2025 Philadelphia Eagles - No doubt about it now. It’s 2023 all over again. (86 Viewers)

I wonder if Tank or Dillon are both still on the roster for week 7
Tank might be gone.
Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya
Now this is a Howie miss for sure. The guys we got that were supposed to help the return game have been SO BAD. Like hilariously bad.
Yeah also, lets get Covey back on the team to never return punts, even though he was the best in the league, literally, when was last our PR.

The Eagles have made so many poor decisions the past 8 months

But Tank ain't getting cut, no way with the draft capital they gave up for him.

Howie just doesn't piss away draft picks, he'll at least try to RETRADE him for like a conditional 2028 7th

So anyway, I think one of the biggest misses by Howie this past off-season is not resigning Becton. He didn't get that much and our guard play has been awful without him. Sure he's hurt now but that's not to say he would have been had he been here. If Becton is here, Steen coming in as a backup for LD is much easier. LD could have rested since the beginning of the year. We don't lose as much as we did playing a hurt Dickerson with Steen on the other side.

Plus with Becton signed long term, he's the obvious replacement for Lane once he decides to hang it up.

Rare miss for Howie lately.

The biggest whiff was not re-signing Isaiah Rodgers. He only got a 2 year, $11M deal. Instead, we bargain bin shopped for Jackson.
This was also a big miss but I'd say the Guard play has been worse than the corner play.

Steen's grades out as the 33rd best G, Bechton is currently 88th. (Dickerson is 56th).
Becton was 14th last year on the Eagles among all Guards. Dickerson was 9th.

What does that have to do with this season? If Bechton were here, the line would actually be worse if you can imagine that.

I disagree. He played well under this scheme. A second year in it would have made him better not worse. He went out to LA and got paid to be great in a brand new scheme. So far he hasn't and now injury has made it worse.

The OL issue thing is overblown in my opinion. The OL isn't the ELITE group it was, but its still top-10 in the NFL. People don't wanna admit it, but Barkley bears a lot of the blame in the run game. He isn't breaking tackles, and he's doing that annoying thing he did a lot in NY of passing up 4-5 yard gains to try and hit home runs, and then getting tackled at the line. I think questions of whether he's a little burnt out from overuse last year are valid.

The defense is the same issue. Its not the ELITE #1 defense it was last year. but for the most part, its still been top-10. Having 2 games without Carter hurts, as does Nolan Smith on IR. They have missed Slay and CJGJ quite a bit, probably Rodgers too. They just have less depth options. But its still been mostly pretty good. Jihaad Campbell looks like a big hit.

The Eagles are 4-2. That's about what they look like to me, the path to get there has just been a little unorthodox. I wouldn't be THAT worried...yet. They laid a bit of an egg on a short week in a road division game, sucks, but it happens. Vikings game will be an interesting test, because in theory, Philly should roll in that one, given the Vikings QB/OL issues.

Philly, Philly, silly, silly

“I don’t recall a meeting.” That was A.J. Brown after the Eagles’ second straight loss.

Don’t worry, A.J. — I think it’s fair to say we all hate meetings. But you don’t have to pretend one never happened … or was he actually telling the truth?

Despite reports of a players-only sitdown after the loss to Denver — supposedly including Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts and Brown — multiple sources in Philadelphia tell me A.J. was, in fact, right.

There was never a formal meeting. It was less player summit, more “hey, let’s talk for a second” — the kind of quick, honest check-in that happens in locker rooms every week. Call it a conversation, not a confrontation.

Brown tweeted on Friday that it was a discussion in the parking lot by their cars. And honestly? They probably needed it.

Said one league executive: “The Eagles have looked drained, emotionally and physically. The defense we saw Thursday night was on the field for (70-plus) plays in the heat just four days ago.”

The temps haven’t helped; it was 88 degrees at kickoff Week 2 in Kansas City, 88 at kickoff Week 4 in Tampa (and in the 90s before that game ended) and 80 at kickoff Week 5 at home.

It’s not an excuse. However, it’s possible Philly’s not broken; the Eagles are just out of sync and worn out.

The Eagles will continue to insist they have no plans to trade Brown, their star receiver. But every week that passes with problems piling up makes decision-makers around the league wonder. One league source told me: “Brown doesn’t look frustrated or mad — he looks indifferent. And that’s not a good place to be.” A GM in the AFC said, “I think Howie (Roseman) moves him. It would have to be for the right player or pick, but (a trade) wouldn’t surprise me. Howie likes deals, especially if a player’s value overrides how Brown is being used.”

Most teams anticipate the asking price to be steep. Expect more calls as we near November.

This is what happens when you pair a star WR with a terrible QB

MOstly disagree about Barkley. Very few expected him to come remotely close to last years production, but he's getting hit in the backfield a LOT more often. seems like every other run he's having to try to make somebody miss before he can even take 2 steps. It's a big part of what is going wrong on offense. Every other second down is second and 11 or 12 instead of 2nd and 4 or 5.

Where’s your evidence for the OL “still top 10”? I don’t mean by reputation, I mean based on what they have actually done this year.

I agree about the defense.

Admittedly I'm going off PFF grade (which I know is sketchy for some, but I think in particular they nail OL/DL stuff) for the OL, which is 5th in pass blocking, and 16th in run blocking, and 8th overall.

If you guys want to feel better about our offense watch the Jets/Broncos from London in NFL network. Both QBs have a combine 163 yds and Fields only has 38 of them.

have been sitting on this a couple days. Defense deserves a pass for Thursday...they've played well so for this year, were missing their best players, and were playing on the road in a short week.

It's the type of game that teams often drop...divisional opponent on the road in a short week. The loss isn't killer as they are still 4-2. The stats suggest that without the turnovers the score is close, though likely still a loss.

All that said, this offense is worrying me more every week. Yet another game where they look good to great for a half, and AWFUL for another half. It's bizarre how this seems to be the case EVERY SINGLE GAME. And it isn't like it's always first half or second half, so we can't simply say they are failing to adjust at the half...because on a couple occasions they did and the second half was the good half. I just don't get it. BUt in general the O line has been average and the play calling poor...Barkley is getting hit behind the line on first down far too often. Nobody does well when most of their 3rd downs are 3rd and 8+. Almost no motion, more predictable then most.

Dont get me wrong this is a great team at almost every position possible

LOL! You're on one of the sites

Now can you stop whining ... my teams been ranked between 28-32 for the last 5 years ... and the poor eagles are all the way down to 7 after ranking 1 or 2 for the past 5 years
Now do you realize how much your QB sux ... the slightest degregation to your GREAT oline, despite having great WRs, RBs and TEs and your offense sux and your now putting pressure on the defense.

70% of the QBs in the League would kill for that terrible injured Eagles Oline!
