I wanted a white Lion baseball cap with the Blue Lion logo.
I go to Rally House, it is a big store. If you have been there you know it is divided into Lions, Michigan, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, MSU and other local sports.
There were at least 40-50 people jammed into the Lion section. Maybe 7-8 in the Michigan section for National Title stuff. Nobody anywhere else.
Talked to the store employee and she said Michigan and Lions gear has had record sales all year, but the last month it has been off the charts with Michigan winning the National Title and Lions making and winning in the playoffs.
Said last 2 weeks they can`t keep Lions gear in. I already had 3 Lions shirts from past, but wanted a hat. There were people there who had 4-5-6 items, jerseys, Lion baby stuff, key chains, everything. This is so unreal for me as a lifelong Lion fan to see people buying all this.

GM delays shift at Flint plant so workers can watch Detroit Lions in NFC championship game
In a rare move, General Motors is delaying production by just a tiny bit of its popular and highly profitable pickups made at Flint Assembly plant so that employees can watch the Detroit Lions NFC Championship game Sunday night.
GM will start its third shift at Flint Assembly an hour late Sunday night, GM spokesman Kevin Kelly confirmed to the Detroit Free Press on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, some Flint workers had posted the news on social media. In the post, GM wrote: "We recognize the Detroit Lions playing in an NFC Championship game as a rare, unique opportunity that warrants this temporary schedule adjustment to allow employees to enjoy the game and to make it to work on time."
Flint is the only plant in Michigan that GM runs a third shift on a Sunday. One person on Redditt reacted to it by writing: "In my 13+ years at GM I've never seen a postponement to start the week ... even 2 feet of snow wouldn't do it lol. This is for the city! Go Lions!"
GM builds its heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups at Flint, where many among the nearly 5,000 people in the workforce have been sporting Honolulu Blue and silver attire all week, UAW Local 598 Shop Chairman Eric Welter told the Free Press.
"It's Lions gear everywhere and everyone's pretty excited," Welter said. "It's a time in Michigan that hasn't ever occurred before and I'm expecting many employers to do what they can to support that. We were probably early, but I'd imagine everyone else will do something to accommodate it."
Ford Motor Co. did not immediately provide a comment on whether it has any plants that may need shift adjustments for the game.
Stellantis spokeswoman Jodi Tinson sent the Free Press the following statement in an email: "Stellantis is proud of our hometown team, the Detroit Lions, and all of the excitement their victories to date have generated for the City. While we celebrate that success and root for another win against the San Francisco 49ers, Stellantis will run normal production schedules on Sunday to meet the expectations of our customers and dealers."
Stellantis, which makes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands, runs the following plants on Sunday: Sterling Heights Assembly, Detroit Assembly Complex — Jefferson, Detroit Assembly Complex — Mack and Windsor, Tinson said.
Welter said about 1,500 people work third shift at Flint, which GM typically runs for nine hours. It starts the general assembly line at 10 p.m. But the Lions versus the San Francisco 49ers game starts at 6:30 p.m. this Sunday, so GM will run an 8-hour shift. While the workforce does lose an hour of pay, Welter said no one is complaining.

Kelly said it would be hypothetical to say what would happen if the game goes into overtime, but for now, “We’re sticking with the hour delay.”

I'm not an NFL fan
Tldr; I'm now a NFL/Lions fan, and the people of Detroit are the best, I love you guys.
I'm not from Detroit. I'm not from Michigan, I'm not even from, living in or been to the USA.
I'm a Norwegian Ice hockey fan in my mid 30's who stumbled into picking Detroit red wings as my favorite team as a teenager. I've always loved baseball as well, so some years later I picked the Tigers as my team, it just made sense.
Well during this NHL season I've heard whispers on my favorite podcasts, "did you see the Lions last night?", "I'm going to the Lions game", there's just been an aura that something special was happening this year. So I decided to do what I always do when something sports related piques my interest; I spent weeks absorbing everything I possibly could about the history of the team, fans, results, stats, everything.
And let me just say; you guys, both the team and the fans, you are amazing. I already loved the Detroit sports fans with my interactions through the wings over the years, but I just thought that was my own bias. The true love and passion for your teams, for your city, it's... Beautiful, that's the only word I can think of.
And the team, the grit, the perseverance, the heart, the camaraderie, the soul and passion they show both on and off the field, these men aren't just doing something special, they are special. Watching Dan Campbell and how he speaks about the team, when he gets emotional and tear up, I'm a dad too and I recognize those tears, this man is all in on his boys and shares in every single joy and sadness they feel.
I wasn't there for the lows, I'm sorry for that and I hope it doesn't make me seem like a bandwagoner because I didn't choose not to be a Lions fan for any other reason than I didn't follow NFL. But I'm here now, from the other side of the world, I'll bleed red AND blue for the rest of my days!
In closing, thank you for being an embodiment of what makes sports fandom so great, I hope one day soon I'll be in the stands shoulder to shoulder with my brothers and sisters from the other side of the world cheering for our Lions (Wings, Pistons and Tigers). And finally, the job is not finished, so let's get that DONE! Let's go Lions!!! Kom igjen Løver!!!

