2025 NFL Coaches on the hot seat & Front Office changes (1 Viewer)

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn have been relieved of their duties effective immediately per Atlanta falcons

Jets coach Adam Gase said he's "considering everything" to get the team headed in the right direction.

Gase even admitted that he's "toyed" with the idea of relinquishing play-calling duties to OC Dowell Loggains. We'll believe it when we see it. The 0-5 Jets have exceeded 17 points once this year, insistently leaning on the league's fourth-highest rate of 11 personnel despite only having Jeff Smith, Jamison Crowder, Braxton Berrios, and Chris Hogan available for a majority of the year. Meanwhile the team's defense has been gutted for at least 27 points in every game. With Sam Darnold (shoulder) sidelined for the time being and Le'Veon Bell at odds with his own coach on social media, the 2020 Jets are clearly the laughingstock of the league due to Gase's ongoing reign.

Sounds like a dare to me.

@Demetrius82: #Jaguars HC Doug Marrone says that as long as he’s the head coach DC Todd Wash “is safe.”

I said this last week and I'll say it again as it deserves repeating. I was around for the Kotite Jets and in 1996 when they went 1-15. That '96 team if they played this 2020 version of the Jets team 10 times would win 9 if not all 10 of them as they were light years better than this years version of the Jets.

Now how f'd up is that to say that even a 1-15 team is light years better than your current version? That's absolutely insane folks but it's the truth. That '96 Kotite team actually had some really good players. I'm not going to name them all but they had guys like Keyshawn, Chrebet, Jumbo Elliot, Adrian Murrell, Mo Lewis...etc. This 2020 Jet team has Jamison Crowder and at times Sam Darnold...that's pretty much it folks. Oh wait my bad I do think the punter Braden Mann has a chance to be special. I mean the talent differential compared to this year's version of the Jets was bigtime advantage to the Kotite Jets and it's not even in the same stratosphere. I'm gagging and have acid reflux as I say this but it's the facts....haha

I'd say that after 6 games and I said this last week after 5 games that this Jets team is either the worst team in NFL history or if not, it's in the top 3-4 worst ever. I have no empirical data to quantify this statement of mine...none!. All I'm going by is almost 50 years of watching football and I can honestly say I don't recall ever seeing a team as bad and that includes the 0-16 versions of the Lions and Browns teams that achieved those "glorious" distinction at different times this past decade. This team is most definitely going to threaten that mark and very very easily could join the 0-16 club before all is said and done.

And what's really sad is that unlike 1996 as most of us who were around at the time knew, there actually was some talent to build around and we just needed Kotite to ge the F out of town which thank god he did get canned and Parcells came in and turned things around. This situation tho well it's not going to get any better either for at least a few years even if we brought in by some godly intervention a Dabo Sweeny or a Lincoln Riley and Trevor Lawrence actually agrees to come here which I'm still not convinced he will.

So us Jet fans should just buckle up and hope and pray we continue to suck, Gase continues to call horrible plays and we get the #1 overall and probably the right thing too do would be to trade it away for the motherload because that's pretty much the only way it will be quicker than 3 years before this team of ours became even relevant let alone a winning football team.

As some orange headed dude in Washington DC has made famous..."it is what it is" and we might as well get comfy and get used too it here in Jetland cause things aint changing anytime soon.

I know most of y'all hate hockey but for those like me who are Jet,Met, Knicks and Rangers fans,, thank the good lord that the NY Rangers exist otherwise I'd be ready for one of those white suits and and residence in one of those insane asylums...that's how bad being a NY fan is these days!...lol

When does Zimmer's seat start to warm up?
He was 10-6 and made the playoffs last year, he's not going anywhere with one bad season. He and Doug Pederson in the same boat - they won't be on the hot seat after one season, but they better have a solution to fix their problems for next year.

Yeah agree

you can remove Patricia from the thread title - he's met the Ford's success quota for 2020
@BobbyLayne - You could be correct with this statement - refresh my memory again on what that minimum bar is that the Ford family set for measuring success for the season?

Current owner/chairwoman Shelia Ford Hamp did not quantify with specificity what it would take for Quinn & Patricia to be retained. My comment was in jest, it is maddening trying to discern what the Ford’s expectations might be.

Her June comments below when she took over the team from her mother.

"We expect to be a playoff contender (in 2020), and those are our expectations, which we’ve expressed to both Bob and to Matt," then-owner Martha Ford said to a small group of reporters after the 2019 season.

The organization believed Quinn and Patricia needed more time in order to continue the "progress" they had made.

At her introductory Zoom press conference, new principal owner Sheila Ford Hamp provided more detail regarding the "win-now" mandate established by upper management.

"I don't want to say anything about wins and losses. We want to see major improvement. I can't really say what those specific measures are going to be. I don't know what the season is going be like yet. Believe me, major improvement is the goal."

In regards to changes she wants to make, she commented, "I want to take a deeper dive into the organization, so I can really know and understand. I don't have a particular agenda in mind of changes. I just want to understand and know better, and then be able to make better informed decisions on my own about if things need to be done or changed. But, I don't have a hit list or anything right now. So, I want to be a learner to begin with."

I think the Jets want to send out Gase as a winner which is why they are waiting to fire him

Keeping Gase employed until the end of the season virtually assures the Jets of securing the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jets fans are eagerly waiting to watch Rodger Goodell step up to the podium to say “With the first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Clemson.”

NFL Network's Jane Slater reports Cowboys players have begun forcefully criticizing the coaching staff after originally agreeing to "keep things internal."

“Totally unprepared," were the words of one player. "They don’t teach. They don’t have any sense of adjusting on the fly.” Another added “they just aren’t good at their jobs." Other than that, we hope things are going well. New coach Mike McCarthy sold an offseason narrative of coming into the 21st century and learning analytics, but none of the analytics in the world can make up for having Mike Nolan as your defensive coordinator. The Cowboys have allowed an astonishing 218 points through their first six games, which is tied for the fourth most in NFL history. Dak Prescott's season-ending ankle injury gives McCarthy an alibi, but this could turn into a one-and-done situation. It wouldn't be the first time with a retread. Of course, all of this ignores that the 2-4 Cowboys still sit atop the horrid NFC East.

So Patricia has a few years before she learns enough about football to decide he isn't the answer.

That was a long winded way of saying I don't know and I don't know how I should be making such a decision yet. I am working on that.

This is the 4th member of the Ford family to be chairman of the Lions since 1963. All of them have been exceedingly patient (aka clueless & indecisive.) In his 4th year former MSU coach Darryl Rogers (18-40, .310) once wondered aloud to a gaggle of reporters “I don’t know what you have to do to get fired around here.”

Patricia’s (10-25-1, .297) record is worse.

In these dark days where there seems to be little hope for my favorite team the Vikings, I can still take a little bit of solace from the fact that at least they are not the Lions.

Jets coach Adam Gase gave up playcalling duties for Week 7 against Buffalo.

Gase has called plays since taking over last year. With New York off to an 0-6 start, he'll relinquish duties to OC Dowell Loggains. The move to Loggains is unlikely to make much difference for the tanking Jets.
