2025 Philadelphia Eagles - LB in the first round??? (25 Viewers)

So relieved Baun re-signed before Free Agency started! He was the one pending FA they had to get back! Live that he signed for this deal, and love that Howie is doing all the right things, as usual.

Now, bring Milton back!
Call me crazy, but signing him and Barley so early screams of us wanting to make a trade at the draft. Meaning, we need to know EXACTLY what money we have/not-have before anything splashy

/me squints in the general direction of Myles

Can't agree more with this. The Eagles had Trotter JR as the only healthy signed LB (that can play) before re-signing Baun.

Would LOVE to also get Burks back on a cheap deal, but I'm thinking he might want to reach FA to test his market value first.

I think there is a 75% chance we at least get back one of Milton Williams/Sweat back at this point too. It would be very odd to me if we lost 2 homegrown high level DL players in the same offseason, that is also coming off a Super Bowl Title.

In Howie We Trust.

The way the cap numbers drop dramatically after June 1 makes me truly believe the Eagles and Browns will not consummate a deal before draft day.

What I feel is a more likely scenario is the Eagles are not active in FA, collect up some 2026 comp picks, trade down in the draft and somehow acquire an extra 2026 or 2027 1st round pick and THEN we make some sort of offer before TC that goes like Huff, Jets 2026 3rd, whatever 1st we get from trading down + our own 2026 1st.

We keep our 2nd and hopefully our own 3rd and we get some other 3rd round comp picks in 2026 to offset us not having picks at top of the draft.

errr...something like this

Not sure the Dotson situation but wouldn't mind taking a look at Christian Kirk if the money is right. Feels like we've had the worst WR3 in the league for as long as I can remember haha.

Gotta be honest, I'm very surprised by this, not by by them re-signing him, but they doing it so cheaply. I figured he'd leave, because he'd command 20+ mill yearly.

Wow, reasonable money too. I thought for sure someone was going to overpay for him.

Surprised at amount. He must love it here

I do get that markets reset, and am happy with the amount, but I don't consider it that crazy how much money he got.

He is now the 6th highest paid LB in NFL history, and currently only Ravens LB Roquan Smith ($20 million) 49ers LB Fred Warner ($19 million) and Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds ($18 million) make more than him in the league.

I'd say that's pretty awesome to be among those names after 1 good year.

Saquon gets extra paid.
Thank god the Eagles have learned from their mistakes ...

Remember TO wanting to get paid after setting Eagles records while on that ****ty contract?

Remember Dawkins leaving for like 100k more?

Pay your top performers. Yes, sometimes you are over paying, sometimes its past their prime, etc. However, NEVER FORGET, every other player in the league is watching and thinking about where they WANT to play, and where they DO NOT want to play.

TO would’ve complained how the parking lot attended didn’t address him as Mr TO then. The dude always found a way to cause drama on any team he was on.
No

McNabb was the drama. TO just wanted to be paid ... and he was worth every penny.
TO’s reactions were inappropriate and over the top. However, the incident also showed that McNabb was a bad leader.
Which reactions? Be specific please.

The reason I ask is if we go in the way back time machine, TOs actual behavior then is NOTHING compared to how players act today. Also, TO did everything right on the first year at Philly and according to TOs own words, he was given the impression that if he performed his contract would be redone.

I think TO handled himself admirably, especially compared to players today.
TO had issues where ever he went. From what I heard McNabb didn’t like that TO tried to go behind his back and talk about other players and then there’s the incident where he had a physical altercation with former Eagle Hugh Douglas where staff and security had to seperate them. TO also made homophobic comments about Jeff Garcia in SF before leaving.

Don’t get me wrong. TO great player but absolute locker room cancer where ever he went. Every player I’ve ever met who has played with him or knows people who have say the same thing. TO was game changer, but at the same time he caused absolute chaos in the dressing room and if you were losing it was even worse with him in there.

Honestly think they trade for Landry while acting like Myles is their target. WAS is desperate and could way over pay if they feel we really want him. Meanwhile we got and get the cheaper option in Landry who may only cost a day 3 pick and a bit younger

3/51 Zack Baun re-signed.

He is one of the highest paid LBs in the league. It is obvious to anyone Vic made him. Who else is going to give him this money?
There are several Vic disciples serving as HC or DC of other teams, including our old friend Jonathan Gannon. One of those teams might have.

Don’t be wrong, TO was drama. But so is AJ and you see how a strong leader and a solid coaching structure handle his antics and direct Hurts through it.
The things I’ve heard 💯 support your McNabb sentiment. Reid punked out and acquiesced to his immature, petulant “franchise qb”.

