2025 Philadelphia Eagles - LB in the first round??? (18 Viewers)

It’s going to be a pretty quiet week for us. Seems pretty clear we’re going to sit back, let a few comp picks come our way and then fill out the roster via trades, the draft, and the FA’s that become available after the other teams make their roster moves, which don’t count against the comp picks.
Fine with me. We just want to be in a position where we don't have any glaring needs going into the draft so we have flexibility there for Howie to cook. Seems like there are enough DT's / Rushers in the draft or FA to draft some guys or sign some guys at a ring-chasing discount.

Great side effect of this build is that we can not only celebrate a Superbowl but also sit back and enjoy watching other teams make crazy deals in panic mode.
Having said that, surprised at the word that they're shopping Goedert right now. I know we're probably targeting TE in the draft but probably don't want to go into it with it being an obvious need? Would think maybe we've got a plan for adding a FA TE but not Howie's style if it would interfere with comp picks.
I think they believe all they get in comp is a 4. I could see them maybe making a Trade if cheap for Kyle Pitts and then draft a guy to go to more 12 personnel.

He’s got no guaranteed money left on his contract so he’s also a possible release (no cap hit, 100% of his 2025 salary gets opened up), so makes sense to see if there’s a market before releasing him, if that’s what they ultimately decide.

I think TE is a target, regardless, but it may be a stop-gap solution for this season, especially if the draft doesn’t shake out in their favor for a potential starting rookie.
Isn't the cap hit untenable though, with us out of June 1 cuts?

Reddick back in NFC this time the south

Per Scheftar

Haason Reddick has agreed to terms on a 1-year deal for $14 million, including $12 million guadanteed with the Buccaneers. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus.

One less edge guy

Just ahead of free agency, former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack reached agreement today on a one-year, fully-guaranteed $18 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, per sources. Chargers get back their pass-rush standout.

Then there’s the Josh Allen signing. $55M/year, with $250M guaranteed for a guy with 0 SB appearances. Makes Hurts and his $50M, $110M guaranteed with 2 SB appearances and 1 SB win look like even more of a bargain.
Highest Average Salary:

1. $60M - Dak Prescott
t2. $55M - Josh Allen ⬅️
t2. $55M - Trevor Lawrence
t2. $55M - Joe Burrow
t2. $55M - Jordan Love
6. $53.1M - Tua Tagovailoa
7. $53M - Jared Goff
8. $52.5M - Justin Herbert
9. $52M - Lamar Jackson
10. $51M - Jalen Hurts
11. $46.1M - Kyler Murray
12. $46M - Deshaun Watson

Crazy that all the qbs above hurts havent won a superbowl. Hell most of them havent even made one
Burrow the only one that's been to one. I forgot Mahomes isn't top 10 anymore.
Goff when he was with the Rams lost a SB.
Forgot about that

Read Bechton wants to come back to Philly, willing to take a discount.
I have a feeling he’s going to get offers that, even after factoring in a discount, is still going to be a lot more than we are willing to offer, since they have Steen, who is cost-controlled.
Well, the G market is looking softer than expected based on the reported signings so far. Maybe there is a chance.

Former Eagles CB Isaiah Rodgers reached an agreement on a 2-year $15 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings. The deal includes $8M fully guaranteed. The deal was negotiated by Bryan Gavin and Ed Wasielewski of EMG Sports.

Yeah Howie wasn’t doing this

Full details:
— 4 year extension/6 total years

$40,000,000 APY

No trade clause

$204,796,125 total value

$100,000,000 cash 1st three years

$88,800,000 execution guarantees

$122,796,125 total guarantees
For a joke team like Cleveland to pay this is absurd. You need to tear that team down and start from scratch.
Its decisions like this that cement them to the floor as a joke team. They should have gotten what they could for him and moved on.

On Williams, we are basically guaranteed a 3rd round comp pick for him with that deal.

- 3rd round pick
- rotational player with plenty of gas every year
- kills it in contract year and is key piece to winning the super bowl
- massive contract
-Eagles get 3rd round comp back

Thank you Howie Roseman

Josh Sweat and the Cardinals reached agreement on a 4-year deal worth $76.4 million, including $41 million guaranteed.

4th round comp pick incoming for him.

Gotta get Becton back now.

Thats where we drafted him. Good for Milton. He was never making that here.

Trade: Texans are trading five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders for a package of picks, sources tell ESPN.

The full terms:
-- A 2nd rounder and a fourth rounder to the #Texans, plus a third rounder this year.
-- Was gets back a fourth rounder and Laremy Tunsil.

Tunsil is so washed up, my favorite T-shirt from High School is shaking its head at that trade.

Lead the NFL in penalties last year.

The Texans thread title, "Tunsil traded to Washington, false starts on way to airport." :ROFLMAO:

Rather of kept Kenny DTR is horrible

Trade! The #Browns are acquiring QB Kenny Pickett from the #Eagles in exchange for Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2024 5th round pick (originally from the #Lions), sources say.

Well DTR is definitely more similar to Jalens skill set than Pickett. Maybe they can develop him into a backup.

Burks is signing with CIN, but only for $5M, so not going to be comp pick territory.

With Becton still in the wind, the projected comp picks are 3,4, and 6th for Williams, Sweat, and Rodgers.

They should sign Barnett then they’ll have the defensive side down too

Or him hitting that mask bong

McKee is good. So glad Pickett is gone and McKee is #2 now.
I actually liked Pickett as a back up. He didn’t lose us games in there. Ig Smith catches that ball and Calcaterra blocks we win in WAS.
Pickett's underrated in my opinion. If he hadn't been a 1st round pick, I think people would have a higher opinion of him. I do think McKee is absolutely capable of being the backup though. I think DTR is awful, and no lock to make the roster.
