2025 Miami Dolphins - 2-7, The house cleaning starts...bye bye Grier (4 Viewers)

It's pointless to promote the DB or Special Teams Coach, Coach M&M calls most of the plays, the DC for Miami is running mostly dog crap, it's not worth putting anyone else in there
Exactly.

The thought in the offseason was that Weaver would be a good choice if McDaniel got fired during the season. The D overperformed in 2024, 4th in YPG, with no Chubb or Wilkins, no Phillips after game 4. But the defense and ST have been bad in 2025, maybe promote the waterboy.

Also, the last time Miami started 1-7, Miami won 7 straight under Flores in 2021 with Tua at QB, ended up at 9-8. That won't happen under McDaniel.
Yeah. Something is rotten in that locker room.

Kinda starting to wonder if Tua is pulling a Deshawn Watson and just doesn't want to play anymore but still be paid. He hasn't been the same since that knock against Buffalo last year.

$43m in 2024, cash paid by Miami directly to Tua
$51M in 2025, this season
$55M scheduled to be paid out in 2026
After that, Miami owes him nothing guaranteed and can walk away

Ugh. So one more year of ugly, turnover filled football. Maybe, just maybe Tua reboots himself next year and comes back determined? Maybe. Not sure the team will have the patience to find out. Not like they really have a choice though.

Tua Tags 20 of 26 for 200 yds and 4 TDs
Waddle 5/99/TD, looked like he was occupying the defense much of the day
Achane and Gordon combined for 154 total yds, 6 catches, 2 Receiving Touchdowns
The TD catch from Malik Washington was a terrific sign
Mike McDaniel had a good game plan, hope he's ready on a short week to face the Ravens on TNF

Celebrate and enjoy, there haven't been many weeks we could say this
Best win of the season by far for Miami
2-6, still not going anywhere but McDaniel is likely coaching the team thru Thanksgiving now

-If Lamar Jackson couldn't play today...yet they'll run him out there for TNF?

Miami has dropped from 2nd to 5th,
Ravens, Bills and Washington next 3 games, quite possible they lose all three of them
But for tonight, time to knock a cold one back
:banned:

Man that was shocking. Shocking. McDaniel bought him some time with that one. Maybe Raheem Morris is the one who needs to get fired. Blown out by the Panthers and Dolphins

You don't see many Miami fans running in here and posting happy thoughts because unfortunately most of them understand that in a season like this, going from 2nd to 5th in the Draft order when the season is mostly over already, just doesn't help things long term.

-That's the type of hopelessness in Miami these days, you are almost cheering for losses because you have all but given up on Tua, Coach MM, the FO, the owner,
It's pretty bad when you beat a team 34-10 on the road and don't feel all that good about it.

The Dolphins have fired
GM Chris Grier
Interesting move right before the trade deadline.
You can't let him be involved in any trades. This is great timing.
1000%

Wwait till the off season to wheel and deal with a brand new regime....becasue more firings are coming. This thing is being ripped apart to the studs.

Achane is the only guy I want untouchable. Everything else to me is open to discussion. Like the entire front office is gonna be imploded...the head of the snake is gone......the scouting department is next. McDaniel is on borrowed time now.

Those thinking he will be a great OC....think again. His offense is garbage. It's been figured out. Take away the middle and you beat this garbage offense. Starting November of 2023 to yesterdays game this offense has been a joke.

Tua will be here one more year before we cut bait (no one and I mean no one is trading for that turd and that fraudulent contract). So expect to have the highest paid back up in the NFL next season.

Yeah. I keep reading comments about how creative of an OC he is but he seemed like a 1 trick pony to me.

I could not disagree with you two more if I tried.

Your opinion……no worries.

Make it 3  Even when this offense was at its best, it was mostly against the bottom feeders of the league. I don't care where he goes as long as I don't have to see his capri pants and aviators on our sideline anymore.

And let's make it 4

What is so creative about McDaniel's offense?
It's all screens and passes behind the LOS, it's ridiculous

Remember that Coach M&M was not an OC in San Fran, Miami once again hired a Joe Philbin type that was never actually the OC in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers, the "QB Coach"
About the same thing with McDaniel, it's been a great experience for him, he'll get in 4 full seasons as head coach, but he's not a real NFL Head Coach

And I don't think he's an all world play caller/play designer either, this has been a disaster since the start of the '24 season

I don’t think any of you are grasping the limitations of what you do with an offense when Tua is your QB.

Saying McDaniels is not creative under these circumstances when he’s overseen the best years of Tyreeks career, took Jonnu to a level he’s never been and turned his third round RB into a stud is one of more misguided opinions I’ve seen in some time.

Request punters is a scoring position for your league.

As far as keeping MM on, probably makes the most sense as far as maximizing our draft position. Not sure if you gain anything by firing him now so I'm praying this is still gonna happen.

Even if you grant Tua has limitations, you've got to do better than averaging 11.6 points a game without him in 2024. Those were not even close to functional game plans. Often bogged down by the same terrible playcalling in short yardage situations.

Once the NFL figured out his outside zone scheme in mid-23, he never developed an effective counter.

Seems more like he was given the players to run the scheme he wanted (4 of the fastest players in the game) but then couldn't do anything else.

