"I didn't do sh!t"

Could have done without the Tua props at the end but whatever
-Coach MM is winning me over slowly
Does Miami have the money to give him 50 a year?Lamar Jackson will be on the market........keep an eye on that. He would be ridiculous here with these weapons.....would be insane. Not sold on Tua....still.

more accurate numbers...Betting on himself.... rough numbers below all guaranteed.
23M this year.
32M 2023?
45M 2024?
I await pff grades, especially on the oline and dline. I think the oline was below average, the dline very good. The WRs were very good, RBs had no holes, but are better than last year. Jalen Phillips had the fumble recovery, but was out of position on the TD pass and couldn't generate pressure vs Trent Brown, who's very good. He was outplayed by Ingram IMO. Phillips may be a player without a position - not good vs the run at DE, and not a great fit as a coverage LB. Maybe he becomes just a 3rd down pass rushing specialist, I hope I'm wrong. The secondary with X, Holland, and the undrafted guys was good. Kahou made some nice plays vs the run and pass. Noah was inactive - he's gone in 2023 - Surtain and Madison haven't been able to save him thus far.
Tua. He has a very quick release, that was on college tape and analytics from his AL days. He has good progression, in a clean pocket. That's why he excels in practice, where Judon is not in his face. His 20-50 yard passes are accurate when he can set his feet. His biggest problems occur when the pocket breaks down and he makes bad decisions when there are defenders are in his face. Barry Jackson's breakdown also showed that Tua has been bad throwing to the right. If the oline doesn't improve, Miami and Tua will not win games vs teams that can score. If we're out of the playoff race later in the year, Skylar should start a few games. He impressed since day 1 in camp and in preseason. This is not Reid Sennett who had a great last preseason game, was scooped by the Eagles, and is now out of a job.
If I am Miami.......and Tua is not the answer (I already have known this since the day we freaking drafted him over Herbert) we go and trade for Lamar Jackson...whatever it takes. Sorry...but the window is right freaking now with this defense and these weapons. Football you have a three year window and the clock is ticking as this is year 1 of that window. We can’t shlep around here with an average QB. We need a guy that as a league MVP.....and would be just ridiculous in this offense with all this speed.Thank You!Lamar won't be available until 2025 if the Ravens do what the Vikings did with cousins IIRCDoes Miami have the money to give him 50 a year?Lamar Jackson will be on the market........keep an eye on that. it's unreal the way the narrative is played out in the media and the casual NFL fan. He could have been extended and received an 8 figure signing bonus at least 12 months ago at this point and every day is costing that guy interest and long term prosperity. I cannot understand what is happening in his head.
Sign a short contract with a big bonus in case you get hurt!. No insurance policy is going to cover him for catastrophic injury, he's rolling the dice every Sunday that he won't get hurt, it's absolutely ridiculous. And he plays the position in a way that exposes him and so I doubt he ever makes it all the way tot he Super Bowl. But he's highly entertaining and helps Baltimore win football games. We get to see him up close next week in their home opener? Should be a wonderful test for our defense.
Watch a Bengals game and see how Joe Burrow handles the same exact thing. My very limited takes as I only got to see what Red Zone broadcast and will need to wait until NFL Network shows the replay to see more.
Overall - B, It's a win and over the Pats. Yea they aren't the Brady Pats of old but they also aren't the Jets. These are the games you need to make sure you win to be a playoff team and it was never really in doubt. I absolutely LOVED the play call at the end of the first half to go for it on 4th down, our past coaches wouldn't have done that and it paid off.
Defense - B+/A-, they were really good but again limited with what I saw they seemed to give up too many chunk plays especially on 3rd down. The Pats converted 44% of third downs that is going to bite you if it keeps up. Overall however they look as good or better then under Flo.
O-line - D, couldn't open up the run game and Tua seemed to always be under pressure. They need to at least get to average for this team to be a playoff contender and to see what Tua's ceiling is.
Skill Players - B, love the speed and quickness at WR and I thought Edmunds and Mostert were good catching the ball, just need a way to find an average run game. TE we obviously don't have our Kittle weapon yet.
Tua, B-/C+, efficient and got the job done. still taking sacks he can't take and the fumble that was fortunately recovered. Still hard to tell when he always seems to have under 2 seconds to throw way too often.
Ravens up next are another good test, they looked bad against the Jets for a good part of that game until the hit a couple big plays. Couldn't run the ball at all other then a couple big plays the passing game was below average. They are much like us a very good defense and questionable offense.
I actually was thinking the same thing about Green Bay.If 88 is not going to part of the gameplan, and I am not jumping to that conclusion after one game, but the coaching staff knows...then they should trade him right now while he still has value. If he has a 40 catch season with 450 yards and 2 TDs, you will struggle to get a 6th rounder for him.
ETA - Green Bay seems like somewhere that he could flourish. They have no weapons for Rodgers and I think they have decent OL depth so there may be some synergy there.
Oh I agree he still needs to do more but there are very few QB's that can play consistently well behind a bad line. Burrow was amazing last year doing but yesterday looked bad at times against a bad Steelers team under pressure. 4 INTs including a pick 6, you could say he cost them the game. Would I take Burrow over Tua, 365 days a year but bad o-lines can make even really good QB's look bad. Where as with the defense we have and the speed on offense if Tua can be a top 10 to 14 QB we can compete.Watch a Bengals game and see how Joe Burrow handles the same exact thing. My very limited takes as I only got to see what Red Zone broadcast and will need to wait until NFL Network shows the replay to see more.

