2024 Philadelphia Eagles - Happy 7th birthday to our most precious baby. (19 Viewers)

Offense continues to look terrible

They are so tough to watch on offense

Best win in a long time

This is how they have to win IMO. Use the ground game to set the pass up, control the game, limiting the turnover and play defense. Hurts is just not built to pass a ton. The more you do it the more you’re playing with fire with the turnovers.
This is how they won in 2021, Sirianni's first year. And they got a lot better about 1/3 of the way through the season when they went run-heavy.

In the second half, the Eagles threw the ball four times and ran the ball 29 times

Upcoming opponents

CIN - 27th against the run
JAX - 12th against the run
DAL - 25th against the run
WAS - 21st against the run
LAR - 32nd against the run

Looks like we may be going on a bit of a run

If we don't Sirianni should be run out of town.

We will prob be favored in all those games

He’s barely a game manager. One of the big loses of Kelce was something not seen a lot and he made all the protection calls. Unfortunately we paid a mid QB franchise QB $$$ to be a game mamager

Great win.
Stress free, forgot what the feels like.
Then my toddler started screaming.
But I digress, VIc has been on fire the past month or so. Amazing game plans and execution.
2 straight games of a scary looking pass rush?
Yes please!

LOCKDOWN: #Eagles 1st round cornerback Quinyon Mitchell locked down #Giants receivers today.

• 4 targets
• 2 catches allowed
• 15 total yards
• ZERO touchdowns
• 59.4 passer rating allowed

He has been lights out this season.

He's got that "it" factor. Saw it right away. DeJean looks good too. I think DeJean will probably take over the CJGJ role once his contract is up.

That right there is the mystery to me, how the secondary looks in the next few years.

Gonna be some musical chairs to watch for sure. All I know for certain is Q is CB1.

both these guys look good to me. i think we need to get at least one more corner soon through the draft or free agency. hoping slay is gone soon

Slay will be gone next year. We just can't afford to keep him around and the expense of the younger guys getting reps.
And yeah I'm with ya, both Q and DeJean look good. DeJean WILL start, I should have been clear on that. Just not sure if its going to be S or Slot CB, but I'd hope they pick one and roll with it b/c we've seen these "jack of all trade" guys never develop far too often.

Now if Hunt can't really show something this draft class can be a home run.

Eagles Jags Sun night now moved to afternoon Sunday Colts @ Vikings flexed to Sun night.

Eagles have been flexed out of Sunday Night Football on NBC. Came against Jacksonville will now be at 4 PM on CBS on November 3.

Dean was all over Danny most of the day, was really good to see that kind of pass rush from him, I don't think we seen that yet with him. He looked to be open to the QB several times, which obviously is a lot on the gmen oline, but certainly looked by design.

Bengals have improved since the beginning of the year. Especially their D. We'll see how our team looks against them.

We should throw the first two weeks stats for Cinci out the window due to injuries and preseason issues with Chase, etc. So 3-2 since, lost to the two teams that actually have a good offense in Washington and Baltimore. Are we on par with these teams? Not with Wash, maybe Balt. We could be better than both from a talent perspective, but haven't seen enough to say we are there yet. Will be a frustratingly close game, let's go!

Cincy played like dogmeat the first 3 games of the season. The last 4 games, they lost to BAL (no shame in that) and won against 3 cupckae teams. They let CAR hang around; they beat a NYG team without Nabers and still gave up yards and points; they beat CLE.

Their Offense looks better the last couple weeks, but they’re still not the “Joe Burrow and the best trio of WRs in the league” Offense everyone was expecting. The D has major issues.

With Orlando Brown possibly missing time, we might get a chance to see if Fangio is actually working magic and turning chicken crap into chicken salad with this D. The sacks are piling up the last 2 weeks, and they do come in bunches. Coverage has been much tighter and better, and is leading to all the sacks and pressures.

The key for the Eagles this week will be how Q and DeJawn play. Quinyon put Nabers in jail last week- he is contending for DROY. Huge challenge this week with Chase, Higgins and Iosivas with Joe Cool throwing.

the pass rush has got to hit or we will struggle

Cincinnati doesn't scare me. Teams that can't run the ball won't do well against the Eagles. Plus the Bengals defense is a steaming pile of crap.

The Eagles should run for at least 200 against them. They will score in the 30s this week.

