2025 Detroit Lions: 0-0 HOF Game on tape, as DC said..."We got work to do" (52 Viewers)

Defense is still very suspect. Iffy has hands down been the defensive MVP in recent weeks. Still hoping Duce, Houston, and Irvin will add some playmakers on that side of the ball.

We were able to run the ball against a very good run defense, especially Gibbs. The OL gave Goff a clean pocket. Goff was decent but not great today. Jamo is becoming a consistent contributor, but still not taking advantage of his speed enough. Saint was Saint.

Next week is pretty big, especially if SF loses tomorrow. I hope this team stays hungry and does not lay down since the #3 seed is secure. Moving up to #1 or even #2 makes a big difference in getting a bye or an additional home game. The Dallas game will be a huge tell if this team is ready to be a contender.

When Ceedy Duce comes back it may be at the expense of Kerby Joseph. I don't see how they can take Iffy off the field. He's been the best defensive player on the field the last two weeks and has made several impact plays.

It's a nice problem to have.

Goff was decent but not great today.
I have to disagree here. I thought Goff played a great game. He was 30-40 for 257 and most importantly no turnovers. The Lions were 6/12 on 3rd down and 2/2 on 4th down. They had 5 trips to the red zone and had 4 TDs and a FG.

Given the significance of this win and the fact it was on the road, it was a great performance in my opinion.

My ratings of our top 10 draft picks on their impact to the success of the team, regardless of position picked.

1. Penei. 2021. Becoming the most dominant lineman in the NFL.

2. ARSB. 2021. A pass catching machine. One of the most productive WR in football.

3. LaPorta. 2023. On his way to becoming the best TE in football.

4. Gibbs. 2023. Lightning fast, but yet tough enough to run between the tackles. Leads the league in long runs despite limited touches. Pretty good pass catcher. Could easily flip with LaPorta.

5. Hutch. 2022. One of the top edge rushers at putting pressure on the QB. Awesome motor. Needs help from the other side to get more sacks.

6. Iffy. 2021. When healthy is a force. Tough tackler, great Blitzer and a tough ballhawk.

7. Alim. 2021. A force on the interior of the DL. A huge plus on run defense, and does gets some push on the pass rush.

8. Branch. 2023. Still developing, but a great hands and a tough tackler. Will be a future stud.

9. Jamo. 2022. One of the fastest most elusive players in the NFL. Starting to become a reliable pass catcher, but Goff has not shown the ability to hit him in stride on deep patterns.

10. Houston. 2022. Elite bend and can get around the edge and can close on any QB in the league. Just needs to get healthy and show he can do it consistently. Needs to develop into a more complete player.

When you can get 3 or 4 anchors every year through the draft, you are going to be able to sustain success for a long time. Lions have never come close to drafting this well. 2023 still has guys like Hooker, Campbell, Sorsdal, and Martin who could develop into future stars. Levi may be the closest thing we have to someone who could be a bust. A little to soon to give up on Pascal.

Can’t believe Ifeatu came off the bench & starting playing like an All Pro the last 3 weeks. Dude saved the season.

Still got CJGJ, McNeil & Houston coming back before YE. Defense only gave up 17 yards rushing & came up with big plays all day. 4 sacks, 4 INT, 2 FF.

Quick turnaround for Dallas. They’re very good at home and the early line is +6/52.5. Going to be hard to get up for after such an emotional effort in Minneapolis. If the Lions offense has a clean game I think they can hang with them.

As their 🎁 for winning yesterday the Lions get to spend one day as the #2 seed. Would be quite the upset if Philly lost today but as they say "on any given Monday". Right now Detroit is being listed as having the #30 pick in the 2024 draft.

Dallas is really tough at their place.

Lions have had little success to date going on the road against a good defensive team. But the Cowboys have been showing that they can be beat on the ground and the Lions are capable of doing that.

Lions #4 in rushing offense ypg, Cowboys #19 in rushing defense so good point. But as pointed out above, Lions coming off a close emotional win while Dallas is tough at home and looking to bounce back after a close loss.