Whew, getting Zack back was my #1 priority and a big relief before free agency even officially starts. This is what happens when you treat players right and create an atmosphere where players want to be (and get the right kind of guys). No screwing around and mercs waiting to get the highest possible dollars at the last minute. I can't wait for partying at the season opener and raising the banner! Go Birds! 🦅

So, definitely some CJ Gardner Johnson vs Slay beef going on.

Seems minor, but day 2 in a row of CJ going at it via social media. He and Slay definitely are *not* friends haha

With respect, please again tell me how TO was a bad teammate during year 1 at Phi. Year 2 antics, sure.

Worth noting, I would encourage you to check out TOs salary in year 2.

Javon Hargrave getting released by SF.
Great backup plan if we do not retain Milton.
Stay away from all these 30+ year olds unless the need is dire.
I'm with ya! Just ya know, if he's cheap and its a one year deal and we need him and all.

But I do remember him like going to SF and basically "Oh wow its SO GREAT HERE" as some sort of diss or whatever.

If we lose Sweat AND Milton though, I will start looking like the banner 49ers or Chiefs poster on here for a minute

Yeah, i heard others were pricing him at $10-$12 million. Not that I think the Eagles did anything wrong here, but i don't know if he would have got over $20 million outside of Philly.

Always a fun game to play this time of year. Becton and Gainwell are the next one's I can't think what kind of demand and money they may be able to get on the open market

I mean slay called him out on Parsons podcast earlier on the year. You just don’t do that to teammates. I know a few heads in that lockerroom tilted when they heard about it. Then dissed him and part of the team today in another pod. Slay has been weird last two yrs.

TO signed a deal after wanting to be here. If I recall he even tried going to court to make sure bal couldn’t trade for him. If he didn’t like the deal why’d he sign it to begin with. My overall point though is TO isn’t a great example here. The dude was a malcontent everywhere he went and burnt multiple Bridges with teams and teammates.

He's not in Warner's league, but I'd argue Baun is better than the other 2, especially Edmunds. That's coming from a Bears fan who watched a ton of Smith and Edmunds, Baun was WAY better than either of those guys have ever been.

Kirk instead of being released is going to Texans apparently so he won’t be available.

Also Trey Hendrickson the lead sack guy in nfl this year has permission to seek trade. He’s 30 no gauranteed $$$ left but 1 year left. Expect to hear his name with Eagles in rumors possible

Hendrickson is going to make a ton. There's zero shot Philly can afford him unless he takes a contract that would get him thrown out if the NFL Players Union.

It’s been fascinating to see the last few days how the fan fiction idea of New England trading for AJ Brown has continued to build. To the point it had to finally be addressed by reasonable reporting.

Weird stuff.
If money wasn’t an issue in terms of dead cap if NE was offering this years 1st and 2 other picks I think you at least get tempted. You eventually need to sign Devonta, Carter, Smith etc to long term deals. However given the dead ap on the Eagles to trade him it makes no sense to trade him this year.

Yeah man, like I've been seeing this sh on social media all over and I'm like

Great disinfo is starting to try to infect sports
This rumor has been speculated since last offseason. NBC sports said they heard it at the combine again. I don’t think if NE called or talked it ever got past the “hey are you interested in trading AJB and what’s the cost?” And Roseman saying not for sale. It due diligence work

I mean slay called him out on Parsons podcast earlier on the year. You just don’t do that to teammates. I know a few heads in that lockerroom tilted when they heard about it. Then dissed him and part of the team today in another pod. Slay has been weird last two yrs.

Just to add to this

He and slay went at it after Slay called him out missing an assignment on Parsons podcast earlier this year. A couple teammates weren’t too pleased considered Slay wasn’t innocent himself having missed some plays and I believe gave up a bad TD as well as the fact he wasn’t great the year before. Some felt it was pretty rich of slay to be calling out a teammate after the year he had prior to the event fans and media were calling for his release.

Slay has been known in the past for also throwing subtle insults in direction of teammates to the point most fans don’t know what it’s about. Slay calls himself a l’leader but then publicly throws teammates under the bus in this weird way.

And if you noticed after CJ left the Secondary and defense was super soft. CJ comes back and mentality is completely different.

Not only that but when Slay went on the podcast and threw CJ under the Bus, slay gave up a TD that same game and got cooked as well as the ATL game. After the Dallas loss year before he was posting his highlight video after getting smoked in that game not holding accountability. After this years WAS game CJ took accountability and publicly apologized to fans and teammates. Also when you watch nfl films and mic’s up he’s in there acting like the defensive leader and was the one trying to calm AJ after him and Sirianni got into it earlier this year. Slay takes zero accountability.

Finally there’s been a rumor for the last few yrs that Slay has a burner Twitter account he goes under and throws fans and teammates alike. Never proven but a few fans have snooped around and found a few different accounts that could be his. And when asked about his poor performance he just list his accomplishments.

Thanks for your time and help at the end of the season but it’s time to move on and keep players who want to be accountable here.
