Giants (also, lol for them running it back), but he also did it with almost all backups, so that's a wash.

So glad they rested everyone. There was zero to gain chasing the record when being rested and healthy is much more important.

Can't wait for these playoffs to start. No other NFC team scares me. Of course that doesn't mean a guaranteed trip to the SB, but I think Eagles would be favored against any of them on a neutral field. For Green Bay, establish the run, control the clock, and let Hurts knock the rust off. Might need the defense to carry the day, which could be easier depending on the extent of Love's injury.

Go Birds!

If Jalen can’t take WRs demanding the ball then maybe he’s not cut out to be an NFL QB. QBs always have to deal with WRs demanding the ball.

I feel the same way. You almost couldn’t have drew it up any better IMO. Outside of Brandon Graham and Covey we shouldn’t have a single starter out, while playing at home after a week of rest for the first time in 3 months. Barring something unforeseen we should win Sunday.

Yeah…that Mahomes and Reid guy couldn’t deal with him either. Those two aren’t cut out to be a QB or HC….

Jesus man 😂 You’re our Finkle and Hurts is your Marino 😂

Watson torn ACL. Out for the year.
That's gonna hurt them big time. They only had 4 people catch more than 600 yards receiving and no one over 1k. He was the best field stretcher.

Curious how the "Saquon + All Starters should play a meaningless game for a record" feel now after seeing this news + the Jordan Love elbow scare.

Probably nothing changed for most people, but for those of us that basically said "that would be dumb" - this sort of stuff definitely gives validation to the notion of not playing for records.

Is health a determining factor in winning the Super Bowl? The most unhealthy team is the #1 seed. The year we won it, we were as unhealthy as you can get. Going for an Eagles record, I might agree with you. Not worth it. Going for an NFL record that has stood for 40 years, not so much. Eagles fully healthy still only have a 10% chance of winning the Super Bowl. Anything short of winning it all and those guys will forget they lost in the playoffs but they'll regret not going for that record for the rest of their lives. It'll be the biggest "what if" of their professional careers.

Lot to unpack here.

First - is health a determining factor? I'd argue Talent first, and then having that talent healthy. I don't like to take exceptions as rules, personally. Which is why you don't see a ton of winning Super Bowl teams in NFL history with a backup QB.

If, given the information you have, the fact a lot of key guys still got banged up yesterday, and you'd still want to risk the health of the entire offense to chase a record, I got nothing for that.

This team has been Super Bowl or bust since the beginning of LAST year, so its not changing much as far as the team outlook. If the Eagles only have a 10% fully healthy, think about how bad that would be with just 1 key starter missing...

Someone on the radio the other day said that the 07 Pats played their starters when they were 15-0. I don't know if that was last time when one of the historical records was in jeopardy of being broken...but that comment swayed me more on it. History matters. Saquon Barkley is a great RB...but he's not a HOF. Getting that record would put him on a better track for a HOF legacy. I kind of think they owed it to the Line and the fans who showed up yesterday. Injury always looms in the NFL. A chance at history doesn't.

I like how the example of why to go for the record is bringing up the team most famous for not winning the Super Bowl. In order, this team is famous for

Going 16-0, and losing to Eli and the Giants

Setting the Passing and Receiving Touchdown Records

They didn't lose in the Super Bowl because someone got hurt going for the record. You're acting like an injury was a guarantee, it's not.

You're leaving out rest. Sure, they could all be healthy but that's an additional game of wear and tear for guys like Lane Johnson who I'm sure could use the rest. I'd rather they get a bye week than chase an individual record. Juice isn't worth the squeeze.

With the current 17 game schedule (and 18 likely to soon follow) Saquon’s record total would have been passed before he even hit his HOF eligibility year.

It takes more than just volume of carries. You need to average over 5.5 ypc. Only 3 RBs did that this season (Henry, Barkley and Gibbs).

Its fine. You have your opinion, and thats ok. The facts are, The Eagles rested starters, they incurred no injuries and the Packers had one of their guys rush back, and now not only is the rest of THIS season over for him, his 2025 season, a contract year is also wiped.

We can argue about that if/what could have happened stuff all day.

The here and now though, the Eagles have a distinct and better advantage over the Packers now that they will not have Christian Watson for the playoffs.

Not when you have a week 4 bye lol

So, you're saying there's a chance...
With the seedings set, a few things need to happen to host the NFCC: win two games and DET lose theirs after their bye.
Eagles face GB at home first (currently 4.5-point favs), if we win, we would play the highest remaining seed of:
TB, LAR, MIN, WAS
TB currently 3-point favs over WAS
MIN currently 1.5 road favs over LAR
If those favorites hold, we're looking at hosting TB in the divisional round and...
MIN gets a second chance to beat DET in DET, you gotta think they play a better game than they did last night.
If we can beat TB and DET can't beat MIN twice in a row...
Eagles host the NFCC. 🤞

We got this! Tampa ain't the same in Philly and when we have AJB healthy.

About about Lioned out enough to root for the Eagles. I like the players on the Eagles well enough.

Both sides of this argument are correct, IMO, but it doesn't really matter now; they benched everyone and we've got a banged up GB coming in 6 days. I'll be rooting for the full season (regular and post-) rushing record for Saquon. This means more frankly, because it means that if he breaks it, The birds have made the Super Bowl. Team record and all of that.

Is health a determining factor in winning the Super Bowl?
Would you rather have injuries players or not?

I can’t believe I actually had to ask that question.

The mental gymnastics, even after seeing players get hurt yesterday, is just wild to me. Every single Lions coach, player and fan would want their starters back.

It takes more than just volume of carries. You need to average over 5.5 ypc. Only 3 RBs did that this season (Henry, Barkley and Gibbs).
The 6 other 2k RBs got within less than a 100 yards (closer than Saquon) to breaking the record in the same (or less) 16 games.

A 17th, and maybe 18th game, increases the odds of it getting broken, assuming we all agree Saquon would have been pulled after getting the record and probably only bested it by a few yards.

Also, YPC isn’t a constant because total carries are a big variable. A back that gets 24 carries/game (Saquon had 22/game) only needs 4.8 YPC in an 18 game season (8 RBs did that this year) or 5.1 in 17 games.

Bottom-line, it’s a more reachable record because of the increase in games. Unlike other records like an undefeated season, which gets less reachable. That was threatened once in the last 52 years, and a 17th (and maybe 18th) game just keep decreasing the chance it ever happens again.

You're totally missing the point. Playing players doesn't guarantee injury. Having all your players available doesn't guarantee winning.