As far as the Ravens.....yeah we have never matched up well against that defense. I am confident our defense can keep it close......but Tua is going to be running for his life. And the problem is.....he ain’t that fast and he is terrible....terrible under any kind of duress and his throwing fundamentals are awful when under pressure. He has terrible mechanics when under pressure....never follows thru on his throws. I watched Kurt Warner do a detailed video breakdown on him.....he exposed exactly what I am talking about. His feet are pointing one way while he throws the other way......that is why he under throws guys and sometimes the ball takes forever to get there.....it is his mechanics. Anyway enough Tua bashing.......the results on the field will either prove me right or wrong on this guy.
Absolutely agree. I just don’t trust Tua is a true leader of men and can win in the absolute biggest pressure situations. Simply don’t see it. He is more of a role player QB.....the days of Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer and Phil Simms types winning Super Bowls in the modern NFL (pass the ball at will type league) are long gone.Oh I agree he still needs to do more but there are very few QB's that can play consistently well behind a bad line. Was discussing with other Phins over lunchThis is reactionary for sure, but I wonder what Dallas would give up for Teddy B right now. Dak is out 6-8 weeks and that's that for their season. Maybe TB could salvage it for them while they wait. Low salary, as opposed to Jimmy G. Cooper Rush is gritty but I am pretty sure they don't want to roll him out for half of their season. Unfortunately, Dallas cannot afford to part with any OL, which is all I really want for this team right now. Maybe a 4th or 5th round pick?
Miami still has the Niners 1st rd pick. I hope Shanahan is due for one of those down years.
But Miami still has a 1st, still has a 2nd and still has Two 3rd Rd picks in 2023. I don't know where Mike Gesicki would play a role in all of this assuming Miami was willing to trade him. Not sure what you can get for a slot receiver masking as a Tight End.
Green Bay jumped to the front of my short list. I don't want to trade Gesicki but I also don't want to pay him a lot of money if he doesn't do what we need done in this Offense. I wish they had brought in someone to push him for snaps or did all the blocking in this offense at MAX so we could see what we're missing.
Green Bay seems like somewhere that he could flourish. They have no weapons for Rodgers and I think they have decent OL depth so there may be some synergy there.
I actually was thinking the same thing about Green Bay.
Once again, you bring the best tidbits and data over from Twitter, I thoroughly enjoy when you do this and leave the source so we can find it for ourselves and subscribe.@ckparrot twitter thread on personnel...
Dolphins spent 20 of 59 plays in “21” personnel (2 RBs, 1 TE). Three of those plays they had both Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds on the field. They had 11 passes for 66 yards from 21 personnel, and 9 runs for 31 yards.
They spent 11 plays in “12” personnel with 1 RB and 2 TEs. The results were dismal. They had 7 passes for 20 yards and 4 runs for -4 yards. There were 24 plays in “11” personnel: 16 passes for 156 yards (wow), and 8 runs for 38 yards (4.8 ypc not bad.

The Mike Gesicki puzzle continues unsolved. Dolphins only ran 6 times for 0 yards with him on the field. But when he was on field in “11” personnel, they gained 120 yards on 13 pass plays. His presence in the passing game continues to be valuable, and this is a passing league.
Connor Williams has found his calling at Center. I believe he recovered the Tua sack-fumble but I could be wrong.Oline issues at LG. From Ryan Smith of PFF.
>>LG Liam Eichenberg had a rough opener, finishing the game with a 29.8 overall grade (lowest on offense) It was worse than any game from his 2021 rookie season - it’s clear there are still some major concerns along the OL in Miami
... center Connor Williams - team-high 82.3 overall grade - 86.8 run-blocking grade - 0 penalties
Offense: 1. Connor Williams (team-high 82.3) 2. Jaylen Waddle 3. Tyreek Hill
Defense: 1. Melvin Ingram 2. Emmanuel Ogbah 3. Zach Sieler *No real “elite” performances but a lot of good ones for Miami<<
Great point, Miami has the Niners 1st round pick and they looked terrible yesterday. I'm sure they won't be a Top5 pick in the Draft type team, but they don't look up to the task right now of the NFC West...wait a minute though, who is? AZ, LAR and SF all lost, Seattle would be in 1st place if they win tonight, fat chance vs Denver.Another positive for Dolphins fans..... SF is now 0-1.
The play when AJackson got rolled up on.
Center and BOTH Guards engage Wilkins in the middle as Sieler gets the credit for the TFLWilkins is primed for a big year (next year is his rookie option year) not necessarily in the stats columns…
Actually TT, I believe Miami is a Road Dog, the game is in Baltimore.a nice opportunity for sure. I believe the key to the game will boil down to whether or not Miami can win both sides of the trenches.
Miami home dogs +3.5.
edited... thx, MoPActually TT, I believe Miami is a Road Dog, the game is in Baltimore.
Herbert's issues as a prospect were he was too tepid despite having top notch tools. With the mind screwing our offensive coaches put young QBs through the last 3 years, not to mention the lack of protection and weapons, we'd have ruined him in Miami. We did the league a favor passing on him imo.If two of those three picks were Herbet and Jonathan Taylor......we are not even having this conversation.
They did win this past weekendBig freaking problems at both tackle spots already......Brothers....if Armstead is out we got some big problems coming.
Agree about Austin......great draft in 2020 Grier......guys get fired for that.
WHIFFS not 1, not 2, but three first rounders in the same draft.
Brilliant.
If two of those three picks were Herbet and Jonathan Taylor......we are not even having this conversation.
If they stay at #3 and thake Pitts or Chase......we are talking about us, Buffalo and KC and who goes to the Super Bowl.
Instead.....we are still talking about can our OL block....how long will Tua start (and flutter balls) until his next injury......and why we can’t run the ball.
Same ****....different year. MOP is right about Ross. As long as he and his family own this team......we are never getting out of this black hole of failure.
Great being a Dolphins fan.....isn't it?
