2025 Miami Dolphins - Week 2; Time to burn it down? (23 Viewers)

Asst Coach, doubt he will be with the team the rest of the season

You're probably right. Serious matter, but an estimated 1 in 10 accusations of domestic abuse are false.

I've saw it first hand with an in-law just 3 months ago, cost him about ~$10k, with a mark on his record making it hard to apply for new jobs until expungement in 6 months. Hard worker, lost gig job with Uber Eats. It was her word, his word, only marks were on him. Case dropped after 2 months and $10k. Cops arrested the wrong person.

-He is in the booth with color commentary on the radio with Jimmy Cefalo.
Rose caught Marino's 1st ever TD pass in '83.
He makes his living thru the Miami Dolphins so he does not typically throw them under the bus, he has to work with these people in some capacity
This is one of the bleakest outlooks I have heard from him.

-This is as. local as you will get, folks driving around in their cars in the morning have this guy on at 6-7am, that's the voice of local Miami during the early morning hours.
Especially when it comes to the Miami Dolphins.

IF everything works out, and we stay healthy, we are a playoff team. Not unlike about 11 of the 16 teams in the AFC.

On offense, the big IFs are Tua staying healthy, Jonah Savaiinaea improving (a weak link), and Patrick Paul continuing his year 2 assent. Those things are correlated.

On defense, the front 7 is a strength, the big IFs are the young CBs mixed in with some cheap older guys.

Injuries derailed Miami, I think more than other teams. Ross tampering cost us a 1st and a 3rd, and Grier has missed on many early picks. You were one of the few who had Herbert over Tua.

The defensive draftees, Grant, Phillips, Marshall, all will contribute. Maybe DC Weaver had a say, he could be an interim coach if Miami has a slow start.

Ok. Let's look at week 1. Playing the Colts who might as dysfunctional as Miami or worse. Game breakdown:

QB - Advantage Miami, no much to see here. Tua is healthy and plays well against bad teams, Indy has cast off Daniel Jones and what may go down as the second worse first round QB pick ever (behind JaMarcus Russell) in Richardson.

RB - Advantage Indy, if Achane was 100% it might be closer to even but he's likely not so edge to JT and the Colts.

WR - Advantage Miami, colts WR's aren't bad but Miami is more explosive and Colts WR still need someone to get them the ball.

TE - Toss Up, rookie Tyler Warren vs comeback Waller. I don't think anyone knows what to expect here.

OL - Advantage Indy, they have one of the better OL's in football.

DL - Slight edge Miami, since we presume the are healthy to start the season Miami's edge rushers should be an advantage.

LB - Edge Miami, Phins are nothing special but Colts are one of the worse units in the league.

Secondary - Edge Colts, opposite of the LB's, Colts are adequate but Dolphins are a huge question.

Overall looks to be a pretty even game but the fact the Dolphins should be able to be a little more two dimensional offensively is where they are going to have a chance to get the advantage. Have a friend that is a bigger better and also a Colts fan and he said no way he takes the Colts. They have been lousy opening week. He's going Dolphins out right.

Miami +1 right now. o/u 46.5

Phins 24-Colts 20 or something like that is what I anticipate
It's gonna be very competitive, just feel like Miami has a little more explosion on offnese
If the Phins lose rather easily Week 1 on the road, then Miami is in for a long season.
Miami could go 5-1/7-2 early before they hit a stretch of games where they will be lucky to win 1 of 3.
If they limp thru the early part of their schedule at 3-4, then they are heading for 6-11/7-10 territory.
I have Miami at about 9-8, they won't be so terrible they can go draft a QB but it also will be apparent they can only go so far under Coach Mikey

I agree with all you have here except the bolded. Colts have Deforrest Buckner and Grover Stewart on the interior DL. You'd be hard pressed to find two better. The Colts edge players are the question mark. Though Paye is a pretty good player and Latu is expected to take a 2nd year leap. Latu was another questionable draft pick by this franchise. Dude didn't think he'd ever play football again due to his neck injury. Jury is still out on him though.