I don't really see the upside. Probably hard enough for Ross to part ways with Grier. Focus the org on the GM search and let the new GM make the coaching decision.

I fully grasp how limited Tua is LOL….no matter that’s who he hitched his wagon to as he had no choice when he was hired. However he has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he is no leader of “men” and is a horrendous situational play caller and strategist.

He is the suck like Tua and this front office.

Jonnu was a benefactor of a career year.

Tyreek will strive anywhere. The guy is elite. Well not anymore. TJ at leg injury is horrific and I think he will never ever be the same player again.

McDaniel has proven he is a flash in the pan.

I think they really like McDaniel, but he may not be with them on draft day. He won’t have any problem getting a job as an OC if he is fired and I can very easily see him getting another head coaching job in the future. Not that he deserves it, but recycled young coaches probably have more value than geezers. I think he is perceived as a promising coach even if he isn’t proving this year.

I'm going to take this one by one:

no matter that’s who he hitched his wagon to as he had no choice when he was hired
Not how I see it. He's the QB he was tasked with saving after he looked like a total flop and until the concussions hit he actually did it. He's not someone that McDaniels chose.

However he has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he is no leader of “men”
That's subjective and has more to do with being a head coach which is where I think people are confusing the qualifications of that job with that of an OC.

horrendous situational play caller and strategist.
Again subjective and just not remotely how I see it.

Jonnu was a benefactor of a career year.
I don't know what that means but what I said stands, he oversaw a career breakout year by him and what I did not say is because McDaniels maximized every bit of offensive talent he could.

Tyreek will strive anywhere. The guy is elite.
Strive yes. Being more productive then you were with Mahomes and Andy Reid, no. That's just refusing to give credit where it's due IMO.

McDaniel has proven he is a flash in the pan.
Maybe as a HC, maybe, but it's not what I'm talking about.

Time will tell about MM as an OC. I don't care either way as long as he's not here. He's clearly not HC material and there's no way I could see him just getting demoted. Has that ever happened?
He seems like a good guy and is a real players coach. He’ll go somewhere in the Shanny tree. Probably get another shot soon

Achane is the only guy I want untouchable. Everything else to me is open to discussion.
I'd let Achane go for a 2nd rounder in a heartbeat. Don't get me wrong, I love what the guy is doing but he will be worn out and broken down by the time they are good enough to make use of him and they'll have to pay him. New GM and coach in 2026 but they likely aren't going to be in position to draft the next QB unless they lose out, which keeping Achane helps prevent. If they don't get "the" QB in the draft then 2026 is a wasted year until Tua is off the books and you hopefully figure out QB either by draft or free agency in 2027. If it is by draft you have a year of QB growing pains so you are looking at 2028 until you are likely ready to get back in the hunt. Take a second rounder and hopefully the new GM is better at finding OL talent and start building. Everyone would be available if I was in charge.

How does GM interviews and hiring work, is there a freeze period like there is for coaches that you can't interview during the playoffs if their team is still active? Ross needs to get on these interviews and get the guy in place so even if he is still at his old job he can start getting his ducks in a row.

Alec Halaby from the Eagles is the guy I would go after. Roseman is the best GM in football and Halaby has been his right hand man.

Makes sense. Agree.

Jaelan Phillips traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for a '26 3rd round pick
-Happy for Phillips, assuming he can stay healthy he stands a good chance to experience a deep Playoff run as Philly attempts to win B2B titles
On a team with as much talent as they have, Phillips should find success these last 8-9 weeks and the Playoffs
For a player entering free agency, good chance to showcase his skills

Miami gets a pick they can use in the Draft next year, Phillips was taken 18th overall in 2021, his best season was 7 sacks or thereabout
I have a good feeling he's gonna look great in a green uniform, best of luck to him

Good move by the new GM. The Herald says Grier didn't want to trade Phillips.

We get the Philly 2026 3rd rounder, versus a max of a 2027 3rd round comp pick IF Phillips were lost in free agency and IF he stayed healthy for the next 2 years. Good for Philly, they might resign him, if not they potentially get the 2027 comp.

Who's next? I think Fitzpatrick, he's playing at a high level. Now we have a high 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, three 3rds.

I say deal Minkah, Chubb (if we even can) and Waddle. Fire sale for picks.

Rasul Douglas has been playing at a very high level, not sure what they can get for him, if he's relatively cheap then they need to offer him a short extension 1-2 years
He's been pretty good most of the season, stands out in that mess of a Secondary

Wonder if there is a market for Jordyn Brooks? He's probably having the best season on the roster.

Miami now has 5 picks in the Top 100 including 3 third round picks

Miami now has 5 picks in the Top 100 including 3 third round picks
6 picks in the top 105, if they keep losing.
Sell off a few more pieces and that could be 8 which would allow you some ability to move around and get a solid 5 or 6 guys. Now the key is getting the right GM and talent evaluation in place.
And the more top 50-100 picks and the flexibility to send MM packing should be very appealing to potential candidates. Also Grier kept his job a long time, that's appealing
I'm not worried about them having Tua next season, the new GM will figure out an exit plan, either a trade partner where we pick up a lot of salary, a release Post June 1st and divide the cap hit over a couple years but it's not the end of the world
