2024 Philadelphia Eagles - 30 years ago, from the makers of V.I. Warshawski (9 Viewers)

WR Ainias Smith

Looks like a kick returner
Looks like a really really valuable returner with the new kickoff rule. Powerful yet decisive and quick, can find holes. That's exactly the type of returner that will thrive under the new rules.

Update: #Eagles GM Howie Roseman turned pick No. 78 (Calen Bullock) into:
94. Jalyx Hunt
127. Will Shipley
155. Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
2025 4th
2025 5th
* also traded 210

I’ll forever hate Jeff McLane and anyone who takes anything he says serious. How tf do you ask this?
Wow, what an ***
He’s always been the eagles FO and players think he’s a joke. They keep him around for entertainment purposes. Arrogant clown who made **** up on Kelce and Doug that wasn’t true. Absolute clown. I’d have expected marcus Hayes to ask something like this as he always tries to bring or insinuate race into this. But stupid question non the less

Howie is really in his element on draft day. Still got a bunch of picks to take, used 1/2/3/4 on players yet still added 2025 3rd/4th/5th rounders.

Still want Slot WR, LB, OG lets see how it plays out

Obviously we have to see how it all plays out but what is there not to like from this draft? Position and player wise I can’t think of a single thing. This has been the most complete draft I’ve seen Howie have ever.

Trevor Keegan. Guard, Michigan. Got an Olinemen. Again didn't watch enough to know if he's good or not.
He’s considered a run blocking guard but….

ZERO Sacks Allowed in 2023 (382 Pass Block Snaps)

These are the guys I like Stoutland to work with.
Keegan, 23, was a three-year starter for the national champions. He's 6-foot-5, 310 pounds. Started 36 games at LG. He's been first-team all-Big Ten and second-team all-Big Ten. He was a team captain for the Wolverines.

This is one of those ones that feels like he starts at some point

Sentimental pick?
About where he was going to go and Eagles do need LBs.

I don't know what Trotter is going to be in the NFL. He's undersized. Not particularly fast or athletic. TJ Edwards would be a best case IMO. Doubt he gets there.
He has the same expectations for me as any 5th round LBer would. Have to see how bad these guys want it and how well they’re coached up. Position wise we checked every box.

Per PFF

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: A+

Mitchell — Philadelphia fortifies its 28th-ranked coverage unit with arguably the most talented cornerback in this class. Mitchell led all FBS cornerbacks in PFF overall grade in each of the past two seasons. His outstanding athleticism and ability to make plays in off-coverage make him a perfect fit in Vic Fangio’s defense.

DeJean — The Eagles add two top-10 players on the PFF big board in the first two rounds of this draft, both at the cornerback position. DeJean projects as a movable piece in Vic Fangio’s defense who could theoretically end up outside, in the slot or at safety. He’s been extremely productive in the Iowasecondary, allowing just a 45.0 passer rating into his coverage over the past two seasons.

Hunt — A small-school player, Hunt dominated the lower levels, racking up 78 pressures, 14 hits and 14 sacks since 2022. He has athleticism, explosiveness and power that many edge rushers in this class don’t possess. He needs development to win at the next level, but his traits give him a great chance at reaching his potential.

Shipley — Shipley is one of the better athletes among running backs in this draft class, with a 99th-percentile PFF Game Athleticism Score. He was solid with the ball in his hands, too, and he earned a PFF grade above 70.0 in each of the past three seasons.

Smith — Smith proved a dangerous receiver after the catch at Texas A&M, as he forced 20 missed tackles after the catch in 2023 (seventh among all WRs). On 102 combined targets the past two seasons, he dropped just two passes.

Trotter — Sure to be one of the big stories of the day due to him heading to the same place where his father enjoyed an outstanding career, Trotter ranked fourth among all linebackers the past two seasons with a 91.3 overall grade. He also ranked fourth nationally in that time with a 92.1 coverage grade.

Keegan — Supplementing the interior is a sound approach here for the Eagles, who needed to fill some voids. Keegan didn’t allow a sack in 2023 and earned a career-high pass-blocking grade (80.7). He played eight games without allowing a single quarterback pressure.

Wilson — The massive receiver out of Florida Statefinally comes off the board in the sixth round. At 6-foot-6 and 231 pounds, Wilson ran an impressive 4.52-second 40-yard dash. While not a super-developed route runner, there is certainly a role at the next level for a vertical threat who converted 21 contested catches over the past two seasons.

McMahon — A depth pick at this point in the draft, McMahon allowed just one sack and 12 total pressures from 361 pass-blocking snaps in 2023. He put up career highs in overall grade (69.7) and pass-blocking grade (71.3) last season.

UDFA signings so far

Howard OT Anim Dankwah
Baylor DT Gabe Hall

Tennessee TE McCallan Castles

Marshall WR Talik Keaton

LSU S Andre Sam

Georgia RB Kendall Milton

Quick thoughts

  • Speaking during his post-draft press conference, Howie Roseman indicated the Eagles are only signing seven UDFAs. That’s a smaller group than usual and it fits the theme of them not loving the talent available in this year’s class.
  • Nice to see the Eagles add an offensive tackle prospect after not landing one in the draft. Dankwah is a big man at nearly 6’8”, 353 pounds. He also has long arms (82 percentile arm length, 94 percentile wingspan). Worth enrolling him at Jeff Stoutland University.
  • NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had Hall projected as a fourth- or fifth-round pick. Adding some more DT depth is nice.
  • McCallan Castles is a great name.
  • NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had Keaton projected as a sixth-round pick.
  • The Eagles didn’t draft a Georgia player this year ... but their first reported UDFA signing was from there, naturally. Milton only caught 12 passes but he had solid rushing production. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had him projected as a sixth-round pick.

Offensive line help in Philadelphia: Former Jets first-round draft choice Mekhi Becton plans to sign a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million with the Eagles, pending a physical Monday, per his agents Alan Herman and Jared Fox. Becton is expected to be the Eagles swing tackle. Per Scheftar

Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland was a proponent of signing Mekhi Becton. And if and when he passes his physical, Becton officially will report to Stoutland U.

Almost every website I scrolled thru with Draft grades had Philly at either A/A+
MoP would tend to agree with all of them, thought the 1st two picks should be the backbone of the secondary for the next 4-5 years.
I've never seen a team take away half the field in under 40 selections, sick infusion of talent that will pay off immediately

Philly IMO just ensured they stay relevant for a long time. Washington may have found a QB, Dallas didn't exactly mover the needle and the Giants still are a long way away.
Philly winning the division 3 of the next 4 years seems like a pretty safe bet right now. Philly making it into the NFCC several more times seems like a good bet as well.
The Lions also attempted to shoot a couple times right into their secondary and they did well
But I like the Mitchell-Dejean combo the best, better than any I can remember in the Draft in recent memory,
I felt like the Eagles moved the needle forward and distanced themselves from many other teams in the NFC

No one wins the NFC East back to back.

That's about to change

Thanks man. Let's see these guys play first but it sure looks good right now

25 new players plus UDFA's seems insane. That's half the team if they all make it!