Secondary may be a push. They've had a ton of injuries at the CB position thus far. So bad that they just signed Xavien Howard who didn't even play last year and he is now in the starting lineup!

I say Miami runs away with this game. Colts are a mess! Not only at the QB spot, but the LB and CB...yikes!

24-20 sounds about right to me. I'm all in on an Ollie Gordon TD this week. He may only get 5 carries but one of them finds pay dirt.

My word, I have no idea what to say about your coach. I actually have always liked him, but he just threw all the players under the bus after the loss. I get that maybe it is their fault, but you have to take some responsibility with them. He sounds like he wants to get fired sometime tomorrow.

They made Daniel Freaking Jones look like Peyton Manning out there! I can guarantee you no one was expecting that...not even the Colts! Their identity starts with their capri wearing head coach. Pretty soft and dainty.

Xav Howard who didn't play at all in 2024, managed to make Tua fumble this past Sunday just to add insult to injury

-Coach M&M should have been fired last season but he wasn't, lost Tua for a chunk of the season and it exposed how bad the team was.
Tua wasn't that great the 2nd half of last season, he was only throwing to Jonnu Smith it felt like

-It's been 365+ days since Tyreek Hill has made a catch for over 30 yds with the Phins...think about that

-It's obvious that Ross prefers having a lap dog with how he handled Brian Flores vs keeping Chris Grier on as his GM and VP, been with the organization since 2003
Miami has never won a Playoff game since he entered the building. He's been the GM for 10 years now, WHY? It's not normal

Ross is 85 years old and turning West Palm Beach into his personal playground now, he lives in NYC and comes down for the home games.
He has no idea what he's doing and now we find out his 2 daughters are set to inherit the team, any chance they would sell?
It's a nightmare for the last 25 years and it likely is going to continue for the next 25 years

-Whoever replaces Grier and M&M, you won't see much change with Miami. Maybe they can draft better but the leadership at the top s putrid

And just something to ponder as many will say, Miami on a beeline for the No 1 pick potentially...
-Peyton Manning wiped his butt with this franchise when Ross wanted to make him an offer as he left the Colts
Manning laughed and would not get on a plane or meet face to face with Ross

Do you think Arch Manning is going to want to be taken by the Phins? It could be like Eli when the Bolts drafted him and the family said he's not playing there.
It's a better QB class then this past one we saw, seems like a lot of young arms are coming into the league faster and in bunches, be a shame for Miami not to get one

Remember, this team was on a beeline for Joe Burrow in 2020 when they were 0-7...and they ended up going 5-4 down the stretch winning meaningless games and sliding to No 5
-They could have had Herbert at No 5 and went Tua with a dislocated hip socket

It's an ongoing nightmare and Grier has squandered so many resources time and time again not to mention Stephen Ross himself set the franchise back
Losing our1st and 3rd round draft picks, we mayb never know what the NFL truly uncovered in their "investigation"

Time to burn it all down.

1. Trade Tyreek (maybe a 3rd rounder from KC or someone needing a speed guy.
2. Trade Achane, he is one of your only decent pieces but by the time they rebuild and get good again he will be used up. Hope that a playoff team loses a RB before the deadline and get a 2nd or 3rd for him.
3. Shop Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips before they get hurt, take what you can get to build the draft pot coffers.
4. Wait for Tua to get hurt so you can play Ewers and see if he is at last the answer as a backup QB long term. If Tua somehow makes it to the bye but has been playing like this last week just make the switch.
5. If they lose to the Jets to fall to either 1-3 or 0-4 fire coach and GM by the next morning. If they somehow are 2-2 after that game wait until after week 11 before the bye if anything worse then 6-5. Still gives you time to get a head start on looking on who you want to bring in.
6. Counter sue Brian Flores for costing us draft picks (just because I can't stand the hypocrite and it would make me feel better).

