2025 Philadelphia Eagles - Trade deadline behind, Green Bay ahead. (99 Viewers)

My take as I wrote it int he Dolphins thread

Jaelan Phillips traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for a '26 3rd round pick
-Happy for Phillips, assuming he can stay healthy he stands a good chance to experience a deep Playoff run as Philly attempts to win B2B titles
On a team with as much talent as they have, Phillips should find success these last 8-9 week sand the Playoffs
For a player entering free agency, god chance to showcase his skills

Miami gets a pick they can use in the Draft next year, Phillips was taken 18th overall in 2021, his best season was 7 sacks or thereabout
I have a good feeling he's gonna look great in a green uniform, best of luck to him
Thank you! I think he will have an instant impact with the team and maybe a slight chance the Eagles try to extend him after season, but feel the plan here is to rent him and try to play the comp pick game..

2 key things about the trade:
  • Miami is taking on $6.6M of his salary, Eagles take the remaining $500k
  • The 3rd round pick is our own, which will be pretty late in the round; Eagles are keeping the 3rd rounder they got from the Jets, which will be earlier in the round.

Yep and if we receive a 3 for Milton Williams it’s basically like moving back a few spots

Incredible. We get a guy for 500k rest of season

The salary is definitely a bargain but the 3rd rounder, even a late one, is still a pretty big asset. That MIA was willing to essentially pay $6M for it speaks to that. Phillips' injury history also played a part in MIA having to take on the salary risk, too, if they wanted a 3rd.

Howie's only given up a 3rd straight-up for a player once before, and it was similar circumstances:

2018, coming off a SB win, gave up a 2019 3rd rounder (wound up being pick 88: Cody Barton) for Golden Tate, who was on the last year of his contract. Didn't really have the impact we hoped, but we did get a 2020 4th round comp pick when he signed with NYG, which Howie turned into 4 picks by trading back a few times: Shaun Bradley, Quez, Casey Toohill, and Kenny Gainwell.

Phillips turning into a comp pick is no guarantee (his next contract might not qualify, especially if he does nothing with us or gets hurt again; or, we might cancel out the comp pick with a FA signing), but would be a nice way to further offset what we gave up.

All in all, solid move.

I hear ya.

Scared money don't make no money

#Chargers FA CB Asante Samuel, who had a spinal fusion procedure this offseason, was fully cleared to return to the NFL by respected Drs. David Okonkwo and Nick Theodore in a letter agent Trevon Smith presented to NFL teams.

Samuel becomes a top FA and fascinating addition.

I was shocked that Tate trade didn't work out. I thought he was going to be great in that offense

Phillips saying the right things. Will work his *** off, humble, earn respect. Likes Fangio. I think he was returning to his pre-injuries form.

>>And while the sack numbers haven’t been particularly high in 2025, Phillips currently ranks sixth in quarterback hurries and 11th in pressures among all edge rushers, according to Pro Football Focus.<<

Great week for the Eagles and they didn’t even play.

Acquired Jaelen Phillips

Lions, Packers, Giants, Commanders, Cowboys, Chiefs all lose.

Don’t look now but those final 4 games Raiders, Commanders, Bills, Commanders are gonna have folks talking about strength of schedule.

All games on EST

If the Eagles can take care of business these next 2 weeks…

If Jalean Phillips is healthy. he is probably our best EDGE. This could be a very big signing.

Looking forward to seeing the Offense play the next 2 weeks, and see what the self-scouting period led to

Eagles can go 3-6 (they won’t) and only beat the Cowboys and Commanders twice and still win the NFC East at 9-8. Obviously, the goal is a repeat and not just a division title but that’s how bad the rest of East is right now

I think a split is enough if we just finish strong to get number 1 seed. Lions and packers have tough roads

Is Phillips good? I try not to watch Dolphins games.
He’d be a top edge rusher if he wasn’t always hurt.

He's a one-dimensional pass rusher. He's not great in rush or pass defense. He's good at getting to the QB, and teams with statues back there at QB that we may face in the playoffs he'll be really good and help a lot (GB, DET, LAR). Teams with mobile QBs . . . we'll see how he does. Those may be BG heavy games as he's good at setting the edge.

We're winning both games. GB lost their best receiver, we should be able to shut down that offense. I could see a similar game to the playoff game, like 20-10 final.

Detroit has some serious issues on their OL up the middle. Jared Goff is going to have to get rid of the ball fast but he's going to see pressure in his face all day. Plus, Goff's outdoor splits aren't great, so I expect that to be a win, maybe a 30-20 type game.

The only game I see us losing is possibly Buffalo on the road in December. That one is going to be tough because of the elements.

There might be a letdown game in there as well, maybe the Raiders since the team will have to go west then come back east. The travel might cause problems, but I don't see anything more than 4 losses for this team.

Eagles news...

The Eagles opened Nolan Smith's practice window today. He'll practice this week leading up to Monday's game.

The Eagles also released LB Patrick Johnson from the active roster and WR Terrace Marshall from the practice squad.

Hefty price for Sauce

Full trade:

🏈Colts receive CB Sauce Gardner.

🏈Jets receive 2026 and 2027 first-round picks and WR AD Mitchell.

Seems like alot to me
Laying the house on Daniel Jones is bold.
The formula is very similar to Goffs. Run the ball a lot. Play defense. Minimize the risk. When he has to throw 50+ times, it's going to be bad. JT should never have less than 20 carries regardless of game script.

Yeah but I have to see more from him. Goff showed some high level play with the Rams. They can hide him and he can win them games.

Jones I think only had a decent (by rookie standards) year and has been just bad. If he flames you’ll see JT on another team next year to recoup those picks.

Danny Dimes gets a bad rep for the unfortunate situation he was put in. Everyone agreeded he was drafted way too high and high picks expectations fair or not were on him. He’s in a good spot now though

I agree. This last game aside, he's been under-rated.