My only concern about the Bengals really is our offensive playcalling. They are getting good rushing numbers, but the commitment to it still isn't there (enough for me) considering the way the offense has looked pass vs run this year. We could just get ourselves into a lot of 3rd and long situations and punt and/or turn the ball over - and while we were like 1 for 13 on 3rd down last week and won handily, I don't see us having that same success against the Bengals AND stopping them when they have to just pass non stop in comeback mode. They have way better weapons than the Giants and a QB that is 10x the player. Not that we *can't* win that way, but it would just be one of those games where it seems it would be easier if we just grind out the win with 30+ rushing attempts instead of trying to start out and pass the ball all over the field.

It seems we always start out throwing. At least the first couple possesions. Its maddening. Its why we havent scored a damn point in the first qtr

Someone must’ve kidnapped Kellen at halftime

Cowboys fans posted here that these are exactly the problems that they had with Moore when he was in Dallas. Also throwing all the time with a lead instead of using the run game to run clock and protect a lead. Maybe he will change. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The game against Bengals will give a good idea if the team is truly improving or not.
Was thinking the same. Bengals are a mediocre team, but what they do well matches with what Eagles have done poorly at. Burrow has been quietly efficient and he's got several great targets. It isn't exactly an ideal matchup. A win will mean good things even if it's close. If the Eagles are a playoff team, they need to win games like this.

I hope so. Vegas has it at 25-22 Bengals though.

I don't feel good about this week, just a gut feeling.

Really hope we look good, feels like this is quietly a game that is going to show us who we are.

Against the Giants: 45 rush attempts, 15 pass attempts. You can't be more committed to the run than that.

And by many accounts it’s not the HC or OC. More and more people are seeing this and the offense has to be limited because of Hurts. You have to hope he starts to grasp the simple things better moving forward or else we’ll be forced to hide him like we did with the Giants.

Hey maybe it is Hurts. I think its probably a lot more to do with a few factors and the one being learning and becoming familiar with a brand new system again is probably part of it.

I was very happy with the run centric approach last game, trust me. And maybe I'm nitpicking, but 1 for 13 on 3rd downs, when Hurts was 10/14 passing for the game, albeit there were a few too many sacks, just doesn't add up to me.

Hopefully the Giants game was sort of a "Wow" moment knowing we can be a pretty dominant team and score a lot of points by also rushing the ball a lot.

It’s a lot more Hurts than some want to believe. As a HC or OC (or whomever we want to say is calling the plays) the only thing they can do is scheme guys open. If they’re there and our QB can’t find them or just dump it down that’s a big problem. Im lucky enough to be able to watch the games on the All-22 and there’s a LOT of misses. Not huge plays but extremely simple ones. His pocket presence is still the same as it was years ago. After that first read he gets very squirrelly at times instead of stepping up. The second he started to look slow and reluctant to run (he takes very strange hits now) he needed to rely more on his passing prowess and it’s been poor.

The Giants model is one we need to use more until he figures it out.

Yeah I'm with ya and that plan. The most obvious one from the past game was the mesh concept Devonta was WIDE OPEN underneath for an easy first down the play before he hit AJ on 4th and 3 for the touchdown. And yes, there are many more. He Isn't the most elite processor of info, but with practice and repetition he has proven he can improve and get better, like year 1 then 2 with Steichen. Will he ever be elite at that, probably not. Will he improve enough this year for us to make a deep playoff run? I'm not sure about that either.

Not that we *can't* win that way, but it would just be one of those games where it seems it would be easier if we just grind out the win with 30+ rushing attempts instead of trying to start out and pass the ball all over the field.

Im actually concerned with what seems like an unwillingness to run now. He seemed to look slow last year and again this year. He doesn’t seem like he wants to at all and that was a very key part of his game when he had success as a passer. He was so good at it and fast that teams had to account for it. Now it’s so awkward at times and he takes strange hits. Like the 4th down conversion in the reds zone. He seems almost shocked to be hit and he went in so awkward to me.

This game, with Chase and Higgins, will be a really good litmus test of just how far along Q (and DeJean) are in their development. Hopefully they continue to shine, but it could be an understandable struggle for either/both that might bring us back down to Earth in our expectations for promising rookies with limited games under their belt.

I had this Bengals game as a L, but I don't think I'm going to be right about it. I think the pass rush continues to eat this week. Defense has been historically unlucky in the turnover department. I see that changing this week. Will still be tight, b/c we will do stupid stuff.

Eagles 27
Bengals 20

That is the main thing! He doesn't need to play "perfect" or even great QB. Just make some plays, but yeah, key thing is to not turn it over. Good things happen!