Unfortunately can't do a thing about the owner and no one wants a fragile Tua or Waddle so going to need to eat those. New GM and coach have to be able to find the next QB and able to find a way to trade up and get the Joe Burrow when you are close.

Dave Wannstedt 2000-2004
-Last Head Coach to win a Playoff game to my recollection, vs the Colts and Lamar Smith was the MVP? OMG, Jay Fiedler was our QB, wasn't he?
-Ricky Williams era, Wannstedt burned him up se he burned out

Jim Bates had to finish out the 2004 season

Nick Saban 2005-2006
-Signed Culpepper over Drew Brees
-Told everyone he was not going to be the next Alabama Head Coach

Cam Cameron 2007
-1 season, went 1-15 and earned Miami the No 1 pick in the Draft. Phins took Jake Long at Left Tackle over Matt Ryan at QB
-"You're gonna like Tedd Ginn Jr" as Cameron addressed the Phins fans booing as they passed on Patrick Willis HoF and Darrelle Revis HoF

Tony Sporano 2008-2011
-Almost 4 seasons as Head Coach, finally some stability
-He's passed away so i won't poke too much fun at him, he loved a Field Goal and was a Bill Parcells minion who was running the Miami Dolphins at the time

Todd Boles 2011
-Interim for 3 games, went 2-1.
-Coached the Jets to little success and then inherited the Bucs after they won the Super Bowl

Joe Philbin 2012-2015. This one is the one I want you to focus on (Ross is the sole owner at this point...History repeats itself.
This guy was the "QB Coach" for Green Bay, was never the OC and he failed miserably here
He was not that hot of a commodity for Head Coach even if other teams interviewed him and eventually he lost control of Miami and the locker room
This was when Richie Gate was going on

Dan Campbell 2015, yes that Dan Campbell although not the one you see right now
-Ran the Oklahoma Drill on Day 1 of practice. I think you're not allowed to run that any more
-Still looks like he could knock the crap out of anyone on the team that gets out of line

Adam Gase 2016-2018
-Pattern of about 3 years continues with the current owner

Brian Flores 2019-2021
-Everyone knows I think he was superior to McDaniel and his work in Minnesota as DC proves it to me.
Coach M&M has never been an OC, he's like Philbin and he's about to lose the locker room

Countdown to the end of Coach M&M, 2022-Present
-Looked good for about a month in Septmember 2 seasons ago and it's been downhill ever since

This was a fun one for a bit. I remember winning a FF championship while the Dolphins clinched the East and a lot of fans were in the bar.

I would think he could be moved to the Goodell-Commish Exempt List
at the same time Mike Florio reports....

If true Miami should hit the accept button on the trade immediately

If any team seriously gives up draft capital with this lunatic's circus that he brings deserves to deal with the exempt list. I mean, why would you volunteer for this? That's nuts. Pittsburgh stinks. Aaron Rodgers had the lowest aDOT of any quarterback last week except for one (I forget who). He wasn't even averaging five yards per pass in the air.

It's a joke. I actually feel somewhat insulted by how stupid the Steelers are. They're not a good team. You let the Jets outgain you and spank you in every measure but the final. And you're building a house on that foundation? Holy criminy.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but never underestimate the desire to win. Someone is gonna give up a draft pick. As a selfish Mahomes investor, I'm hoping Chiefs.

Yeah, sure, but I guess I just don't feel like hearing a fan base complain or whine about how he shouldn't be on the list and is innocent and all that crap. It's really me. I'm weary of it at this point. This guy has so often just been in and out of garbage and I'd rather he just go away. It's a personal feeling I have about Hill at this point, and if you go back here through the years you can see me defend him. That stopped a while back.

Life is better when I don't have to hear about or from this dude.

I was going to ask you to change the title this week to "Season's Over" but you did an outstanding job
Greg Cote thinks they could beat the Pats this week and be 1-1 on Monday

-2 at home which means Vegas thinks the Patriots actually have the edge

Much of the Phins issues could be solved with a strong OL, that's how we got in this mess on offense