I am a little concerned about a letdown but not as much as I was before the 49ers lost. If the Lions beat Dallas, they have a legit chance at the #1 seed. The 49ers should beat Washington this week but they face the Rams in week 18 and that won't be easy.

Kings of the North

12 regular season wins would tie the franchise record (1991)

13 regular + postseason wins would also tie their all-time high

Writing a new history, though - hopefully this is just the beginning of sustained success.

If they somehow win their last two, Coach Campbell will finish his third year at .500 (25-25-1.) Over the last 25 games (19-6) his win % improved from .188 to .480.

I think it was in the 2023 Draft thread (but it may have been here) where I told y'all Detroit got steal with him. Measurables can kiss my *** - he's a fantastic football player and the kind of guy you win with. He may never be the single best player on his team, but he'll be the one the best player(s) look to for leadership. And I am the farthest thing from a Bama shill.

If you could never time him and just watched him play, you would estimate his 40 time to be 4.4 seconds. He plays a lot faster than his recorded time.

Lions seeding odds, based on DVOA

1 seed: 5.9%
2 seed: 22.6%
3 seed: 71.5%

James Houston IV “has a good chance” to start practicing this week per MCDC.

He might be ready for the Viking game, no way Dan plays him this week. I expect Irvin to get called up this week, as they still can call him up two more times? Duece should be ready to play. Unfortunately three of our best DB are safeties. I would put Duece at Corner. Love the play we are getting out of Branch and Iffy to change that.

It will be interesting to see if the Lions can get a good crowd this week at Dallas's AT&T Stadium. Being a holiday weekend and Saturday night game, it will be favorable for people to be able to travel.

I think our offense matches up well against Dallas. We should be able to run the ball, and with our OL seemingly healthy, we should give Goff enough time to go through his progressions and hit the open target. I expect Dallas will generate a turnover or two though.

Whether we have a chance to win, depends largely on if we can generate any QB pressure. Safety blitzes have been our savior the last couple of weeks. Iffy and Branch are two of the best in the league. Dallas will game plan for it, so we will see how it goes. Hopefully we will have Duece and Irvin to help. BTW, Dan Campbell giving AG the game ball last week tells us expect AG around next year.

The narrative is Dallas is the far better team. I think the Lions will make it a better game than the point spread indicates, and has a decent shot to win outright. Take the Lions with the +6 points, bet the over +53.5, and take Gibbs for 80 yards and a TD....+871

Can you imagine the buildup for a Rams-Lion playoff game? The hype would be off the charts. "Staffords return to Detroit" "Goff vs McVeigh" the coach who dumped him.

All that is missing is having Taylor Swift write a song about it.

Taylor Decker did not practice because of a groin injury. Hopefully he just tweaked it because we really need him this week.

Also, the Lions did not start the practice clock for James Houston.

I have my hotel room booked for the weekend of the 13th - I’m going to that damn playoff game, I don’t care how much it costs! Woo hoo!!

Nothing personal, but I hope you don't. I am hoping they are on a bye. But the odds say you will be fine. Should be a mad house especially if the Lions win. Enjoy!

The Houston clock has started today. But there is no way Campbell allows him to play this week. Gardner-Johnson I hope is ready, but Campbell is just using vague terms of being close. Same with Alim.

I hope they elevate Irvin. They have to elevate Badgley. Lots of moving parts. Our defense has been lower tier much of this season (24th scoring, 23rd passing).....but add back Alim, Iffy, Houston, Irvin, and Gardner-Johnson and we could have a legit top 10 defense.

FYI, Super Bowl tickets are starting around $6200 for upper level corner seats....good seats on lower level around the 20 will cost you about $15k each. Really nice seats around the 50 on the lower level start around $22k. Unless my gofundme page goes viral, I will be watching the Lions first super bowl from home.

Houston ruled out for Saturday, as expected.
Gardner-Johnson also ruled out.
Cam Sutton is questionable.

Will be a really long evening without Cam. Really do not want to see Jerry Jacobs and for gods sake no Will Harris.

Ugg, as a Lion fan and someone who is going against Lamb in my FF championship.