Then you've got Sheila Ford Hamp coming in and assembling a great team with all-time greats and leaders, including bringing Chris Spielman into the fold.
Quick puff piece here. She took over in 2020. Patricia was gone in 2020.
Bobby Layne covers this better than I can, but there seems to have been an active change in ownership and who was running the show, not to mention how they did it. BL has been cautiously optimistic over the past couple years and we've watched the turnaround at the top beget these wonderful results.
For goodness' sake, John Dorsey is a Senior Personnel Executive in Detroit. He was GM of the Chiefs and Browns, and is widely regarded as overseeing their turnarounds. The list of football people with a track record of success and knowledge seems long and that success seems hard-won. Ray Agnew, personnel head for the Rams from '17-'21, is assistant GM to Brad Holmes.
It's a dizzying list.

In addition to what Rock posted , Bluto with the pencil in his ear was hired by the previous GM Bob Quinn, who ended up being fired at the same time as Patricia. Quinn now works in the Browns front office as a senior consultant.
Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell were then hired by Hamp after all that.

@rockaction got it mostly right in his take further up. It all started with changing the culture. The best hire Shelia Ford Hamp made was bringing in Spielman in early December, 2020. Togerher they formulated what needed to change. A big part of that was acknowledging the 60+ years of pain. Transparency would be a watchword.
Mike Disner (salary cap guru who eventually became the COO) suggested in early January they look at Brad Holmes from the Rams. Rod Wood was the 4th person on the steering committee but we presume his best trait is he shuts up when the football people are talking.
Those 4 chose Holmes (1/14/2021) and exactly one week later introduced Dan Campbell.

I remember you liking this move. I also remember following along with you guys and hoping that it would work out. You guys in this thread have left a really cool trail for the reader to follow. It's nice to see building and documented excitement rewarded with success. I'm sure you guys are Super Bowl or bust over these next few years, but from the outside looking in, you've sort of already made it.
The NFCCG is a wild accomplishment, probably one beyond your wildest dreams when these moves all went down.

I pull receipts for the positive and correct. I love it.
With the emergence of Iffy and Barnes, I think Brad's first draft has moved up the list as the best draft in Lions history, my initial assessment was it would be top 3.
- Penei is Canton bound
- Saint is all-pro and could produce HOF numbers
- Iffy has recently emerged aa a top safety in the league
- Alim is a monster on the interior and a big reason the Lions run defense is near the top in the league.
- Barnes has also recently come on and is looking like a solid LB.
- Levi has been fighting back injuries and may never reach his potential.
- Jermar was a seventh round pick. Saw limited action, has been injuried and is just kind of hanging on by a thread.
Not counting a seventh rounder, Holmes hit HR's on 4 of 6 picks and got a single on one other.

I think the Lions can beat the 49ers.
The Vikings who played perhaps their best game of the 2023 season was able to beat them. The Lions are a better team than the Vikings by far. They can definitely do it. The 49ers are no joke though. Just hoping the Lions can avoid costly mistakes and out play them. I think they can.

It sounds like Ben going to DC is a done deal. So I am sure Dan Campbell has informed Engstrand whether he is going to be promoted. There is no way you move to an uncertain situation like NE is from one of the best. The culture that Sheila, Brad and Dan is almost a family like environment that is hard to beat.

What Buddys? I want to start drinking but it is too early. Going to wait until the first quarter of Lions game is over before I have a beer. When I am nervous watching a game the beers go down way too fast.
